Overview & Reviews
The new model year brings a handful of changes for the Mustang. V6 models can now get the Pony Package, which includes an upgraded suspension with larger stabilizer bars, 17-inch wheels, ABS, traction control, foglamps and unique trim. The GT gains two additional wheel options, both 18 inches in size, complemented by unique suspension tuning. An additional darker aluminum interior trim upgrade package is now available.
- Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a car with a solid-axle rear suspension can get, slick retro interior, good cabin ergonomics.
- No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support, low-grade interior plastics.

You get noticed - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Heather - January 30 - 9:26 pmWhen I purchased this car the first thing that caught my eye was the body style. How they had gone back in time at least in my mind. It handles very well, the interior design I think needs just a little bit of work but not a lot. The trunk release is only on the key chain that I have found and would have rather them put another inside the car. All in all I love my new Mustang and I wont be getting rid of it for a long time.

Live axle - 2006 Ford Mustang
By 38 yrs ford Tech. - January 13 - 1:09 pmI am a Ford/Lincoln Mercury Tech for 38 years. I have owned three Lincoln Mercury MK-VIII s and compared to this Mustang, Ford missed the mark . The handling is not near as good compared to the MK-VIII. I have taken curves on a every day basis at high speeds and the Mustang will feel loose in the rear end. This is due to the live axle. The Mustang is a fun car and quick, but would have better handling with an independent suspension. But all in all this is a very fun car to drive for a 58 year old young man. Note - the Mustang will pass just about everything except a GAS STATION.

funnnnn - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Gabrielle - December 14 - 2:43 amThe car drives like a big heavy American car. Nostalgia like a Moms car but is hot and sharp at the same time. It feels very safe and is exciting the way it holds the road and has pick up like most V8s. The dash could be a little more Mercedes-ish but I like the chrome and design. Great speakers and upgraded music system. Pretty bad on fuel economy.

By jay.t.elliott - November 5 - 12:30 pmI have driven the mustang GT for 4 months. It is an absolute blast to drive. The fuel economy is not as well as I had hoped.

Car is really fast - 2006 Ford Mustang
By circpro - July 20 - 1:56 pmI test drove many other sport convertibles, but liked the ride of the Mustang best. I would have picked the Honda 2000, but it is so tiny, you better be 135 lbs and 55". The Nissan 350Z was nice, but you feel every bump in the road. This car is great except the quality of the interior for the price. I had an F150 Lariat, and the interior quality was far better equal price. The leather seats are very nice, but at 510" I find my knee resting against the center console. The stereo is outstanding for a factory unit, but I could tell no difference in the quality between the Shaker 500 and the 1000 even though the 1000 comes with a sub in the trunk.

All Show, Not Enough Go - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Brian - October 20 - 10:36 amI knew Ford had a winner when I saw the wonderful concept car. With slick retro styling and more power, I was sure I would love the car. I really like both interior and exterior styling and the car is very comfortable, even with the stiff(ish) suspension tuning. The car handles pretty well for the money too. I am a bit disappointed with the lack-luster acceleration. Im not looking for high-end V8 numbers here, but I dont feel even a slight surge when flooring the accelerator-even when downshifting first. It seems to accelerate the same whether the pedal is at half-way or pinned to the floor. Most of us dont drag race these things, but a little more power would be appreciated.

My 67 pony back from the dead - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Steve - November 7 - 7:06 amNo doubt about it, the car is fun to drive. The car looks great, everywhere I go I get people just walking up to me and telling me what a great car I have. If you are thinking about buying the Mustang, spend the extra $10,000 and get the Roush - its worth every penny and makes the car stand out from the rest.

2006 Mustang with Pony Pack - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Al - September 24 - 7:36 amFrom the living room came a call from Heather, my 16 year-old daughter, "Dad, mom needs you in the driveway! Being a dad I thought something was wrong with Kerri Ann, my 21 year-old, whom my wife said she was at the mall with. Kerri rounds the corner driving my wifes 2003 PT Cruiser. Now confused, I asked, "Where in the world is your mom?" Then the sound...the low murmur of a V6 engine with a beautifully tuned exhaust caught. Then, from around the corner, I caught the sparkle of Vista Blue paint on the unmistakable nose of a Mustang, with the 1967 GTA inspired grillwork. It was my wife behind the wheel of a new 2006 Mustang with Pony Package! Red bow and all. Life is Good!

Looks arent everything! - 2006 Ford Mustang
By ChuckH - April 20 - 11:23 pmWOW! What a GREAT looking CAR. Inside AND out! Too bad looks arent everything. Worst quality control Ive seen in years. After 3600 miles this car has had a noisy rear end, exhaust vibration, front suspension noises, and three rattles in the dash! It also takes dealers more that one trip to fix. Huge disappointment overall.
