This Year's Model Updates:

The BMW 3 Series sedan and wagon have been completely redesigned for 2006. Major highlights include new features, more powerful engines, a slightly larger interior and the incorporation of BMW's latest exterior styling elements. The 3 Series coupe and convertible are unchanged this year but will eventually move over to the new platform being used for the sedan and wagon; expect to see a new hardtop convertible for the 2008 model year.

Pros:
  • Still the standard when it comes to perfectly sorted vehicle dynamics, high-quality interior materials, wide range of configurations to suit any style, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Still costs more than most of its competitors, lacking in interior storage space.

  • Hmm - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I leased this one after having a 2003 BMW 325i (E46), and was actually expecting more performance, as the HP got increased 17%, however, the car remained to be pretty much the same. In addition, the RFT Bridgestones are very noisy! They screwed up the cup holders as well as the window and locking commands - I believe that they were better in the old BMWs. Otherwise, everything else is very good, and I love the new feature of having the automated wipers and Bluetooth connectivity with my cellular phone.

  • 330i 6-Auto is a nice car! - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

Ive owned this car almost a month now, and I really like it. It has very good handling for a 4-door car. Its fairly quick on acceleration, I think mainly because it has a really good first gear. Also, the brakes are astounding! Its really amazing what this car does for you... it has auto (rain sensing) wipers, a cooled cup holder, headlights that follow the road, and all kinds of other neat stuff thats too much to list. I never looked at a foreign car before, but Im really glad I did because this BMW is completely a nice car. You wont be sorry if you consider it for purchase.

  • A hit once again! - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

Second 3 series is a hit! Got auto sport/lux package. Smooth powerful ride. Easy to reach 100 mph without realizing it. Poor mpg however (22 mpg avg). Should have gotten the nav system. Great larger tires (18in) but run flat is hard (and expensive to replace, $250/each rear). Sluggish 1st gear to 2nd gear, better on sport mode. Sport seats get adjustable side bolster!!

  • My First BMW - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

This is my first BMW and I purchase almost all the options available. premium Pk, Sport Pk, Cold Weather Pk, Navigation System. It is very fun to drive and has great cornering stability. Acceleration is good except offline, midrange is powerful. iDrive is very robust but it takes time to learn. All in all, money well spent.

  • Best handling sedan - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Details: Auto + Prem Package. No Sport Package. The 3.0L engine of the 325i is very powerful and responsive. I personally it is very enough for road driving. No need to get 330i unless you are speed freak. Acceleration is very fast and linear. It feels faster than the IS300 and G35. The solid steering with DSC make driving this car fast very easy. The suspensing is firm but somehow it can smooth out the rough road when needed. Amazing. The auto transmission is very smooth with no jerking at all. The steptronic is responsing much faster than the one in IS300 and G35. I like the E90 styling as it is more modern and the head lamp has aggressive stance.

  • 6 week owner - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

Purchased it used 6 weeks ago with 79,000 miles after driving a Chevy Avalanche for 14 years and 178000 miles on it. Love the AWD aspect and the manual transmission. Very comfortable front seats and fun to drive.

  • Not as expected - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

Owned a 93 325i. this is my 2nd 325i. I am so disappointed. stereo sound quality is substandard, acceleration is poor, transmission screams noisy "whirr" sound (done intentionally by BMW), shifting D to SD is awkard, front cupholder spoils liquid onto stereo and shift gears, not iPod-ready, combo computer-stereo display is hard to reach and adjust, center dashboard casts a large distracting shadow while driving under blazing sun, various warning signals come on and off by itself, car jerks during quick stops (BMW says its normal), little storage space, window switches are too far front. Sadly, after 5mo, there is nothing I can brag about as a owner. I regret it.

  • A big change from an SUV - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

Ive enjoyed owning the 330i, however it has been a big change from an SUV. For someone who is taller it is much harder to get in and out of. You must fall in and climb out of the vehicle. Also, the sport package is great, until it snows. The traction control worked as long as you were moving. Once you stop you are stuck. It feels great to drive but the tires like to follow the grooves of the road and you feel every bump. The sport wheels are also very difficult to keep perfect as the rim is so low to the ground. It is very easy to ding and scratch your rims. All in all it has been fun to drive.

  • Last BMW - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

I have driven BMWs for years but this is my last. Replacing the run flats at $1300 every 8 months didnt make sense. Plus, run flats gave it a terrible ride and handling and very noisy. I replaced tires with non run flats. Handled like my previous BMWs but no spare, no room for a spare. The resale value didnt hold up well. I bought a new Audi A4. Handles better, more features. I will not buy another BMW.

  • The best of the small sport sedans - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

BMW 325i version with limited options, automatic, luxury package is a good value and still priced higher than the rest. It is the best for driving experience especially at hwy speeds and gets 32 MPG.
