This Year's Model Updates:

The BMW 3 Series sedan and wagon have been completely redesigned for 2006. Major highlights include new features, more powerful engines, a slightly larger interior and the incorporation of BMW's latest exterior styling elements. The 3 Series coupe and convertible are unchanged this year but will eventually move over to the new platform being used for the sedan and wagon; expect to see a new hardtop convertible for the 2008 model year.

Pros:
  • Still the standard when it comes to perfectly sorted vehicle dynamics, high-quality interior materials, wide range of configurations to suit any style, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Still costs more than most of its competitors, lacking in interior storage space.

  • 2006 325i - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I bought my 2006, new body, 325i about 3 month ago, love the way it looks, although rims could have been bigger than 16 inches. Interior is not so impressive, handles awesome and highway passing power is great, but, lacks off line power. Fuel economy so far averages at 24 mpg while using 89 octane every other 2 full tanks using 87 octane. Furthermore, as of 3 months, a tire pressure sensor, air bag sensor, driver seat belt, radio and shift knob has been replaced, boy am I glad for warranty and maintenance plan. Although I would not want another vehicle, I think BMW could have done better.

  • Nice car - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Handles very well and looks great. Not as fast off the line as Id like for the money. Looking into aftermarket parts to fill the gap here. Still more fun to drive than most competitors. Not the best value in its class (G35) but its worth it if you can spare the extra change. Test drove a WRX STI just for fun - if you could put that motor in the 330i, youd have the worlds most perfect car.

  • Beautiful Bimmer - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I used to have the 2001 325i and that was a joy to drive. This years redesign is even better. It corners beautifully and it has the right amount of power and it looks stylistic. Its a little pricier than other sedans in the same class but its well worth it when you look at the performance, build quality, and handling.

  • Best Car Ive Owned - 2006 BMW 3-Series

This 330xi is amazing. Quality is superb. I know not all folks have had good experience but this car handles out of this world. Suspension, brakes, etc. Highly recommend this jewel! RFTs? Hmm, still not sure Im a fan but so far, so good!

This is car is a pleasure to drive. It handles well in the corners. Get the 330. If you have the extra cash then spend it on the best automobile. This car inspires confidence in the corner.

this is my third 3 series... previously drove a 2000 323i and 2003 325ci. One half mile from the dealership on the day I took delivery the bluetooth became inoperable. works intermittenly. the car just spent 15 days in the dealership trying to fix this-- still not right. car also shimmys at 70 mph.. bmw knows there is a problem --- they are looking into. dont buy a car the first year of a major re-do. wait for the kinks to be ironed out.

  • Great Car but Uncomfortable Seats - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

I wanted to provide a quick word of caution to anyone in the market for a BMW - thoroughly test the seats before you buy! I absolutely love the performance, handling and features of the BMW 330i, even the much maligned iDrive. I found the seats unbearable though and was thus forced to sell the car after only one month. The seats were just too stiff for me and would cause pain in my lower back and the right side of my hip. I am young, health guy of average size and weight (510/170 lbs), so ordinarily comfort is not an issue. My girlfriend and mom found the car perfectly comfortable, so perhaps the seats are a better fit for smaller folks. Such a shame, as I otherwise loved the car

  • Good deal - 2006 BMW 3-Series

This car in 2006 was overall the best value I could get. I test drove Lexus IS 250 and Acura TL which both have nicer interior layout. However, to get comparably equipped vehicle (leather, power seats, automatic, xenon lights) I would end up paying $2K - $3K more for them. Besides, BMW has smarter transmission and higher torque at lower RPMs that well compensates for lower horsepower, and a better feeling drive line. So, in all, it is a fun to drive car, performing somewhat better than competition and at a better price, plus the maintenance is included. I have never regretted getting it! P.S. Its OEM tires were awful, and I needed to replace them at 18K miles.

  • ONE SWEET RIDE!!! - 2006 BMW 3-Series

This car is a great daily drive. Its sporty and luxurious. Also get great gas mileage for the powerful engine it has.

  • Not a bad ride! - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I really like this car, but I was well aware of most of its flaws before purchasing--so do your homework! It handles better than any car Ive ever driven (had Audi S4 before this)! Its got good acceleration than in years past (although slower than the S4). The audio system sounds about like what youd expect for a car in this price range. The iDrive isnt nearly as bad as everyone has said, but you must spend a few hours with the ops manual AS SOON AS YOU GET THE CAR - or at least soon after to enjoy all of its features. The NAV works pretty well, and the cd plays mp3s. However, whatever CD you have in plays continuously-the "off" button is only a "mute" button, so it keeps spinning.
