  • No fun to drive, but seems tough enough. - 2003 Mazda Truck

Decent ride, uncomfortable seating if you are over 62", Crummy Mileage (17 HWY), Plenty of power from the 4.0L but shaky idle, 88 MPH speed limiter (dyno proven) (Mazda will only acknowledge this AFTER you buy the truck), 3,000lb max trailer weight with the 4.0L and 5 speed (read: weak clutch), A/C clutch engagement feels like youve been rear ended, Good cruise control, Gas guage is horribly inaccurate...

Looks nice, runs great. Comfy ride; definitely "trucky," but not bouncy or harsh. Good legroom for tall people. Handles nicely in any situation. Good winter driving. Love the power of the 4- liter V6. Ive towed pretty close to 3000 pounds up the Columbia Gorge, and it shows no signs of strain; spooling up from 50 to 75 passing a slow semi uphill? No problem, not even with a fully loaded trailer.

  • Best in class! - 2003 Mazda Truck

Better options/trim/dealer better than Ford. The Frontier is cheesy while the Tacoma & S10 are getting really old. The B2300/5 speed will leave the B3000/auto in the dust. It cruises at 80 up mountain passes easily. Great mileage--about 25 city/30 hwy. The B2300 is a bargain. Its quiet & comfortable, the interior is similar to a $30k Explorer and it pulls strongly to nearly 6000rpm yet loafs along at about 3000rpm at 80mph. ItÂ’s a great light duty truck! The guy complaining about the A/C must not have driven many 4 cylinders with A/C or something is wrong with his. You can tell when the AC cycles but its not obvious.

  • First impressions - 2003 Mazda Truck

Bought this truck on New Years Day. First new car and all I could get approved for ($8900). Dealership service was below average. As for the truck, it is as bare bones as you can get. I highly recommend you pass up on this unless you are in bad financial shape. The truck is too small and underpowered for any serious utility usage.

Bought it for the gas mileage, got what I expected. Not much on power, drives and rides smooth. Not had any mechanical problems so far.

  • Dont buy it! - 2003 Mazda Truck

This is the second Mazda pickup that I bought. It will be the last! A good friend of mine sells these trucks. If not for the good deal, Id be worse off. These trucks DO NOT HOLD THEIR VALUE. Stay away. You wont even be able to trade them in. Not great on gas and has poor performance. Also, it is the worst vehicle that Ive ever driven on wet or snowy roads. I never thought Id say it, but if you want a small truck, buy a Ford or Chevy. They actually hold their value better. I paid $16,000.00 for a 2003 and was offered $5,000.00 on a trade from the dealer that I bought it from. And, my truck is clean. Never again!

I bought this truck new in AZ, no trouble with a/c, cold even at +117 degrees! Its a stick: could use more zip doing mountains, fine if you dont get stuck behind a slow truck and have to accelerate from 30 mph on 6000ft grade. Moved to Indiana, heater warms quickly, far less traction problems than full size van I drove. Not one mechanical problem, piled it high for move, over 2500 miles, very stable in winds, rain; good fuel economy with the extreme gas prices. Very nice turning ratio, good visibility overall.

First the cons; small for those over 6, fuel economy is lacking for a small v6, DS should come standard with a limited slip and tow package, should have 6spd manual (mileage and towing would benefit), horrible Goodyear Wrangler GT/Ss that come on it, a more Mazda/less Ford interior would be nice, seats are too firm for long trips(pad fixes this) . Now PROS; RELIABILITY, RELIABILITY, RELIABILITY, did I mention its been reliable? Only issue in 78,xxx + was a sensor @ 5k that was replaced under warranty with no qualms. Paint still looks new, front brakes lasted for 50k, clutch is still great, engine still peppy (although more power would be great). Great deal considering cost vs other ops.

  • Just simply a great little truck! - 2003 Mazda Truck

I have had my B4000 for a year now and I cant say enough good things about it. After I did a few things such as performance exhaust, K&N filter, raised the torsion bars, tinted front windows, and a Tornado (not sure about that one...but hey, why not give it a try...), the truck runs and looks great! From road trips to 4-Wheeling in Moab, this thing does it all. I am finally getting about 18 MPG HWY which I think is acceptable...but still not great. Plus, I had to put all that junk in to get it....but the power is there so I cant complain! Definitely a solid alternative to anything out there!

  • Good to go! - 2003 Mazda Truck

Good power if you rev it. Electronically limited to 90 mph (3500 rpm). Great mileage (24-30 thus far), tows adequately for 4 cyl. Decent stereo, good ABS. Got it for $12,300 (tax included) w/SE-5 package, bedliner, CD,
