This Year's Model Updates:

The F-150 is fully redesigned for 2004. It's bigger, more powerful and offers a greater variety of features and body styles than ever before.

Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
Cons:
  • Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

  • Pig On Gas - 2004 Ford F-150

I bought this truck in Feb 05. I like everything about it. Great looks, style, ride and comfort. However the gas mileage is terrible. Its rated @ 15 city and 19 hwy. I got an average between 12 and 13 mpg until summer and using the A/C. I now average 11 to 11.5. Living in South FL with high gas prices this was a terrible choice for me. If fuel economy is a concern dont buy this truck. If style, ride and comfort are whats most important this is the truck to buy. Im trading it in this weekend for a Honda CR-V and 24 mpg.

This is the finest truck I have ever owned. It rides like a car and has great styling.

Simply a rush and fun to drive - given todays gas prices, should have another vehicle for everyday transportation unless youre filthy rich or have an oil field in your back yard :-) Most fun Ive had dressed in a long time.....

I have owned Cheverolet Dodge and now Ford, trust me 3rd time is a charm. I drive on average 16000 miles a year and have experienced both quality and reliability in my F-150. I receive many complimentson how it looks and drives.

This truck is a breathe of fresh air not only for Ford, but for people looking for a god, solid, American truck that will last.

This is my first truck and I do not know how I lived without it! I grew up in a truck family (both Fords and Chevys) so naturally I wanted a truck but did not want to give up car styling. Was I blown away, the 04 FXR is great on road and off and even gets looks from my friends!

I had a 2000f150 that was great no problems at all, then we went with the new design 2004 f150,dash rattles (dealer cant fix), brakes make noise( dealer says they all do), paint falling off at 1200 miles( dealer says wait till summer to re paint)Been in the shop 5 times already with less than 1300 miles,And the biggest disapointment is the fuel mileage, the 2000 f150 i had got 15 to 18 mpg the 2004 f150 now gets about 7 mpg and at best 10 mpg (dealer says nothing wrong with motor)

Everything and more I have come expect from my F150s. A truck that drives and rides better than $50K sedans. This is a crew cab lariat with console.

I would like to have the fender liners inside the rear fenderwell of the bed. They do have them on the 250 series. The Overdrive Button on shifter is too easily, accidentily turned off, should be more recessed.

  • First year review 22300 miles - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

Well, 22300 miles and one year later its still a great truck. No mechanical problems at all. The fit and finish of the Lariat interior is comperable to a sedan. I would recommend getting the split bench seat in the front because it comes in handy when you need to load six passengers. The stick shift looks neat but its not practical. The big V8 guzzles gas. I avg.<15 mpg. with a lot of in town driving. It towes heavy loads well. I have had it in 4 wheel drive several times in muddy pastures and it worked fine. The bed walls are very high and can make it difficult to see when backing. It also makes it difficult to get in and out of the bed or manipulate a load without climbing.
