This Year's Model Updates:

BMW has seen fit to give the sedans and wagons a facelift for 2002. An in-dash CD player finally makes it onto the standard features list. The center stack has been altered to accommodate the new automatic climate controls. Steptronic automanual operation has been altered so that you move the transmission lever forward for downshifts and backward for upshifts. Bi-xenon headlamps are on the options list so that both low and high beams can glow a cold blue and can be set to automatic operation. Rear side airbags are available for coupes and convertibles. Two new colors, Electric Red and Gray Green (and a Natural Brown interior leather) join the color spectrum.

Pros:
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Pricey for their market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

  • My Story....... - 2002 BMW 3-Series
    By -

I have been on a first name basis with my BMW mechanic. My 2001 BMW has been in the shop 5 times with one stint lasting a little over 2 weeks with only 4,000 miles on it! The auto transmission failed miserably, too many failures to list, and it still has problems shifting. The passenger air bag has been replaced along with the explosive charge. Some of my rattles have been fixed, and I found a new one today within the driver side door. This has been a nightmare.

  • Awesome car - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I bought this Certified Pre-Owned car with 11,000 miles. There were several things that needed replacing that was thankfully covered by warranty. Ive had no other problems since the warranty expired a year ago. Its such a fun car to drive and a real head-turner.

My only complaint about this car is that it is terrible in the snow. Otherwise, its great. I love it.

  • 2002 330i - 2002 BMW 3-Series

This is the most solid vehicle that I have ever driven. Everything is put together very tight and the drive is amazing. I thought it was out of my price range, until I looked at resale values. The sport seats are worth the option price. These are the most comfortable seats I have set in, except for the 5 series sport seats. I used the MAG dealership in OH and it was the easiest buy I have ever had. They gave me $1500 off sticker on an ordered car. Nobody else in the area would touch their price.

  • Completely satisfied with purchase - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I purchased a BMW 330ci with the common accesory groups; sunroof, leather, xenon lights, performance tires, steptronic tranmission. The car provides smooth quiet power, assured stability, prompt braking even on rain- slicked roads and a relaxing, enjoyable driving experience. In 30 years of driving, having owned 15 previous vehicles, this is by far the best overall. Dealer is highly recommended.

  • Going for 300K - 2002 BMW 3-Series
    By -

We (wife and I) bought this with 14K on odo. It looked and felt like new even though I was hesitant about the price. It is now 173K still feels like new and looks... well not new but good. These days you need a car to outlast the payments. I plan to go for 300K on this. This is the first car I feel comfortable making that attempt. It has had a few things fail. These were the window regulators (all 4) and a piece of trim. The 3 is a tough little car. Looking to get 2nd one.

I bought this car new and had it ever since. Never seen a mechanic since purchase. I put a custom bodykit, 20 inch rims. cold air intake. Car is awesome and still drives like new. Wished i had got the stick instead. Gas average 27 (city/hwy). that is very good. Good power. I dont know about those who had bad mechanical experience with bmw, But I would love to get another i35, 335 or m3 someday.

  • My Mother In Law Was Right. Darn it. - 2002 BMW 3-Series
    By -

My mother in law had a bad experience with a BMW in the 1980s, and told me that "BMW" stood for "Break My Wallet" when I drove home my beautiful brand new 2002 330i. Well, she was right. In addition to expensive regular maintenance costs, I paid a staggering $10,000 in post-warranty repairs, including a replacement transmission, broken drivers side window motor, radiator leak, tire rims that mysteriously cracked, headlight control switch, and seat motor. When the car worked, it was gorgeous and fun to drive, but not nearly worth the obscene repair costs. Adding insult to injury, my mother in laws judgment was correct, and I just traded in my BMW and then bought a Lexus like she did.

  • WOW!! - 2002 BMW 3-Series

With the 325Xi is imposible to get in trouble. Neither New England rigid winters nor humid Summers can make gthis car underperform. All the electronic gadgets actually work. (I personally tested every single one of them).

  • 325i - 2002 BMW 3-Series
    By -

My 325i have sport, winter & premium packages. I have owned this car for about 8 months, and drove it about 10000 miles. Its been a great car with pleasure to drive specially in handling. Minor problems only once in while check light goes on for back tail light, but its easy fix. So far, thank god no major problem after driving a lot. Im very satisfied with this car.
