This Year's Model Updates:

Chevrolet fiddles with the trim levels -- last year's base model is now the LS, while last year's LS model is now the LT.

Pros:
  • Low price, nimble handling, ample headroom, logical control layout, available MP3 player, loads of cargo room in hatchback models.
Cons:
  • Not much power, imprecise manual shifter, side airbags not available.

  • Um... its ugly. - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

My Dad bought it for me when my 1985 Toyota pickup blew a head gasket. All of the girls at my school think its cute, but I still say its ugly. iI was happy to work on the Toyota till it ran again. Im a 17 y/o girl and I pretty much hated my car until my Dad bought graphics to put on the side. So now its not as ugly, but Im still not really fond of it. It works for going too and from school, but not for working with my horses. So its not really all that great for a farm girl.

  • Wow, what a car - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

I love this little car. I have never owned a small car. It is fun to drive in city or highway. The engine is a bit small especially if going up hill. Good gas mileage with automatic trans. 26 city 37 highway. No problems so far after 19000. There is room for 4 big people even on long trips. The front seat is a bit uncomfortable for a big guy. I have notice driving thru snow is a little more difficult, maybe the tires and not the car.

Ive owned my Aveo for about 2 years. On the highway it gets excellent MPG (avg. 33-36 w/A/C). Decent MPG in the city. In my opinion, the engine is underpowered and highway acceleration can be scary. The car feels very light, which is very evident when driving over 65mph. Exterior feels cheap and dents very easily. It did, however, get very good crash test ratings. Overall, this is a good inexpensive car. Its unbelievably reliable, even in subzero temps. Do not try driving this thing on snowy roads.

I did quite a bit of reseach before buying this car. I test drove literally 13 different cars of all competitors. I found this car to be the best of them all. I am a 6 tall guy, and I felt the least cramped in this car of them all! A lot of my freinds ragged on me for buying such a small car, especially since I could afford a lot bigger car, but after I took them for a ride, they were believers! This car is huge on the inside, can fit a ton in the trunk. After driving it for a few months, I do have a couple of complaints, but just minor. 1) Needs a center arm rest 2) Can be a beast to handle in high winds. Overall this is a great car, and Ive driven a few, I reccomend!

  • Great Inexpensive Daily Driver - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

After owning this car almost a year/6200 miles its been a very reliable vehicle. Plenty of room for tall drivers despite its small stature. Performs well for a car its price. Plenty of features (power windows/locks/mirror/sunroof, keyless entry, CDw/mp3 capability) for an entry level car. If youre in the market for one now, I say wait for the 2007s to come out. Their look is MUCH improved over the 04-06 and they are getting a few more features not available on the 04-06s. The Aveo was the #1 selling car in its class for 05 and that should continue with the improved 07 model being released this year. My Performance/Fun ratings are low due to my having an 02 Camaro previously.

Only problems are door grip rattle, defroster noise, terrible tires Great on gas, fun to drive, more roomy than you would think, very comfortable for a small car, large trunk

  • A nice package indeed - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

I managed to get a Key Lime green version, which they dont normally offer. It sure is an attention getter. Ive been averaging 33-35mpg. Has a nice ride on the freeway, and no problem doing 80 when you need it. Great interior with plenty of leg room. CD plays mp3s, so you can have a great selection of songs on a few CDs.

  • Love my Aveo - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

I bought this car at the end of summer 2005. When I first saw it I thought it was very small on the outside. But once you get into the Aveo and drive it, youre suprised how much room there is. When i first drove it I was suprised with the spunk of the engine. The little thing is so fun to drive. I bought the LS sedan. I really think there should be more standard options in this Aveo. Like a better sound system, better speaker placement. I also think there needs to be more noise dampening. Road noise in this thing stinks. I will always be a Chevy fan first, but if they want to compete with Toyota and Honda I think there should be more options.

It is a fun car to drive, kinda like a super go-cart for big kids. I really like the way this car drives and it is peppy for being only 1.6L--a great city car and good for short trips (200-350 miles).

  • A decent if not ordinary vehicle - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

After putting about 2000 mi on this model, I am generally very pleased with it. The high speed handling is competent, and it feels good behind the wheel. on a recent 600 mi trip on the interstate, I got 34 mpg. Around town I am getting 26-28. It has all the room I need, takes washboard and bumpy roads with grace, and has an overall decent feel. I come from a Toyota/Honda history, so I was very pleasantly surprised the Aveo was so nice. I dont like the fact I cant see the end of the hood or even behind. Im a lousy parallel parker, and these factors dont help. Im disappointed the rear has a blind spot. I would recommend this model to anybody interested in economy without investing a lot
