Overview & Reviews
The new model year brings a handful of changes for the Mustang. V6 models can now get the Pony Package, which includes an upgraded suspension with larger stabilizer bars, 17-inch wheels, ABS, traction control, foglamps and unique trim. The GT gains two additional wheel options, both 18 inches in size, complemented by unique suspension tuning. An additional darker aluminum interior trim upgrade package is now available.
- Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a car with a solid-axle rear suspension can get, slick retro interior, good cabin ergonomics.
- No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support, low-grade interior plastics.

Perfection within the framework - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Spartan - July 29 - 8:26 amMy wife and I have had this car for 3 months and it is exactly what we wanted and expected. The 5-speed transmission is easy to operate and the horsepower is always just a pedal away. The car has nice balance and really hugs the road at speed. Tire spin and oversteer are not difficult to avoid, but reliable in their consistency with no nasty surprises if youre trying to slide around a bit. The only complaints I could make are the lack of a few creature comforts. A power passenger seat, heated seats, and climate control would be nice. But I understand that Ford left out a few frills to keep the price down. This car was designed to go fast and look good doing it. Mission accomplished.

Excellent Sports Car, Reasonable Price - 2006 Ford Mustang
By weatherbee - April 30 - 11:53 pmThe 2006 V6 model Mustang is a definite improvement over the aging 1999-2004 models. With 210 flywheel HP, there is a noticeable and noteworthy acceleration with this car. However, do not expect to get anything close to V8 performance. It is reasonable, and will help keep insurance cost, and gas cost (compared to a V8) down. The fuel economy on this vehicle suffers when caught in stop and go traffic. I have averaged roughly 14-19 MPG, while on the freeway 23-26 MPG. For a V6 engine, the gas mileage is a slight disappointment, though I can be blamed for wanting to stomp the acceleration for the pure joy of it. Exterior design is great, while interior design feels a little cheap.

2006 Mustang GT - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Mike Perry - April 23 - 1:06 amPros: Very fast, I have the 5-speed auto and love the way it keeps up the RPM through the gear, especially the first three. It handles great and a blast to drive. Cons: Had to have the trunk lid repainted. Has a clunking in the front end at low speed on bumpy roads. Has a very prominent vibration at approximately 1200 RPM. Dealership said front end is OK and the vibration is resonation from the exhaust. I have my doubts.

Love the Car - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Ken - April 27 - 11:16 pmWe havent had the car long, but it looks great and runs like the stallion that it is. The interior is much quieter than I expected based on reviews (unless you are in the throttle). I am fitting two kids in the back seat ... tight fit but they love cruising with the top down.

CLUNKY - 2006 Ford Mustang
By jscott - March 2 - 9:30 amMy 06 GT 5 speed transmission AND rear end clunk so bad, I hate to drive this car! Im a retired dealership auto technician, and cannot believe I cannot find other complaints on this particular problem. Yes, Im very coordinated when shifting, but its impossible to even drive this car w/out this annoying issue. It makes me hate the car. When downshifting from 3rd to 2nd, it acts as if the clutch isnt completely disengaging ... the transmission dont grind, but it makes an awful noise. Ive never banged a gear, or been to the drag strip. Id be afraid the driveshaft would come through the floor! Very dissatisfied customer. This is my 4th Stang since 1994.

06 GT - 2006 Ford Mustang
By bob - January 29 - 12:53 pmFord did a great job with the style of this Mustang, however mine is in the shop for a new engine due to number 7 cylinder. Also, you will notice a piece of tape covering a hole in the firewall under the brake booster. I have contacted Ford about this but never got a reply. Once this tape dry rots and falls off, water and air will be able to come in to the interior. From what I have seen, they all have the tape covering this hole...so beware. Other then these problems, I love the car. Ford: pay attention and answer your emails and phone request for answers please.

Meet Isabella - 2006 Ford Mustang
By Katie - January 22 - 11:43 amI fell in love with this car at first sight. I had been casually looking for a convertible for about 3 years. When I first saw it on TV in January 2005, it stopped me dead in my tracks. I have always had a sweet spot for the old Mustang GTs, but knew it still had some bugs. What turned my head was the retro body style. What hooked me was how the car performed. After my first test drive I was blown away. The car felt very stable on the road and around sharp corners (really fun actually!) If you were to consider getting the Mustang GT the one thing I would absolutely insist on would be traction control. The GT still has a light rear-end (much better than 2004), traction control is a must!
