Overview & Reviews
The 2007 Subaru Forester lineup includes two additional trim levels, the Sports 2.5 X and Sports 2.5 XT, which offer a hip styling motif inside and out. In other news, all Foresters except the base 2.5 X model get an upgraded CD player with MP3, WMA and CD-RW capability. It's also Sirius Satellite Radio-ready and has an auxiliary jack for connecting handheld MP3 players. Additionally, the base 2.5 X gains electronic brakeforce distribution, while the Forester XT Limited gets standard 17-inch wheels. The front door panels in all Subaru Foresters now have bottle holders, and the base engine now meets the PZEV standard in California and the Northeastern states. Lastly, the turbo engine has been re-rated for 224 horsepower.
- Class-leading crash test scores, standard all-wheel drive, rides and handles like a car, powerful turbo engine.
- Tight legroom in the backseat, too much road noise at highway speeds.

Road trips across USA - 2007 Subaru Forester
By colt - December 19 - 1:23 pmTook the 07 Forester on a X-country trip. Beginning in IN, traveled a total of 7,000 miles thru St Dak, Montana, ID, Wash, Ore, CA, and Nevada. From the snow in Montana to the desert in Death Valley the car was able to handle temperature extremes from 120 to 32 degrees! In Death Valley, the only problem experienced was a slight overheating and a need to turn the air conditioner off. Solved the problem, but made for a very warm journey through the valley!

Tired of squeeky brakes - 2007 Subaru Forester
By Greg - December 11 - 5:00 pmThis is our first Subaru and we have enjoyed the car so far. The car sticks to the road in rainy conditions, just as other Subaru owners told us. This is a definite plus. We are currently getting 29 mpg on the highway. We have a self imposed speed limit of 62-63 on interstate. which is why the mpg increased from 26 at 70-75 mph on trips. The major problem we have is with the rear drum brakes. They have squeeked for many months. The dealer states that this is an ongoing problem with the Forester, and Subaru has not found a remedy. We are thinking of trading up to one with disk brakes. I recommend to everyone thinking of buying a Forester. Add rear disk brakes to your requirement.

Looking for the Ultimate Sleeper?? Gramps approved - 2007 Subaru Forester
By Chris Hodges - September 16 - 9:32 pmFirst of all, I need to begin this review with a bit of a reality check- in 07, only 87 of these vehicles in my color of Metallic Grey, with a 5 speed AND the Towing Package (1 1/4 trailer hitch with 4.41:1 axles), so, if you THINK you may have found one of these beauties?? DOUBLE CHECK. Now that we have that out of the way, lets continue. As with any other car, what Ive found with Maintenance and the inevitable Tuning- find reputable shops who KNOW WHAT THEYRE DOING!! I found a Shop I thought was reputable, only to find, THOUSANDS of dollars later, that this shop was staffed by a bunch of hacks!! Pros: with the appropriate plug in Cobb tuner, will make GOBS of torque, with little or no change in mileage! With a dyno tune, turns this vehicle into a TOTALLY different driving experience!! No problems with head gaskets or major repairs. This car has been driven hard, but, with regular fluid changes, timing belt changes, etc., runs like a champ! Negatives: THE SEATS ARE ABYSSMAL!!! Omg...if you can find older leather WRX seats, PUT them in...your back will thank you! Invest in Grimmspeeds Master cylinder brace!! Why? Again, this is a part right off a Forester...the Base model...so, the brakes arent the greatest. The steering could best be described as numb...but, not to worry! 2004 STi power steering pump bolts right in, and, does WONDERS for steering feel. And, if youre looking at ANYTHING approaching decent handling, ditch the stock springs for Swifts. The first car Ive EVER owned as a gearhead where I can honestly say Im NEVER going to sell it...its been THAT good to me! Oh, and, do yourself a favor and spend that money for decent snowtires to put on your factory steelies- my Blizzaks turned this little SUV into a goanywhere vehicle, even in feet of snow here in Massachusetts!

great little suv - 2007 Subaru Forester
By Andy Swanson - June 21 - 2:00 amIf you are looking for a practical, dependable, and overall fun car to drive the Forester is it. I wouldnt trade this car for a large SUV, because it does everything and more that the competition can, (and you wont go broke in the process). The premium package is worth the extra money. Im glad I upgraded, the MP3 jack is great, and so is the climate control and heated seats.

2007 Forester Subaru--- LL Bean - 2007 Subaru Forester
By Bill - May 15 - 3:03 pmBig fan of Subaru for over 20 years. This is the best vehicle Ive ever owned. Living in Maine was quite the experience with the harsh winters. It would be 60 below zero in January and my Subaru would start every time. Also, excellent traction and control in the snow.

Fun to Drive - 2007 Subaru Forester
By Joe - May 2 - 12:53 pmThis is my first Subaru. While I am generally very pleased, I have had the car back in shop 4 times in six months to correct defective center blower vents. That problem aside, it has been a great car.

First Subaru - 2007 Subaru Forester
By Hershey - April 2 - 4:23 pmThis is my first Subaru and the AWD is excellent. After spending a good bit of time in the car you begin to realize that they are cheaply outfitted. The carpet is the skimpiest I have seen used in a car, the center console armrest is not well constructed and most of the storage is so small that it is only useful for storing gas receipts. The engine is a plus as the performance is good for a 4 cyl and the automatic transmission shifts well. The car performs well on snow covered roads and give a vey secure feeling under most driving conditions. The MPG is fair at 22 around town and a little over 25 on the highway. The only problem so far is a loose speaker in the right front door.

Forester Sport XT - Manual - 2007 Subaru Forester
By Gordon S - March 29 - 9:40 pmLooking for a small wagon with a ton-of-fun factor, then this is for you! Mine has a short-throw shifter, turbo gauge (visual toy) and heated leather seats (to warm ones hide on those chilly Minnesota Winters mornings). Our car delivered us to Colorado skiing, pheasant hunting in SD and canoeing in the BWCA, while allowing us to enjoy the scenery through the panoramic moon roof. The Forester Sport handles all tasks with ease, and the AWD triumphs over any treacherous weather condition encountered. It readily tows (2.4K lbs) with the trailer pkg, allowing us to haul our gear to the cabin and back with a minimum of fuss/muss. I cant say enough good about this car, it does what I need it to do

STAY AWAY!! BUYER BEWARE!! - 2007 Subaru Forester
By Kristina - October 25 - 11:13 pmMy husband and I bought a gorgeous 2007 Subaru Forester that was red with a beige interior and had awesome reviews. The right price and a good looking car to boot! Well, shortly after buying it, everything that could go wrong did. It had the transmission go out, the catalytic converter, you name it it happened. It fell apart so badly that we couldnt even sell it for a good price. We had to sell it to a mechanic as a "shell", as in car body but not working, for a whopping $1,400. And we maintained the heck out of it with a reputable mechanic! You would think if you stayed on top of the maintenance it would be okay; well, not with this car! We spent about $8,000 buying it and then we spent about $5,000 repairing it. And then, a ton of other things went out and the cost to fix it is over 9,000! Ridiculous! I was still attached to the car because of its looks and thought I had myself a lemon the first time. I found one in mint condition, that looked just like the first one I had and thought about buying it. Then I read that they had fixed everything that I had! Plus some! The engine had been replaced! Red flag! I had to replace mine, too, and it only had 130,000 miles! Stay away! Find yourself another car! Dont be suckered in by its looks, it will make you sorry and broke!
