Overview & Reviews
The new model year brings a handful of changes for the Mustang. V6 models can now get the Pony Package, which includes an upgraded suspension with larger stabilizer bars, 17-inch wheels, ABS, traction control, foglamps and unique trim. The GT gains two additional wheel options, both 18 inches in size, complemented by unique suspension tuning. An additional darker aluminum interior trim upgrade package is now available.
- Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a car with a solid-axle rear suspension can get, slick retro interior, good cabin ergonomics.
- No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support, low-grade interior plastics.

Have your cake and eat it too! - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Green Onion - March 14 - 10:48 amWe ordered ours Labor Day of 05 and picked it up in Nov. Power, handling, MPG, looks are all amazing. At first, the MPG was awful but its only temporary. After the break in period, Ive seen as high as 26 MPG (at avg. 77 MPH) and regularly get 23-24 MPG on my commute (1/3 city 2/3rds Hwy). I suspect, it could go as high as 30 MPG on a long trip and a moderate 65mph but dont think I never put my foot in it. Plenty have tried but no one has beat me in stop light drags. Handling is surprising for solid rear axle, but would prefer a proper independent rear suspension. There are downsides, heavy doors, squeaks & rattles from dash but this is one of the most pleasurable cars on the road!

Good Buy - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Jay - February 16 - 11:17 amIll be sad to see mine go. Ive had BMWs, Camaros, and Vettes, and this is by far my favorite car to date. Very reliable so far with only one problem (fuel gauge sensor) but otherwise a perfect all around car. Not too fast (yes there is such a thing), but more than fast enough to get you in trouble on any road.

2006 Mustang GT Fastback - 2006 Ford Mustang
By peckinpaugh - December 27 - 2:16 pmDriving the Fastback is an experience like no other. I love it! We now have 2500 miles on the car and Ive never enjoyed a car more. Mine is black with red and black interior. We have the fancy dash you get with the leather interior. Ive had the windows tinted black and the cops follow me to the grocery store. Are they surprised when a grey haired lady steps out. Ive had Mustangs before, but they were 64s, 65s and 66s. The gas mileage is better then we had expected, although it really didnt matter to us at the time we ordered it in June, 05 I would tell anyone thinking about buying a stang, that they better do it fast, so as not to waste time. Love it, love it, love it!

Elvira - 2006 Ford Mustang
By pitbeagle73 - December 11 - 8:09 pmAs soon as I got a glimpse of the 2006 Mustang GT I knew that I would have one, all I had to do was find one that was black on black. Well, that proved to be harder than anticipated. It took more than a year but we found a dealership that would allow us to build the car of our dreams. I picked Elvira up on Oct 2nd 2005 and she has been loved every day since. We drove her from Ohio to Florida in pouring rain without any trouble and surprising gas mileage. She is garage kept and stored as soon as snow threatens to fall. Our only complaint has been the cupholder position and trouble finding quality after market parts such as the shaker system that my husband suprised me with this past birthday

Good Old Days - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Howard - November 19 - 1:20 pmAfter 4 months of looking for an affordable, yet sporty and fun car to drive around I have returned to my youth with a Mustang. The retro styling clearly caught my eye, but this one is decades ahead (literally) of my 65 pony. This car has more power, more room and I think, better handling than the BMW 3 series, and the $10K in my pocket certainly makes up for any subtle differences. It feels good to be back in a "stang." Driving is fun again!!

New and Blue - 2006 Ford Mustang
By cdlytle69 - November 12 - 4:50 am2006 Vista Blue, light graphite cloth, auto., interior upgrade package, 18" polished aluminum, front side airbags, active anti-theft, locking lug nuts, unfortunately basic stereo, working on changing that. Basic isnt bad, but Ive heard too much about the Shakers and now I want one. Still breaking it in, but its sweeeeet (to borrow a Dodge phrase).

06 SCS V6 Mustang - 2006 Ford Mustang
By glewis29 - October 28 - 12:43 pmI just bought a new Southern California Special (V6, Pony Package, Interior Upgrade, LeMans stripping, Chrome Exhaust tip & side tape delete). The exterior design is what I fell in love with and the Pony Package and LeMans stripping finish it off perfectly. I drove both a V6 & V8 automatic ... the V8 was absolutely fabulous, but I just couldnt justify the $4k extra. The V6 is completely satisfying. So far the interior is growing on me. Im very happy I got the charcoal interior and leather seats; it greatly increases the class of the vehicle. The build quality is overall pretty good, Im happily surprised. Reliability will have to wait.
