This Year's Model Updates:

The BMW 3 Series sedan and wagon have been completely redesigned for 2006. Major highlights include new features, more powerful engines, a slightly larger interior and the incorporation of BMW's latest exterior styling elements. The 3 Series coupe and convertible are unchanged this year but will eventually move over to the new platform being used for the sedan and wagon; expect to see a new hardtop convertible for the 2008 model year.

Pros:
  • Still the standard when it comes to perfectly sorted vehicle dynamics, high-quality interior materials, wide range of configurations to suit any style, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Still costs more than most of its competitors, lacking in interior storage space.

  • After 8 months - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Window buttons hard to reach, cup holders useless, iDrive is finicky, A/C and heater not as powerful as my Honda Accord, voice command option is all but useless. That being said I love my 325i. Ive got 10K miles on it now. MPG is okay, handling is fantastic, acceleration is good in auto, great in semi-manual. A young guy in a 2004 330i thought hed get the better of me at a light - he was wrong. Ride is firm but smooth. Car paid for itself when a much younger girl said "Wow, very nice car" to me the day after I bought it - very shallow of me, but it was still reaffirming.

  • What can I say... its a Beemer - 2006 BMW 3-Series

My third BMW. My first BMW was the first brand new car I ever owned and Ill probably keep getting a new BMW every time. My first impression of this car is that it feels safe and handles well. Heck, I cant change the model of car I drive, my license plate reads: eBay BMW!!!

  • Not worth the aggravation! - 2006 BMW 3-Series

My 8th new BMW is a 330xi. It looks good & it drives good, however, all the aggravation related to the run flat tires has not been worth it. At 30,000 miles, I am on my 3rd set of tires. The bottom line is I dont enjoy this car and I resent BMW for my unhappiness with the car & the company. All the tire noise, the rough ride and all the inconveniences have really soured me on the car. In addition, I find the turn signals and the start button to be needlessly annoying.

Overall I have been very happy with my 06 325i. I get great gas mileage, it handles beautifully, although a little sportier than I am used to. The engineering I believe is unmatched by any vehicle. I had to slam on the brakes to avoid a deer and was shocked at the cars response, it stopped on a dime and didnt fishtail at all. I was amazed. I think they could spruce up the interior just a bit more, but I guess if you want total luxury (for the interior) you would need to move to the Lexus.

  • Its OK - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Rides rough, but is fun to drive after 75 or 80 mph. The seats are not really comfortable especially on a long trip. It does get good gas mileage and it will get you out in traffic without a problem. I really dont know if I will get another BMW. We always wanted one and now that we can afford one, Im not as impressed as I thought I would be.

  • Quality problems - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I own the BMW for last 11 months and drove 12000 miles. It is creating troubles for me steadily. During the first month I had to replace the ball bearing of the front right wheel, the left window pane started making noise and was replaced. Navigation went down and was replaced this month. I have to change wipers every 2nd month. CD player and even parking sensors also got replaced with navigation. Now steering wheel has started making a ticking noise. Air noise also started inc. day by day. Dealer says axle problem so need to be replaced. My car is under warranty so I am getting these treatments free of cost. I just cant imagine what would happen after the warranty ends.

  • short of expectations - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Run flat tires are a disaster. Three flats in 750 miles. Need a mouhpiece to protect your teeth if you hit even a small pot hole. Software is poorly integrated. Give me a few mechanical options like a simple switch to control dash lights. Dealer service people couldnt readily explain "initializing" the tire pressure. Handles very well and engine is smooth. Brakes are excellent. Thankfully I only leased this car. Would never buy it. Had previous 5 series: much better. Just could not stand the new styling.

  • Wait a week for tires!?! - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

Coming from the older 530i to the new 325i is part of the problem, Im sure, but the ride on this new 3-series is horrible! Between the sports suspension and the run flat tires, I feel every tiny bump! Also, even though I live in Houston, its taking a week to get replacement tires!! BMW just tells me "Well, the tires will become more available." Also I can drive to the gas station and back (4 miles), and even after 2 hours, you cannot hold your hand where the hood meets the fender, the temp is so hot! I have a 3-car garage and this BMW is heating the whole thing 10-15 degress higher than the outside temp! Service tech tells me everything is "normal". Very unhappy overall.

  • still love it the 2nd time around - 2006 BMW 3-Series
    By -

My 2nd BMW 325i, first is 1993. and I still love it, though performance under "D" shift is sluggish and a bit weak, and Im still not sure if the auto-tilt-downward side mirror when in "R" shift is helpful or not; however, there are no blind spots with these new mirror shapes. Exterior is still elegant and fun, but much more aggressive looking than its predecessors. The Start/Stop button and the remote control are just out-of-this-world cool. Interior Radio console has become hugely sophisticated with an array of A/V entertainment input choices. The new plushy interior covering is soft and gentle to the touch. Overall, this is still a great sports sedan that is also pricey.
