Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
Cons:
  • Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

The new f-150 Lariat is nice. After comparing the Supercab with the Supercrew- I went with the Supercab because it has the 6.5 Ft. bed. (the supercrew has only the 5.5 ft bed.) Opt for the front bench seats- that way you can seat 6. As long as you dont put the front seats all the way back, theres plenty of room in the back seat. Wonderful finish on the Lariat. Wish it had 5 speeds for gas milage on open road. Only 16 mpg. Needs shell or cover to assist mpg. Plenty of power. No other truck is in the same league as the Lariat F-150. The Japanese trucks feel cheap & plastic. Sorry Nissan-Not in same league with the F-150 Lariat. Tundra Ok. The Chevrolet is lumbering. No to Dodge

  • Very happy - 2004 Ford F-150

I am very happy with my 2004 F-150. We use to to pull our 30 camper and never have had an issue with it. People even stop me and say, "you pull that camper with that truck"? The drawback is the 8 mpg when pulling. I have towed from Michigan to Mammoth Caves, to Maine and to Virginia and never had a problem. The interior is very nice for a truck and the black trim holds up very well.

  • Ford spark plug problems - 2004 Ford F-150

Really have liked the truck bought new and its many features. Truck is a supercab and its very comfortable. However its latest feature - spark plugs that blow completely out of the engine- have really changed my mind about Fords build quality or lack thereof. Not only is it absurd that a spark plug can blow out of the engine but equally absurd how much it costs to repair. Ford recommends replacing the defective aluminum head with a new defective aluminum head rather than owning up the problem and recalling the many vehicles with their modular engine. Just search blown out spark plug and witness the amount of complaints with both trucks and cars with this engine.

  • Great Truck - 2004 Ford F-150

This is my first exprience with a truck, and it is turning out to be a great one. The inside of the cab rivals that of many luxury cars and the exterior is vast improvement over the previous model. The standard items on the Lariat provide enough features that you dont even need to request any options. However, I would recommend the rear park assist (this truck feels awfully big in a parking garage) and the center console with captains chairs (to give it that extra touch of luxury on the interior). The ride is cofortable for a truck, and it handles very well for the size of the vehicle.

  • Beautiful truck - 2004 Ford F-150

I have drivin the f150 1000 miles now and its wonderful exept that I am 66 and the seat belt come across my neck to high and I wish the power adjustable peddles were on the model we bought. I didnt notice to much discomfort leg wise until I was in bumper to bumper traffic for an hour or so. For a shorter person this truck would be awesome in all driving conditions and is great on the open road in cruise control for everyone.

  • nice family truck - 2004 Ford F-150

I replaced my 1977 F150 with this new F150. Other than the name, there is no comparison. This is a luxury SUT in all ways. I cant think of another option I would add. On the road it gets 18 mpg (in Colorado mountains - that is saying a lot). In town I get 12-14 mpg. I have used it to haul supplies to work site, but it is mostly a commuter and grocery getter. It is comfortable and easy to drive. I like the high driving position to see ahead and all around me. It is a bit long to parallel park. I will keep this truck for a while (maybe as long as my 1977 - 28 years!).

  • Wise choice - 2004 Ford F-150

I bought my Ford new in 2004 and it is great. Even after 3 years its interior and exterior design has aged well. The powertrain is definitely underpowered when compared to the new trucks but it still holds its own. I have had no problems passing granny on the highway even while towing. The only real issue I have had with my Ford is the wiper cowl. I must have replaced it 3 times because the plastic clips keep breaking causing it to rattle on the highway (under warranty).

This pickup is the best of all the Ford pickups Ive owned. It has a comfortable, quite ride, excellent road vision day and night. The sound system is excellent. The majority of the controls and buttons are easy to see and use. I do wonder though why the grill was engineered to be attached to the hood? The assisted lift tailgate is a pleasure to use and the deep bed is nice also. I did have a tonneau cover by Lear installed which blocks off some of the rear view, a potentially dangerous situation, but that is not a fault of Ford.

this is a great truck. nothing else can compare. I ve this truck since the first day i test drove. once i drove i knew that this is the truck for me. my 1998 F-150 is a great truck and i was sorry that i was leting it go, but now that i have this one it seemed to wipe all the sorrow away. i cant wait to see what ford has in store for the next F-150.
