Overview & Reviews
The new Volkswagen Rabbit, which is the next-generation VW Golf, but with the nostalgic, U.S.-only name last used in the early 1980s, was introduced late in the 2006 model year. For the 2007 Rabbit, VW adds an auxiliary audio input jack for MP3 players, an optional Apple iPod-specific adapter and an optional tire-pressure monitor. Cruise control actuation has also been simplified.
- Comfortable ride, rich interior materials, many safety features, roomy interior, solid build quality.
- Can get pricey with options, handling and styling might not be sporty enough for younger buyers.

Longest Car I Ever Owned - 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit
By smokeymaxwell - November 18 - 10:23 amI bought my 2007 VW Rabbit from the dealer brand new in 2007. It was the base model with a manual 5 speed. What an awesome car for the money. It was quick, very responsive, had no bothersome stability control and was fun to drive. At most, I would keep a car around 1 to 2 years. I kept this Rabbit for 5 years because I loved it. The 2.5L engine was strong (I say this because the same engine in later years was de-tuned for gas mileage savings). The car never let me down, never made any weird noises, and was totally reliable. The hatch was convenient to use and fit a ton of stuff. The only thing I didnt like and changed right away was the factory radio. I put an aftermarket Alpine.

Excellent Value for the Money! - 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit
By Henry - October 10 - 11:20 pmThis car is an absolute dream! Ive driven it every day for 8 months now and I still have a smile on my face! This thing is so fun to drive. When I was shopping, I looked at Scion tC, Nissan Sentra, Honda Fit, Dodge Caliber and none of them compare with the VWs power, safety, and standard features! Everything is included in the price! Only small negative I can find is the gas mileage. It could be better but you always have to make a trade-off. Id rather have more power and gas mileage isnt too bad. Ive been averaging 22 mi/gal. 90% city driving agressively. If youre in the market for this, I would wait for the 08 model which will have 170 horses and other improvements!

Just Bought, AWESOME! - 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit
By ladeyluck3 - September 22 - 7:20 pmI just bought my Rabbit and am OVERJOYED to have it. I went from a Blazer to this car and it meets all the needs I had with better gas mileage and more comfort. I happened upon this car while searching for an SUV. Great price, great quality as expected from VW. My 1st car was VW, and I love the reliability. Good stereo, great handling, I love the rear foldable seats. Great pickup and go, even with the a/c on! Very compassionate about this car! Passed over a 2010 Kia Soul for this car. Very satisfied! Dont pass up this car if you find one... havent seen many. Heated seat a great plus! :) Very happy with my purchase from SUV to car. Consider it a "crossover". :)

Unbeatable Value - 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit
By bwian - July 15 - 5:13 amFrom the moment I bought my Rabbit, I was smitten. The 2.5 liter engine growls a bit when you step on it (which i like), but otherwise is very quiet and responsive, even in 5th gear on the freeway. The seats are firm but comfy and the dash is laid out nicely. The red-on-violet instrument cluster is complemented nicely by the soft red interior lighting...quite sexy. I didnt think the one-tap lane-change feature was such a big deal until I used it. One tap and the turn signal blinks three times without having to hold it, nice. I whittled my original list of 12 cars down to 5 and then test drove them all. The Rabbit beat them all out in the price-to-value category, big time.

Near Perfect Car - 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit
By Brian - July 5 - 11:20 pmI traded in a 01 Audi A4 for my 07 5-door Rabbit. I loved my A4, but I love the Rabbit more. The only feature missing from my Audi is the Homelink and auto-dim mirrors. Everything else is just as good or better. This was definitely not a step down. Everything about this car is just right and the value is unbeatable. Its quick, fast, and super comfortable. Youre not likely to come across many others out on the roads, so its cool to be driving a unique car. I agree with the poster that said if they made this any nicer, it would be an Audi. I thought I might regret not getting the GTI, but I definitely do not. While I love the 2.0T, this 2.5 is a fantastic engine.

Rabbit vs. Mazda3 / Civic / Fit = Rabbit Wins - 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit
By gumpyoldman - July 3 - 9:00 pmI test drove a Fit, a Civic, Corolla, Matrix, Mazda3 and a Versa. The Rabbit was by far the most impressive of the bunch. I never though Id own another VW but the Rabbit was far and away the better driving car so one is now in my driveway. Its gas mileage is better than I had expected and it handles really well. It is a great little snow car too!

Never a boring car to drive... - 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit
By marusik - June 29 - 9:50 amAlthough I dont drive as much as I used to, its always fun to drive the Rabbit under any driving conditions, rain or shine, either city or highway for long trips or short ones, but especially on twisty roads. The ride is always quite and comfortable... After reading some of the negative reviews about reliability issues on this model, Ive got a little bit concern, especially about the life of the brake pads, so I decided to check them out at 20000 miles and I was told that will probably last another 20K miles. Of course brakes life as well as gas mileage are subjective to every drivers attitude and driving styles...

The Rabbit is a Wonderful Car! - 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit
By k8er07 - June 11 - 2:30 pmThe Rabbit is not only an attractive car, it is very safe. I was in an accident, and it saved my life. The Rabbit is very affordable, and is the perfect car for the city, a student, or especially someone directly out of school.

this car is perfect until.... - 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit
By hippo1105 - May 22 - 8:29 pmI wonder if anyone has this problem. This car worked perfect until last year. The car will suddenly shut down with no reason. It has happened for serveral times now. Since my extended warrenty is still good, they suggest me to bring it back to the dealers. However, the dealers cant find any problem, plus charge me $100 for checking it. I tried to call VW customer couples time and told them the problem. They keep asking me to go to the dealer. Sure I have already paid $100 for it, why would I keep paying VW for their faults. I bought it new from the dealer in 2007. Now they just cant provide any service. What is the point to buy the extented warrenty? No more VW for me!

2007 Rabbit - 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit
By Uncle B - April 3 - 2:23 amI like it so far. Ive only had it for a few weeks. It doesnt get the gas mileage stated but I was also told that it would take a few thousand miles for the engine to break in and then I would get the good gas mileage. Its getting about 23-24 mpg and I drive mostly around town. I noted some of my dislikes below but for the most part VW really did it right and most of it is all standard. That is what I love most is that all the "extra" features are already standard on this vehicle!! I show mine off to friends and they all ask how much this or that cost me extra and I say "Nothing!"
