This Year's Model Updates:

The 2010 Subaru Forester gets mild equipment changes. Last year's Premium package is now considered a trim level and additionally includes a standard power driver seat. The L.L. Bean Edition trim level is no more, though it was actually discontinued midway through last year. The optional navigation system now includes Bluetooth connectivity.

Pros:
  • Standard all-wheel drive, roomy cabin with ample cargo space, comfortable ride, capable engines, excellent safety scores.
Cons:
  • Outdated four-speed automatic transmission, so-so fit and finish.

  • Rattles - 2010 Subaru Forester

Rather "tinny". Presently have an 09 Impreza and 07 Legacy in household in addition to the 2010 Forester. The Forester is by far the poorest quality of the 3. Legacy is just a tank. Real nice to drive. Very tight! Great car! So is Impreza. It appears to us that the quality in workmanship exhibited in the Legacy is absent in the Forester. The rattles (door and ceiling in our case) are truly annoying. The dealer seems to be at a lost when trying to pinpoint the cause and is unaware of these complaints that appear to be quite common with this model and documented on numerous internet sites. When paying in the 30- 35 K range these are things that must not occur. Plan to trade in the next year

  • Zero buyers remorse. - 2010 Subaru Forester

I spent two years getting out of credit card debt, and saving up for my Subaru. I knew I wanted a Subaru because of the safety features, and high reliability. I looked at a few other brands. But I found that the Forester was not only the highest rated, but because more equipment comes standard, it was the best value. Some companies charge over $3K for AWD, and even $1K extra for side airbags! My 2010 model is very comfortable, the most comfortable car I have ever sat in. There is lots of room for both passengers and cargo. And the hidden storage area under the cargo pad is perfect for keeping the rest of the cargo ready at all times. Highly recommended to anyone who needs utility and fun!

  • Great package that needs just a bit more - 2010 Subaru Forester

I have had my Forester for 3 months now. I love it; didnt think I would as much as I do since I changed over from a BMW. It drives a lot like a sedan, and its sure-footed and reliable. The customer service has been great as well. The seats are comfortable and the road visibility is good. The rear seats are even more comfortable, and the giant moonroof is awesome. I also like the sports mode and the ability to manually shift gears - very useful for me and for saving on the brakes when going downhill. And the price? What a great value.

  • Good deal, but it really is noisy - 2010 Subaru Forester

I like the Forester -- it has everything we were looking for in terms of performance, room, and affordability and we have a much higher confidence in our familys safety with the AWD and high safety ratings. The glaring issue is the road and wind noise at 45 mph+. I dont think I picked up on it enough in the test drive. I feel like Im driving a giant penny whistle, or camping on Everest. I expect/hope to get used to it, but Subaru really needs to work on this issue.

  • The best small true SUV yet! - 2010 Subaru Forester
    By -

This totally redesigned 2010 Forester is much better than any of the other Subaru designs to date, and miles ahead of the older and dated designs of the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. The double wishbone suspension gives this Subie a supple quiet ride with superb controlled handling, even with over 8 inches of ground clearance. The outstanding outward vision and seating position is much better the competition. The high torque engine provides 2400 lb trailer pulling capacity which is much higher than most of the competition, and something I needed. Last, but not least, the safety features and crash tests scores are excellent for the 2010 Forester.

  • Drives like a car, roomy like an SUV - 2010 Subaru Forester

I would best describe the Forester as a "nice" automobile. It does everything well, but nothing outstanding (which is not a knock on it). It seats five, pulls a small trailer, can handle dirt roads and snow, usable large storage area, good visibility, good highway manners, etc. A very solid vehicle.

  • Tough to Beat for Value & Quality - 2010 Subaru Forester
    By -

This is our familys 3rd Subaru. Traded in a 2008 Forester that we loved for its ruggedness, reliability, AWD, and safety but needed more rear leg room as 2nd child is on the way. Got a steal of deal on the transaction and could not be happier with our new 2010 Forester. Its just the right size inside but still has a compact exterior that is easy to maneuver. The interior is well laid out and all body components are tightly built. Yes, we have a couple of rattles hear and there but nothing overly annoying. Be careful of the light grey interior (might get dirty fast). Overall, this is not a particularly luxurious vehicle but is still solid, safe, and very reliable. Cant beat it for value.

  • I want out! - 2010 Subaru Forester
    By -

Bought this car yesterday, has now 127 miles on it and it started rattling & vibrating already! The ceiling vibrates quite excessively at just 40 mph. The hatch rattles, along with the plastic back panels. Did not do it on the test drive, before purchase. I took it to the dealership today, they said might be the license plate cover- NOT! It keeps getting louder. I take it in again tomorrow. My Malibu with 120,600 miles on it was better, and I want it back! I want out of this deal, worst mistake I ever made. I wish I never wouldve bought it. Major buyers remorse.

  • Melange - 2010 Subaru Forester

After being a Subaru owner for the last several year, I may try something different next time around. I still love the way this thing drives, but subaru must stop being slow with bringing current technologies to the customers. Absolutley terrible stereo with no Bluetooth, dedicated I pod , etc......This is the Limited afterall! also sunvisor vanity mirrors with out illumination and no light in glove box!!Cmon! The 4 speed tranny was not a huge concern for me but it again shows Subarus unwillingness to be current. interior materials are not on par with most in the class. If Subaru wants to retain this up till now loyal customer, it must add some class to the fun!!!!

  • GREAT Vehicle!! - 2010 Subaru Forester

We went shopping for for a car for my girlfriend on Sept 5th...my birthday...great present for me - hehe.. Anyways, we were looking at the usual suspects, CRV, RAV4, X3 BMW, Escape, maybe the Edge, Equinox. Basically a small to mid sized SUV. She drove the Subaru and LOVED it, that combined with 2 past Subarus her parents had owned and her mom having a CRV (this was the front runner, but she had driven it A TON so knew what she liked and didnt.) She fell in love with the Subaru, just a great, practical, safe, fun car. GREAT JOB!! We worked a good deal and couldnt say no.
