Overview & Reviews
Most of the Nissan Xterra's previously optional features are now standard equipment for 2010.
- Serious off-road prowess, powerful V6, innovative cargo features, most livable truck in its class.
- Unimpressive interior materials, mushy brake pedal.

Great durability - light on design - 2010 Nissan Xterra
By Ensign - September 28 - 8:16 amI have been buying Nissans since 1981 mostly for their engines. Generally they tend to be superior on durability but light on comfort and convenience. My Xterra is the first SUV I have owned. I bought the X model because I wanted a manual transmission but did not want to buy the more expensive off road. As usual the engine and transmission are excellent but poor design on comfort and convenience. I could not believe there is no side mirror control and no map light. No mirror or light in the visor. The storage compartments are poorly designed. These little things are not expensive but are very much appreciated by consumers. Nissan designers - get a clue!

Great Vehicle - 2010 Nissan Xterra
By ShadowFox - September 27 - 9:03 amThis vehicle is amazing. Since I purchased the Off Road version, I figured I was going to compromise ride quality and overall comfort. Nothing could be further from the truth. The ride quality is surprisingly comfortable, the seats sit well, and the Rockford Fosgate system kicks. The utility features of the vehicle are some of the best in the market. Ive even done a little of my own testing off road. This thing is amazing in the dirt and rocks. The 4LO and locking rear differential are easy to use and get you out of just about anything. Engine performance is impressive for an SUV. The V6 is plenty powerful, quiet and buttery smooth. I cant say enough good things about this vehicle.

A traditional truck based SUV - 2010 Nissan Xterra
By gman - September 25 - 7:20 amHad this traditional truck based SUV for the past 2.5 months and have been impressed by its all weather and cargo hauling capabilities. Two snow storms in February and two rain storms in March provided a great opportunity to test the 4WD system and ground clearance. 1.5 feet of snow was not a problem. Test drove Ford Explorer, Toyota 4Runner and FJ Cruiser before buying the Xterra on price and amenities. Good size vehicle for maneuvering in urban streets and traffic. Gas mileage is comparable to other truck based SUVs in class.

Best Ride Yet From Nissan - 2010 Nissan Xterra
By JTCKC - June 30 - 6:10 amThis is my second Nissan Xterra. I went in to the dealership for my regular maintenance and decided to trade up. Leather, GPS, xm radio, 4.0 v6 17" wheels with rims. Man this is a fantastic upgrade. I loved my 2007 Xterra, but they bought it for more than I owed and got me in a new one for a better payment. Ill never drive anything else. I love everything about it. Youd be crazy to pass one up. I never had 1 issue with my 2007 and this one outshines the 2007 by far. I look forward to driving this for a long time to come!!

Solid Versatile Truck for a Good Price - 2010 Nissan Xterra
By dallas70 - June 30 - 5:23 amBought new 4yrs / 42k miles ago and Im more impressed than ever. Rock solid performance and reliability so far. Id say it provides more capability and livability for the price than just about any other 4x4 SUV. I paid $23,800 after rebates and I think the only area of the Xterra that reflects the bargain price is some of the interior parts (seat material, hard plastics, cargo area plastic not as tough as Id like). Weve made many family trips and commutes with this SUV in all conditions and the only thing I would do differently is go for the nicer PRO4X model.

avoid nissan! - 2010 Nissan Xterra
By bob508 - May 29 - 8:56 pmim a older woman with a disability, yet they sold me this lemon without disclosing it has a major defect. the cooling line from the transmission into the radiator ruptures and fills the trans with water. did not happen yet, but nissan acted incredulous when asked to remedy the defect. the last straw was when the dealer went to fix a flat on the xterra, and let me drive it for several days with 70 pounds of air in the tire. the dealer and nissan have not only caused a financial hardship for me, now theyve risked life and limb as they continue to ignore my complaint.

Great off road vehicle - 2010 Nissan Xterra
By jp - April 22 - 2:43 pmGreat SUV. This Suv can handle any conditions. I love driving in the snow and the stability control is great. The ride is great in town and off road. Its a bit bumpy on the highway but accelerates great when passing. The arm rests are very poorly placed and you really have no where to put your arms. My gas mileage is horrible but the dealer says the engine is still breaking in. If anyone else has an off road, please tell me it actually gets 15mpg when it breaks in? I am getting like 13mpg city/highway right now. I am not sure if they tested the off road package accurately with the bigger tires? I wish they would do away with the plastic cargo area. It scratches and is worthless.

I got a good deal on a 2010 OFF ROAD - 2010 Nissan Xterra
By Hardy - February 22 - 6:16 pmA week or so back I feel that I got a good deal on a OFF ROAD package. I got them down to $23,600. Out the door was about 27,700. Im 64 and I find the Xterra comfortable. I have not had the chance to take it off road yet but cant wait to. One of the selling points was the rear locking diffand the offroad lights. Its nice to see that comes stock for the offroad package. Also my wife loves the Bluetooth, portable Garmin navigation system and the Rockford Fosgate stereo. Buy one if you can find one at a good price

From Old to New - 2010 Nissan Xterra
By hirosfca - December 3 - 1:20 pmUpgraded from my 2002 Xterra 4x2 to the 4x4 Off Road package. I actually use this vehicle for the road trips, on and off road. Sometimes, I would venture onto a path or pseudo-road that turned off road and regret that I only had a 4x2 so this new addition of the total off road capability is very nice. Now I wont be worried about getting stuck or stopping our adventure short due to the vehicles off road capability. I love the sparse easy to clean interior and the tough chunky looks. I have the 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and that is a great piece of mind to know that Nissan will back up the reliability of the vehicles they make.
