Overview & Reviews
The 2010 Subaru Forester gets mild equipment changes. Last year's Premium package is now considered a trim level and additionally includes a standard power driver seat. The L.L. Bean Edition trim level is no more, though it was actually discontinued midway through last year. The optional navigation system now includes Bluetooth connectivity.
- Standard all-wheel drive, roomy cabin with ample cargo space, comfortable ride, capable engines, excellent safety scores.
- Outdated four-speed automatic transmission, so-so fit and finish.

2011 Forester are not representative of the Subaru name - 2010 Subaru Forester
By nornet - December 30 - 4:21 amI have had 3 Subarus. The plain old vanilla Legacy sedan was by far the best of the bunch (2008). The Outback Limited (2007) was pretty close behind. The Forester was one of the poorest vehicles I have drive. You can not sit in these seats for more than 2 hours. This problen goes back at least 10 years. My first encounter with a Forester (2000) was in the same quality seats. If you want to shuttle around the city than this can be overlooked but for any distance driving look elsewhere.

2.5X Limited - 2010 Subaru Forester
By Karla - October 28 - 11:13 amI have owned my 2010 Forester 2.5X Limited for almost a month now and so far I am extremely happy with it! The Forester handles great in the snowy ND weather and rides like a dream. I love the roomy interior for both front seat passengers as well as back seat passengers. I also added the following accessories: body side moldings, hood protector kit, moonroof deflector, splash guard kit, wheel moldings, luggage cover, trailer hitch, rear bumper cover, & wheel arch kit. Vehicle is sharp looking and versatile.

Drivers Seat bad for back or knee pain - 2010 Subaru Forester
By storiesbysteve - August 27 - 10:33 amDriven 1600+ miles. I like this car - but it can be very uncomfortable for a person with back or knee pain. I would like ARM RESTS and padding where a guys knees hit the left door and the console. Its rock hard A tilt steering wheel would be good. The moon roof is fantastic - and the drivers visibility is super. It is a pleasure to drive in the rain. Its not as smooth riding as I expected, but very surefooted. I might have been more comfortable in a Honda but the Subaru is faster (up to 130 mph!) As long as you dont need a comfortable drivers seat for your back or knee this is a GREAT car. I made a You Tube video about the seat problems and how to work around them

From an ex-Jeep owner - 2010 Subaru Forester
By Theresa - August 11 - 9:06 pmI am a business owner in CO. I drive city, highway, dirt roads and have to get through the snow. I LOVE my Forester. The winter package is a must. The Forester looks small on the outside but packs a punch on the inside. I have yet to max out the cargo space inside. Backseats fold flat and provide enormous space. Symmetrical AWD is amazing. I often see vehicles sliding and getting stuck, and I drive right by with no problem. As a previous Wrangler and Liberty owner, I was concerned about ground clearance, but it is not an issue. We have a cabin located at 12k ft. Only access is a steep, dirt road lined with trees and boulders. Taking the Forester up the road is no problem.

Mediocratic Platform - 2010 Subaru Forester
By Subesation - July 23 - 1:53 amFor a 2010 model SUV, this vehicle is lacking some basic features other vehicles in its class have. Comfortable driving position is one. The driver position is awkward with all the plastic parts sticking out reaking havoc on leg pain. Blue-tooth, the horrible sound system even with the circle sound on and the lack of auto on headlights. I enjoy the quality the subaru brand projects and thus far reliability is number 1. I have yet to get over 23 MPG even driving highway everyday. If your wanting to buy this vehicle its offroad ability is great, but the luxury interior is just not there! I dont have any rattling but considering the forester is mostly plastics I know its coming.

Best in Class - 2010 Subaru Forester
By Arby - April 30 - 2:23 pmI looked at all the usual suspects-- rav4, crv, etc. The Forester was the only one that made me feel like I wasnt riding in a tin can with no visibility. Exceptionally fun to drive (unlike the others). Would love to see a 5 speed on this, but thats ok. There is simply no better value for the money.

Improvement over Honda CR-V - 2010 Subaru Forester
By artman - April 17 - 9:03 pmBought this car two months ago and really like it. Excellent highway car with 25-28 MPG and 19 around town. The four speed transmission is below par and really needs a 5 speed. The radio sounds tinny but I hardly ever use it. I have no problems with rattles except noise from the back when I go over road bumps. I think this may be tied to the cheap cargo cover under the rear floor. I love the design of the vehicle and the interior. Way better than the cheap plastic used in many cars today.

General observations - 2010 Subaru Forester
By Bertram R. Eisner - January 26 - 10:00 amI am 84 years old and have been driving for 60 years. This Forester; 1. overall a plain car for $25,000 2. Bad gas cap place;near bottom of car 3. backing up is not smooth.Bad. 4. Heating and air poor. 5. Dashboard bare;cannot see clock or temperature because no contrast; poor colors used. 6. no light in glove box. 7. Cargo door is not well planned;clumsy to use. 8.Rear view mirrors block view; and not heated. Overall not a good choice. I made a mistake. There other short comings but no sense in going on.

Fun, roomy and comfortable - 2010 Subaru Forester
By Max - January 25 - 7:10 pmThis is my first Subaru after 16 years in a five-speed manual sport wagon. I find the Forester roomy with a comfortable ride and economical on the gas. The comfortable ride and tall body give somewhat more body roll and more flexible cornering than my old stiff-sprung wagon. Unlike the old wagon, the long-travel suspension handles whatever the road dishes out without crash-bang noise and discomfort, and the Subie is more stable in bumpy corners due to this. Im very satisfied with the 4-speed automatic which does its job smoothly and appreciate the simplicity and economy unlike some of the six- and seven-speed monsters of other brands that get no better mileage than my old Cherokee.
