Trac Lover - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By dizazter - November 22 - 6:30 pmIve been searching for a 4x4 for the last month, and kept coming back to the Sport Trac. I got a great deal on this 05 with tons of features that will more than meet my needs. Will be great for work and personal travel and elegant enough for a night out on the town.

Why did Ford build this? - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By fmrdlrauto - September 29 - 9:24 amIt is Nov 2012 as I type this. Altho this pkp has less than 12,000 mi it has had to have ALL 4 brakes & 2 rotors replaced due to early failure. Not much room for a 61 guy like me. Pkp is underpowered and avgs 17 mpg city/hwy cmbind. Short bed is nxt to worthless. You cannot unlock doors with keypad on door, only with keyfob! Late fathers trk. Drove many pkps over the years. This is the worst. Had so much trouble with my 99 Sable and this 2005 Pkp, I am now a proud 2010 Honda Van owner. No wonder FORD dropped this model. Choppy ride, & controls are in weird places. Id have been ashamed to sell this trk to my customers. Give me an old F150 4x4, 8ft. bed!

Adrenalin all the way - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By mj2say - October 10 - 12:46 pmA plush SUV up front and a lockable, watertight, pick-up bed out back. Nice ride, smooth 5 speed transmission and good power. Very comfortable seats, with leather, power and heat. Excellent ventilation with the sunroof and power back-glass window. The sound system is one of the best around, and worth the $.

Dream Car or truck it has it all - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By Teri - September 15 - 12:16 pmHas good acceleration, comfortable to ride in, easy to handle. The side rails are a must have if youre going to use it as a family car. I thought the moonroof was just an extra expense - boy was I wrong. Its great for evening drives. If you open the moonroof on the open road, you need to open the rear windows a little to cut the roar; if you dont the interior is very noisy.

Reliable and Utilitarian - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By Rick Smith - August 13 - 12:03 amThis is the second Sport Trac I have owned. The first proved to be so very useful that my wife and I had to buy another. I like all of the features and it rides very nicely. I dont need a "real truck" and we need a vehicle with a back seat.

Good Truck/Car - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By William - July 20 - 12:00 amActually went into the Ford dealership to look at the new Mustang and drove home a Sport Trac. Handles very good, rides comfortably, good sound system and functions well in 4 wheel drive. The truck bed is just big enough to handle daily needs and with the cover offers a secure "large trunk". So far I have enjoyed this vehicle a lot.

So Far So Good - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By coach - April 23 - 3:30 pmThe truck is a great family vehicle. Comfortable for the commute and great for light home owner hauling. 4WD works well and pulls great. The only complaints are the poor location for the seat warmers and the squeaky drivers seat. The seat warmer needs to be moved to the dash area where you will not bump it while getting in. The drivers seat squeaks and was told by Ford, "Dont know why." Other than that it is a great car. I can not complain about the fuel, because I know it is a truck. Looking forward to the 8 cylinder.

25+ years in auto buisness - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By wyomack - March 9 - 8:16 pmI have bought three of these, based off the old Ranger platform they have been very reliable and sturdy, after putting Michelin tires on they get better mileage and ride tremendously better. The rear seating arangement is better than all the other 4dr pickup suts, comfortable for 4 people with thier junk as well, always stable and very well mannered on the road. It is not a sports car or hot rod--buy a Lightning or a 2008 v-8 Sport Trac, gets good mileage. Always over 20 hwy and very capable even 2wd in snow and ice, also is a flex fuel vehicle and easy to maintain for the owner. Best SUV buy out there

Great Buy - 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By dfe109 - January 15 - 3:06 pmI had owned a 91 Explorer and enjoyed it for 11 years. So I thought I would give the SportTrac a try. I like the dual use concept vehicle. The room and ride are great. I got the the XLT 2WD with tonneau cover. With the dealers discount and Ford rebate I purchased mine for $18,990 plus tax and title! All the options you need, cruise, air, auto, radio/CD, OLW wheels, roll down rear window. What a price! A good $4K less than nearest comparable vehicle.
