Overview & Reviews
The side curtain airbag option now includes front-seat side-impact airbags.
- Pros: Smooth ride quality, above-average fuel economy with V6, plenty of passenger and cargo space, ample safety and convenience features, innovative remote start feature.
- Lackluster interior, subpar brakes and steering, down on power compared to competitors, no manual transmission available.

Malibu LS Sedan - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu
By GUS - January 31 - 6:16 pmInterstate speed is excellent, well over 30 mpg. Very maneuverable and easy to drive as an around town car. Also, comfortable to drive at highway speed. Surprised to find that mileage at 75 mph very little less than at 55 mph. Comfortable leather upholstery and heated seats are appreciated.

Best gas mileage in V6, has high torque - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu
By steineri - January 14 - 9:51 pmGreat acceleration and gas mileage. Perhaps most importantly nowadays, it gets MUCH better gas mileage than its competitors. The horsepower looks slightly lower than some other V-6 cars in its class but most other cars list their hp at really high rpms (i.e. 6000+). The Malibus 3.5 liter v-6 has a LOT more torque (which is what matters) than the engines of its competitors. I literally get 38mpg on interstate trips with mostly flat driving when I drive conservatively.

Excellent Car... GM Finally Got it Right - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu
By EDK - December 24 - 4:23 pmI bought this car because I had accumulated some GM credit card points. My last two cars were German VW cars, but after reading the safety reviews I decided to purchase a GM car. With almost seven months of riding this car I love it. In fact, when the lease is over I probably will replace it with another Malibu. The car is spacious on the inside, and is full of great accessories. I especially like the heated seats and the OnStar system.

Much improved from older models - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu
By mike kercher - December 23 - 9:38 pmMy wife and I traded in our 2002 Malibu and purchased a new 2005 Malibu. Overall it is much improved over the older model. The only thing we were dissapointed in was that the new model we purchased did not have ABS brakes and was a 4 cyl.

Great car - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu
By MO - December 17 - 11:35 pmThus far, the Mailbu LT has been a reliable car, making frequent trips up and down the coast of California, and the computer system has been essential in knowing the condition of the engine and the history of the car.

Great Choice - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu
By Name - December 9 - 2:00 pmI love this car. I am a librarian and put hours of research into the choice of this car. The fact that it recently got top safety ratings just confirms that the research was worth it. I often drive a family members Accord, and the interior and driving feel of this car are vastly superior. People are reluctant to say its better than Camry and Accord due to their long reputation of excellence, but from what Ive seen they are slipping and the Malibu is a much better choice.

Better Than 2000 Model - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu
By mpt654 - November 22 - 1:12 pmBetter than my 2000 LS. Engine power superior, body design more pricey looking. Ride is solid, brakes and steering solid. Great buy at discount rate with many god standard features. 16 inch wheels a plus and must. Id recommend this car in the LS or LT versions. Driver visor mirror lid broke, redesign in the works, still waiting.

05 Malibu LS sedan - 2005 Chevrolet Malibu
By tarheelman - November 9 - 9:55 pmI considered this car and the 05 Camry LE. GMs employee pricing promotion and the Malibus excellent ride & handling balance ended up being the deciding factors because the two cars were a wash in areas like assembly quality, interior comfort, materials quality, quietness, and styling. The Camry has a slight edge in trunk room and rear seat legroom, but not enough of one to justify the price difference. Overall, the Malibu is a comfortable, fun to drive sedan with materials and assembly quality equal to that of the Camry. Also, so far (with 2600 miles on the odometer), it has been trouble- free. If youre shopping the Camry, shop the Malibu, too. It might surprise you---it did me.
