This Year's Model Updates:

BMW has seen fit to give the sedans and wagons a facelift for 2002. An in-dash CD player finally makes it onto the standard features list. The center stack has been altered to accommodate the new automatic climate controls. Steptronic automanual operation has been altered so that you move the transmission lever forward for downshifts and backward for upshifts. Bi-xenon headlamps are on the options list so that both low and high beams can glow a cold blue and can be set to automatic operation. Rear side airbags are available for coupes and convertibles. Two new colors, Electric Red and Gray Green (and a Natural Brown interior leather) join the color spectrum.

Pros:
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Pricey for their market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

  • I love this car!!!!! - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I have never loved a car more and I will never drive anything else again. It is totally awesome. The performance and handling are outstanding and it takes my breath away just to drive it. Im always looking for things to do and places to go just so I can drive it. I got the 5-speed and then had second thoughts but it was too late and Im so glad. Its a blast.

  • Best car I have ever owned - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I purchased this vehicle new in 2002, with the sport package and premium interior. Ive not had a single mechanical problem with it. Just had its 60k mile checkup. They found some minor wear-and-tear issues, nearly all of which were amazingly covered by the extended warranty I purchased. This car has been an absolute joy to own and drive. The performance and handling still put a smile on my face. I never thought I would enjoy an automatic transmission (have always driven stick), but the steptronic works so well, I dont miss the stick at all! I do agree about the tires though - I go through them frequently, especially the rears. Go figure! :-)

I love the car. I would change a couple of interior design features, but it is exhilarating to drive, gets very good gas mileage for its class and looks great!

Before buying this car I was at odds with my old car and really needed a new car.

  • Best car in its market, hands down! - 2002 BMW 3-Series
    By -

I bought my 325i in May 2002. I have no regrets only praises. I have put lots of miles on this car, over 7000, with zero problems. It gets much better gas mileage than listed in the brochures. Were talking 450 to 500 miles per tank! its a pleasure to drive. And people give the same reaction when I tell them what I drive. A little nod and they say "Nice." You dont get that reaction with an Audi or a Jetta or most others. The reputation is warranted with this vehicle again. Best money I ever spent on a car. And I drove every car within a few thousand of its price range.

  • Fun! - 2002 BMW 3-Series

Ive had this car for 8 months now, and its just so much fun to drive (5 speed, sports package), with the top down, of course. I often find myself taking the long route or making extra trips for errands. Design and build quality is top-notch. The horse power is nothing to write home about, but its quite quick, especially with the DSC turned off. It took me a little while to get used to the low first gear.

  • Cool Car - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I just bought this car 3 days ago and so far it has been a dream to drive. The only thing that Im having a problem with right now is my engine coolant. Its a little low so water had to be added until the dealer can look at it on Monday. Called him yesterday and he said he knows its not a major problem, probably just that somebody didnt put enough coolant in the car. Other than that, the car handles great in the curves and has good acceleration for an 184 hp car. I love the way it sounds when you give it a little more gas when accelerating.

  • Still a car of aspiration - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I was going to buy a Passat- my wife liked the Bimmer. Guess what happened? It still turns heads. A cardiologist we know complimented us on our choice. It drives like the premium car it is. The exterior and interior appearance and finish are great (of course), the in-line six is sweet, responsive and torquey, and the steering, handling, suspension and brakes are outstanding. A full roster of luxury amenities are available. Back seat and trunk space are adequate, not generous. Fuel economy is decent. Sticker shock gave way to a warm glow. Isnt that what a car of aspiration should do?

  • Wow !! - 2002 BMW 3-Series

This car is amazing. My girlfriend and I were looking for a nice used luxury sports car and i had read many reviews on this vehicle. The reviews dont do it justice. This car is very quick and very nimble. I was really suprised at how much life this car has left in it with having 68K on the odometer but it purrs like a kitten. It also has great curb appeal. If you are looking for a great handling sports car, look no further. This car has it all and then some. The only downside is the interior plastic door handles squeak a bit. This may be do to the fact that the previous owner may have had them taken off the car.

  • 330ci - not a good choice... - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I have had nothing but problems with this car. The a/c didnt work from the factory and there are numerous other things too much to mention. Avoid this car, unless you have money to throw away.
