This Year's Model Updates:

The TrailBlazer gets a host of minor interior improvements this year. Seating has been restyled and boasts comfort and quality improvements. Detail changes include revised chrome accents, trim enhancements and a new instrument panel appearance. Among the new options are an audio system with CD/MP3 compatibility and full-length side curtain airbags (which replace last year's front-seat side airbags).

Pros:
  • Strong engine performance, comfortable highway ride, extensive features list, user-friendly controls.
Cons:
  • Skittish handling around corners, numb steering, generic interior design with mediocre materials.

  • ISSUES THROUGHT THE YEARS.... - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

My husband purchased me this SUV brand new in the year of 2005. Two years later, the mile reader went bad. After getting that issue repaired, the gas gauge went out. Since then, I started to drive the SUV by the mileage because I refuse to pay between $600-$1200 to get it repaired. After writing to Chevrolet, I was promised a returned call but that never happened. Because I went over the mileage for the warranty, Chevrolet could not cover the repair. Now four years later, in Sept 2011, I get a letter from Chevrolet stating that they will cover 50% of the cost to get the gas gauge repaired. Are you kidding me??? Im about ready to trade this SUV in specially now that the TRANSMISSION went bad

i have a 05 trailblazer with 98,000 miles on it. havent owned it that long but has been stalling when im reversing and moving slowly in traffic. it starts back up fine then it is ok. it can go a while before it does it again. but it is concerning none the less. brought it to the shop a couple of times with no solution. if anyone has had this problem please let me know if you have an answer.

  • Loved my Trailblazer - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I currently have 97,000 miles on my car and in all that time the ONLY repair/maintenance Ive ever had to do was new tires, new left motor mount, front brakes and a new wire for the passenger side front headlight. All these that I just listed were done w/in the last 8000 miles. Ive had 0 tranny issues. It is super comfy, fast, durable, handles well. We just had a baby so just traded it in for a new Escape, but I will miss it. It has by far been my favorite vehicle Ive ever owned!

  • Love/ Hate - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I have had my t-blazer for 5+ years. It had 99,000 but I have made several major repairs. Thank god we got the extended warranty. The exhaust manifold had to be replaced twice now, catalytic converter, DVD system, now the fuel gauge is not working and it is leaking tranny fluid. I am keeping it as long as I can but I think after 3 GM with problems I am moving on.

  • The Good, Bad, and Mean looking - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

The GOOD: Love the styling, even on the interior, its not high tech or futuristic, it is practical. It has the power when you need it. The BAD: I bought the extended warranty and 3 months after I bought it I had to replace the engine, cylinder lost compression and it was idling rough. I spoke with the Enterprise rental guys and they told me the Trailblazer was the vehicle they saw come in for warranty service the most. Enough said there. Road noise is bad because of bad fit for the windows and therefore leaks into the door panels. my speakers were corroded and I had to replace them. I had to replace the water pump. Bottom line, a good style design needs to be backed up by a reliable design

  • GAS Gauge & electrical issues - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

on my 2nd fuel gauge replacement issue. Something failing in the gas tank saying Low Fuel (Always). I cant afford to replace it again @ $500 in 4 years of ownership, so using the "fuel used" meter to tell me when to fill. This has worked very well. Buttons on the radio & console wear very quickly & fuses fail continually so you just deal with it. A great deal of maintanence. When will there be a recall on the Fuel Gauge issue?

  • could be better - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

at 62000 miles the transmission has developed. that has me worried, after having a Ford Taurus and a Dodge Caravan both developed leaks and major problems at around 65000 miles. so you see it seems to be an American car company problem not just Chevy. gas mileage is extreme. around 20 highway and 13 city in two wheel drive. lock in 4-wheel drive and it drops to 10 or less. my v-8 ford pickup does better by far.

  • Great SUV, Poor MPG - 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
    By -

I have had my Trailblazer for over 4 years now and finally paid it off. Its a great SUV that is comfortable, sturdy, and great offroad and on the highway. The extended version is nice and provides 8 feet by 4 feet of room (when front seats are pushed forward) for gear or even a sheet of plywood. the seats in the middle are comfortable but a little cramped for anyone over 6 feet tall. The seats in back are great for kids but not adults. Overall the SUV runs great (only had a speedometer issued covered under warranty) and never any other issues. Sometimes the wind noise coming over the mirrors is a little annoying though.
