Overview & Reviews
Chevrolet fiddles with the trim levels -- last year's base model is now the LS, while last year's LS model is now the LT.
- Low price, nimble handling, ample headroom, logical control layout, available MP3 player, loads of cargo room in hatchback models.
- Not much power, imprecise manual shifter, side airbags not available.

Great mileage - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo
By idlework - August 27 - 8:03 amGreat mileage...loved it so much we went back to dealership 4 months later to buy another for daughter in college. EXCELLENT Mileage on highway. City MPG fluctuates. Both cars had service engine light come on at 70,000 miles-both O sensor. Daughter hit herd of deer at 50 mph, car lost but she was unhurt. Small but safe. Hate the tires that come with it from manufacturer--both cars needed replaced within 15,000 miles. Heat and air nice. Got hatchbacks and everything fits when seats folded down! Put a 5 ft Xmas tree in there every year...also bought 6 ft kitchen counter top at Lowes and it fit!

Our little pill car - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo
By Happy Pancake - August 10 - 11:17 amWe called this car our little pill. It was white, and shaped just like a gel tab of Tylenol. :) For using this car as a primary means of communication to and from work, I give this car a 10! For having enough room to fit 2 carseats, a stroller, and a passenger, thats it! Forget groceries or driving the mother-in-law somewhere.

80,000 miles, no problems - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo
By Gene - July 1 - 8:13 pmHello, Im reading through all the previous posts and amazed of all the problems that people are having. As of July 1, 2009 I have 80,000 miles on mine. It will be four years old in October. I will admit the original tires were junk, I replaced them at around 20,000 and now have Toyos. The new tires are wearing awesome, I can probably get around 75,000 miles on them. Other then that, oil change every 5k, rotate tires every 10k. My goal was to get 100,000 miles on it (five years). Gas mileage, I travel 85 miles per day and I have been getting 34-37 MPG

Best car I have ever had - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo
By E Smith - March 20 - 11:47 pmI now have over 100,000 miles on my car and it has only been in the shop for maintenance. Drives great and has LOTS of power. I can go all the way up the Grapevine (in Calif) at 65 mph no problem. The only challenge I have had is that is seems to have trouble starting up first thing in the morning (especially when its cold). My husband, children and myself are all very all people and we fit in this car very easily with plenty of leg room (yes looks are deceiving). This car has lots of room for hauling things around. Maneuverability is good - lots of fun to drive. The key maintenance issues are to be faithful about oil changes and change the timing chain every 40,000 to 50,000 miles.

**GREAT VALUE** - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo
By Denisenjeff - August 3 - 4:26 pmWe just bought the 2005 Aveo with AC and got it for $8397.00, it was a fantastic deal. Best warranty out of all Chevy vehicles (that was a plus) We commute 100 miles RT to work and back and needed something CHEAP all around! CHEAP on fuel consumption and cheap to buy! Very good value for this car for sure.

Great car, poor A/C - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo
By DW - May 27 - 6:26 pmI think that this car is great. Good on gas, and just enough room for me and my son. However every summer I am having A/C problems. The A/C never gets cold enough and when it does start to work I cant use the A/C adapter and air conditioner at the same time.So charging my cell during road trips are usually out of the question. Other than that the car is great. The heating system works great and no other complaints.

aveo - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo
By jclay - January 23 - 10:00 amI enjoy driving it makes a great 2nd car for work, especially the gas mileage, just getting started and first two tanks 29-32 mpg. Was purchase to use in my hobby soon as I retire next spring. The key is hard to insert and would like to have a locking gas cap. Also would like to have cruise control.

Reliable and easy on the gas! - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo
By Denise - December 30 - 4:53 pmBest features on this vehichle is the reliability and the gas mileage. These were most important to me as I drive 100 miles RT to work M-F. Storage space very good, both inside the car, and the trunk. A bit noisy on the highway, and really lacks power up hills....but still overall, drives pretty good. I havent had any major problems, just bad tires, or a car that creates bad tires, dont know. The price reflects the car you are buying, just the basics! Meaning, no power anything, and just AM/FM radio, but then I just bought the car to get me from work and back, and it does that just fine. Price unbeatable.

Two Months and Counting - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo
By halogen - September 18 - 5:20 pmThe car feels much more expensive than its price would indicate. It has decent acceleration with the automatic transmission, great brakes, and a fine level of fit and finish. The steering is nimble and precise, with good smooth ride quality. During sharp turns, youll notice how skinny and unsupportive the front seats are. The brake and gas pedals are very close together, and if you have big feet or drive wearing boots its easy to hit both pedals at once. This is my first new car. Previously owned newer Toyota Tercels. This car spanks the Tercel like a homeless dog.

Gas mileage and air conditioning bad - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo
By MJF - May 7 - 10:44 pmTruly enjoy this car, but gas mileage stinks. Only 22 mpg. AC barely takes edge off in hot weather. Took it in to dealership and all checks out. Cant complain about anything else at all. Was in front end collision and the passenger compartment had no damage at all!
