Overview & Reviews
Changes are minimal for the XC90's second year on the market. All models get wheel and tire upgrades -- 2.5Ts will wear 225/70R17 rubber and T6s will wear 235/65R17 rubber, but both get the same 17-inch "Neptune" wheels. Ice White is a new exterior color choice. Stand-alone options now include a wood steering wheel, aluminum dash inlays and a leather shift knob.
- Safe as a bank vault, plush ride, feels smaller than it is, high-quality interior materials, ample cargo room.
- Turbocharged T6 engine not well suited to SUV duty, third-row seating takes up too much second-row space.

Smart Girl, kids & 5 BIG poodles - 2004 Volvo XC90
By galvanek - December 29 - 2:00 amThis SUV gets style points and gets me where I need to go with my portfolio of manuscripts, two kids and three standard poodles! I love the feel, look and drive.

Wish I had test driven other models - 2004 Volvo XC90
By nana50 - December 29 - 2:00 amI am somewhat pleased with my XC90. I love the body style, the handling, the ease of controls and I have had absolutley no maintenance issues so far. I didnt realize how much I would miss the driver arm rests and I am surprised at how noisy and bumpy the ride is for the price of this car. My first choice was the Lexus Gx but was way out of my price range. The gas mileage on the XC90 is not that great either. I did find out however that it is okay to use regular unleaded in it. I put mid-grade in mine and performs well. If I had it to do over I would have liked to have looked at the new 330. I am reluctant to buy new models but have a friend who loves her.

No gimics. Great Versatility and safety. - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Jason P - December 29 - 2:00 amI have an XC90 T6 5 passenger. It is easy to drive around town, and is especially enjoyable on long trips with the family. The comfort of the front and rear seats and excellent electronic climate control make a long trip easy to tackle. Volvo did a nice job of notching out the back of the front seats to allow for additional knee space as well as providing a space under the seats to slip your feet. The cargo space and the versatility of the folding seats in the XC90 are exceptional. Having driven all of the other luxury SUV models on the market, the XC90 offers the best comfort, easiest drive, and without question the widest array of safety features.

Bulldog review - 2004 Volvo XC90
By drbulldog - December 29 - 2:00 amI love the car. We bought it for the safty features. We needed the extra room for a 3 child and did not want a mini van. It is a very classy vehicle inside and out.

A great vehicle but lots of repairs - 2004 Volvo XC90
By VolvoBuyer - December 29 - 2:00 amI came on this website because i have a bad dealership working on my XC90 T6 and want to inform other buyers. I have had it in the shop 4 times and the same problems keep recurring. The last problem was the seat which moves 1/4- 1/3 of on inch upon stopping and the dealership admits problem but wont replace the seat. I have a BMW 528 and E320 and bought Volvo for its reliability. Brakes have drag against the drum until mod was performed. Squeeking in front left strut upon turning. Interior molding has come loose or has been broken under normal wear. Car is costly but I expected better quality from Volvo. I say one thing - Buyer beware!

I love my XC90 - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Robert - December 26 - 4:16 pmThis is my third Volvo and my favorite. I love the space and everything about it. The white paint and excellent leather still look new. This is nicest vehicle I have owned and I have a few SUVs, even a 2006 Pathfinder, that was not near as nice. I understand two different vehicles, but the Volvo definitely fits me.

i must have gotten the good one - 2004 Volvo XC90
By doug - December 1 - 1:03 amwe have put all but 23 miles on this vehicle and are not unhappy. 5 cylinder is a bit noisy on hard acceleration but we change the oil when due, put gas in the tank and drive. still has original battery, did do the 105000 maintenance. at 70000 put front break pads on. just put the 3rd set of tires on last august this vehicle can carry a lot of stuff. the back seats are rather flat so no comfortable for long trips however like ivory soap, only two of us ride in the think 99.44%of the time. we can get 2 bicycles in but it is a hassle so they go on top. only if i go by myself do a bike go inside. expect to drive at least another 100000 miles before retiring

Great SUV - 2004 Volvo XC90
By RBURD - November 28 - 10:00 amQuiet, performance, spacious, great to drive, power, excellent options, all wrapped in a volvo saftey net! I would tell anyone wanting an SUV that drives like a car, handles exceptionally and is quiet to buy this one. We have owned 3 other SUVs and this is the best yet. Go for the T6! It is a big difference.

Our Family Volvo - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Danny Rey - November 22 - 2:00 amThe car is a little tight for my 6 2" height. Next to impossible to reach into the back seat and deal with baby in a middle car seat facing backwards. This is due to the head rest. You feel well protected on a cold rainy day. Car is tight and solid on the road. Gives me a peace of mind knowing that my wife and two babies are in what I feel is one of the safest vehicles on the road.
