Have LS. Fun Car to drive, great pickup and good milage. Buying experience painless. Service is an issue. Contes service departments response to issues : It bottoms out going up or down ramps even at slowest speeds (5mph) ..told thats normal! If I stop and immediately start Impalas engine turns several times and theres a delay in dash lights coming on, told they didnt find anything wrong! Occasional hesitation under acceleration, they couldnt find anything wrong! Trunk popped with keyfob doesnt open all the way and hard to close..you guessed it.."normal". Moisture inside right headlamp, replaced headlamp and..still moisture.Too bad..nice car otherwise.

We have been very impressed with this automobile. It has performed flawlessly. We are glad that we chose the LS version. Even though it is only rated at 205 hp, it accelerates rather quickly and reaches freeway limits more rapidly than I would have expected from such a small engine. It holds the road very well and it handles curves with no sway, a feature I was VERY surprised with.

Writing this just before picking up my 07 SS. I have 90k miles on my Impala LS and havent had it in the shop once! Its big, beautiful, responsive and has been the best car Ive ever owned. This has been the most trouble free ride.

  • All around great car! - 2003 Chevrolet Impala

This car is simply amazing. I have owned many cars in the past but this car is my favorite. The body style on this car looks great compared to many other sedans out there. Although this car is sportier than the other sedans out there, it still allows all the great features of its competitors. It fits six people comfortably and has a giant trunk for storage. Although this is the base model, it has more than enough power to get you wherever you need to go.

I had my eye on the Impalas for about a year when I finally decided to purchase one. And am I ever glad I did. Not only is it a "family" car, but it is the best looking, fun to drive car ever. That is a hard find these days. You need something to fit the family, but you dont want to look too much like your mother! And this is the car that has it all. There is not a single thing that I am dissatisfied with. I recommend it to all my family and friends.

  • Solid ride - Good to go so far - 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Bought this after renting an LS on business. LS trim/engine/styling made the difference compared to base trim/engine. Love the buckets, leather, rear spoiler, engine performance compared to the 3.4. Only quibbles for me are that suspension is a little hypersensitive on even slightly bumpy roads, and I get a little engine hesitation at very low RPMs (smooths out with a little gas pedal). Still trying to reliably duplicate these issues before I have dealer try to resolve under warranty. These are very minor quibbles, though - I have put over 7000 miles on it in 3 months, and its a great ride! Cant beat bang for the buck, either.

If you want to buy an American family sedan and want great value, the Impala is a good choice. Ive driven the 2000 LS model for three years and test drove the 2003 LS w/ Sport Appearance. The exterior styling is bold and sporty while the new sport appearance package gives the car a cool Corvette look. The 200 horsies provide plenty of low-end torque and the transmission is smooth as silk in the 3.8L V6. The leather seats are comfortable even on very long drives and the two-tone plastic dash looks clean and stylish. Dont let the elitists scare you away from this car! My 2000 Impala never spent one night at the dealer.

  • Great Family Sedan, Cheap Mechanics - 2003 Chevrolet Impala
    By -

Bought this Impala new. Now has 81,000 miles. Best family sedan out. Have 3 children and all fit comfortably in backseat with plenty of luggage space. Great gas mileage and comfortable for long trips. Adequate acceleration, braking and handling. Mechanically, apparently cost accountants undercut engineering, hurting Chevys reputation. Twice had to have steering shaft repacked with lube since steering column felt "loose". At 80,000 miles intake gasket gave out leaking antifreeze, costing $700 to repair. My 1st car was a 65 Corvair with 44,000 miles. Gaskets leaked oil. Replaced them with better quality and car lasted 100,000 more miles with no leaks when I sold it. When will Chevy learn?
