  • Wonderful Car! - 2003 Chevrolet Impala

I love my Impala, Ive had it for two years and have had no major problems. The brakes went bad at one point but when I bought the car it had 77,000 mi, now It has almost 116,000 and still runs great! Im not fond of American cars but Chevys are the best! Id buy the same car again, as long as the miles are lower.

The car hasnt been terribly unreliable, but the front brakes and rotors wear very quickly. Also, the transmission started slipping after only 50,000 miles and had to end up being replaced. I wish this would have happened under warranty. I just wish some domestic car maker could put something on the market that would last at least 100,000 miles.

I bought this car and did not expect it to be this much fun to drive. It is an LS model with antilock brakes and the "Traction" feature. I test drove it on a very rainy day and tried to make it skid. I couldnt do it. Thats a big reason I bought it. And, here I was just buying a 2nd car so I wouldnt put extra miles on my 3/4 ton 4X4 Chevy Avalanche.

  • Lower Intake Manifold Gasket - 2003 Chevrolet Impala
    By -

We bought this car new in November of 2002 as we needed a roomy family sedan and the Impala was the greatest value at that time. I never was a Chevy guy but with our financial situation at the time, the car was too good to ignore. It has the 3.4L motor. Later I found out that these motors have a design flaw which can cause major engine damage if not addressed right away. The repair cost for the lower intake is $850 but GM covered it as the car was under warranty. Boy in hindsight I should have questioned the oily slime under my fathers radiator cap in his Grand Am which also had the problem. But I didnt and he paid the $850. If it lasts to 200k miles, still a great deal and comfortable.

  • Nice upgrade! - 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Great car, replaced 2000 Malibu. Handles well and has great gas milage. I LOVE the heavier vehicle due to ice and snow on the roads. I am able to go and not worry if I will be slipping and sliding. I have been very pleased. City Motor Company is a wonderful place to but from, this is our 3rd vehicle from there.

  • Not so happy - 2003 Chevrolet Impala

I bought this car as a used fleet car. It was well taken care of before I got it from my step-mom whose company sold it to me for a great deal. Well, it was good until I hit 125000 miles and then the engine started to fall apart. The heads have come off the rocker arms several times, the guy who fixes my car says he has never seen it but it seems like they were made from real cheap material. Also, the cheap plastic body parts dont hold up well when it is cold as I had a door handle crack off on the rear passenger side one very cold morning. Other than those issues, the car is good.

  • Has been a really great car. - 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Had this car since new and has been very reliable. Gas mileage great for its size.

  • Certainly not like a Camry - 2003 Chevrolet Impala
    By -

The Camry, Altima, and Accord are often comapared to this car. They are not even close! The Avalon is identical in size and comfort. I picked up a nice LS in black with the spoiler and every option for 20K at a special sale. For 12K less than the Avalon, the Impala is the best bargain on the market. Very enjoyable to drive and really nice looking in black.

  • Reliable car - 2003 Chevrolet Impala

This car has never had anything go bad. It is the most reliable car I ever owned. At over 77000 miles it preforms like new. It is fully loaded and all accessories preform perfectly.
