This Year's Model Updates:

There are only minor upgrades in store for the 2003 Impala. New options include a side airbag for the driver and XM Satellite Radio. Remote keyless entry is now standard and four new exterior colors are available. Both base and LS models get new wheel designs.

Pros:
  • Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey V6 engines.
Cons:
  • Vague steering, soggy suspension, low-buck interior.

I bought my 2003 Impala Ls on February 12, 2009. Car had 70,000 miles. The car ran great for a long time until it was in a accident in july 09.Cracked my intake, cat converter.Trunk light kept killing the battery(no biggie). After the wreck and shop time I have not any other issues. Tranny is strong smooth, love the car. The car now has 102,000 miles... Already 32,000 miles in less than a year. Its honestly a great car. Other complaints also depend on how hard you are on your car. Hope this helps.

This was a demo with 6000 miles on it . car is loaded with about everything except compass and outside temp. Was considering a Intrepide ,but when I sew the Impala LS I was very impressed . Its a beautiful car ,lots of room , fun to drive . Take a close look at this car . It is impressive.

The ride is extremely smooth, sometimes feels like it floats on air. Handles well. Great car! My husband couldnt have picked out a better car for me.

  • Best Car Ive Owned - 2003 Chevrolet Impala

So far I love this car. I had purchased a 2005 Chevy Malibu Classic in July but wasnt satisfied with the feel of the engine so I traded it in for a car I was more comfortable with driving. This is the third car I have owned and fifth one Ive drove and by far it is the best. The only thing wrong so far is when I first bought the car i couldnt fill my car with gas no matter how full or empty my tank was without it activating the automatic shutoff, but the dealership repaired that for free.

Yet to purchase, however, I have noticed much on the numerous Imaplas I have looked at both new and used. Bad 1- Not painted anywhere you normally cant see. Gas cover, trunk and hood. Silly and CHEAP. View the Primer with every tank?! 2- Interior colors. Cream dash color too "pimp daddy" looking. 3- Honda Accord LX and EX at $21k and $24k v/s base and LS at $24 and $28k? OK. 1- Is the 3.4 as good as the 3.8 2- Offers 6 seating but only on 3.4. Good- 1- Great MPG on both. 2- Safty rating. 3- Fits 3 car seats in back. 4- Power 5- Limited # of options compared to Toyotas $19k base trying to wear $11k more in options!

My 03 Impala LS has been great. Excellent fuel mileage (21 avg, 28.5 hwy @ 145k miles). Using Castol Syntec, change when computer says to. Replaced catalytic converter ($800) which seems to be an Impala plague. 130k: transmission started to slip, but nothing serious. Used Seafoam Transmission and most shifting problems went away. 146k: replaced both front bearings ($650). 2.5-3 years: battery dies w/o warning.

The car is outstanding. Quick, Comfortable, and handles well. Better fuel economy and performance than Camry - and it is larger!
