Best Vehicle Yet - 2001 Volkswagen Eurovan
By pathlesstravel - June 30 - 8:13 pmIve owned many types of cars and minivans but our 2001 Eurovan weekender is by far the most flexible and fun even though its now 13 years old. With 3 small kids and time off, my wife and I meandered 1,600 miles across California off the beaten path and had way too much fun. Its a home while on the road and the club seating means the kids face each other for hours of travel without fatigue. Anywhere we park the kids have a hangout. Mechanically its quiet and powerful. We change the oil and trans fluid more frequently than specified by VW. It has 131,000 miles and still drives solid. Visibility is good and interior size feels generous. We are not a bells and whistles family.

Thank goodness for warranties - 2001 Volkswagen Eurovan
By MacDaddy - May 23 - 1:06 pmI have had nothing but trouble with this van. I had the transmission replaced, air compressor, front steering totally replaced, wiper motors, engine computer sensors, and bad tires because of poor steering alignment. I am in the process of kissing this hunk of junk good bye. I will not buy another VW product. In fact I warn others against it.

Its not 1972 any more! - 2001 Volkswagen Eurovan
By peterr - August 26 - 10:00 amOriginally purchased todrive our daughter from PA to FL to college, it has become an everyday favorite of mine and our first choice for any long distance driving. Exceptional power and handling that actually feels "Sporty", even on small country roads despite its boxy appearance. The geared down 201HP V6 has great power. The weekend 4- some fits easily with 4 sets of golf clubs. Great at winter driving with ABS and traction control. Access requires quite a step up which can be problematic for older individuals.

Zippy, roomy van - 2001 Volkswagen Eurovan
By Cheech - February 17 - 10:00 amI have had VW vans in the past. I liked them for a bunch of reasons. The 01 Eurovan roomy and very comfortable, even traveling with my family of seven. Its already been said, but the Volkswagen Eurovan is decidedly different. Its shaped like a box where others are round and bubbly. It has a significantly higher driving position. It also offers unique options, such as rear-facing second-row seats, pull out beds, window curtains and a camper body. All that plus a few peace signs make this van easy to own.

V ersatile Vehicle - 2001 Volkswagen Eurovan
By Tubaman - January 15 - 10:00 amI bought this Eurovan used, less than a year old with about 11000 miles, still under warranty. No mechanical problems except a driveline seal replaced under warranty. (Ive always had it serviced at University VW in Albuquerque.) I find it very comfortable to drive long distances, but my wife finds the seats too tall (seat to floor) for sustained comfort. Acceleration is fair with the VR6. Fuel economy is about 20 mpg. The Evan can pull a light trailer too.

Im glad I overlooked the editors review - 2001 Volkswagen Eurovan
By mogies - January 1 - 10:00 amI am overjoyed with our purchase of a 2001 eurovan. It has great pickup and great looks plenty of room and fun, fun, fun to drive. We looked at many different types of vehicles, including SUVs, before we purchased it. Once I got in and drove it, I knew it was the one for us. Because there are not many of these vehicles on the road (unlike the standard minivan)people stare wondering what it is. The other day a man flashed me a peace sign. What more can I say!

I used to love German quality - 2001 Volkswagen Eurovan
By Pat - February 1 - 8:43 pmJust bought this vehicle-had 10 hour drive to get it (handicap van) now fixing all the electrical issues. I have always loved the German engineering but the asian cars have QC! I am old school, dont think you should have to pay $300 for a key or $300 for an igniter that replaced a $3 set of points - thats "progress?" I guess I know too much about engineering, mechanics, electronics, etc. It must be easy to design products without regard to cost to the client!

alot more for the price - 2001 Volkswagen Eurovan
By RANGER - November 11 - 10:00 amI was shopping for a mini van and end up with a big van I compare prices and could not belived that I was getting more of a van for less money. I compare honda, mazda and toyota and with the option the EuroVan give you more for the price, the kids love it specialy when we go on a long trip.

Engine Oil Failure - 2001 Volkswagen Eurovan
By 2001 Eurovan - March 21 - 11:40 pmThe oil housings on these vans are made of plastic and are broken easily during oil changes. We lost all the oil and it ruined our engine. Each time we get oil changes we have to ensure the housing is not cracked. We asked Volkswagen to recall these vans but they refused. We absolutely hate the van because of this issue!
