This Year's Model Updates:

The Silverado gets a makeover this year that includes a new front fascia and revised side moldings and taillights. Top-of-the-line models get power-folding heated mirrors with puddle lamps and turn signal indicators. On the inside, the Silverado is the first full-size pickup to offer a Bose stereo system and XM Satellite Radio. The instrument panel and center console have been redesigned, and Chevrolet has added new seats, a more comprehensive driver information center and a dual-zone climate control system. For increased safety, Silverados now feature a standard front-passenger-sensing system and dual-stage airbags. On the hardware side, all 4.3-liter V6-equipped Silverados and California-emission V8s are now ULEV-certified, while electronic throttle control is now standard on all V8 engines. The Autotrac four-wheel-drive system has been modified for less intrusiveness at low speeds, and the brake system received upgrades that provide better pedal feel and improved overall performance.

Pros:
  • Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

The power in the new Silverados is what made me pick it above the competition. The new look is great too. It rides quite comfortably and handles very well for a full-size pickup. With the biggest tires available stock from Chevy, the lowest point to the ground besides the tire is approximately 9.5 inches off the ground which is exceptional ground clearance for a stock truck. With what I do to pickups, i need the kind of off-road performance that the Z71 off-road package delivers. This is a good truck.

I originally bought a 2wd with the V6 and then traded it in for a 4x4 4dr ext cab 5.3 It has an endless supply of power and feels more like a hotrod than a truck. It is the quietest of the the big three that I tested. I bought from Rob Milliken at Courtesy Chevrolet in Poulsbo, Washington. If your looking for star treatment and rock bottom prices, this is where you need to go.

  • Best truck I ever owned - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This truck is, by far, superior to any other truck in its class when it comes to driving comfort and in-cab options. The quadrasteer option is unbelievable, and I use it every single day. Just feel that is was marketed to the wrong crowd (1500 chasis) All in all my next truck will again, without a doubt, be a Chevy except this time Im steppin up to a crew cab diesel! But Im sure gonna miss the quadrasteer!

I was skeptical about getting a truck, but after driving this one I would recommend it to anyone. The ride is smooth and the gas mileage is way better than that listed on the sticker. The resale value is also excellent.

Love this truck. It gives the feel and capability of a truck but the look of a high performance vehicle so head turning is always happening. Its a good professional looking business vehicle that you can throw your Harley in as well. Always getting compliments!

This truck is awesome! I didnt really like the new front-end at first, but on a Z71 with the black fender flares it looks good. It gets great mileage for what it is, Ive got the 4.10 gears in it and I get 18mpg, 70% highway 30% city. The power is amazing! It tows like a freight train. The ride is good thanks to the electronically adjustable shocks, Im glad I ordered them. I have Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs on it and this thing will go wherever I point it. Snow is a laughing matter, even for a snow novice like myself.

  • Great Choice in Trucks - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I wanted a full size truck in 2WD that was good on gas and served me well everyday. This has been it. With over 120,000 miles it has given me zero trouble. Passengers comment frequently on its roomy and comfortable interior - even in the back seat; probably the best bench in the industry. With an average of 18mpg, its no eco-car, but compared to its 4WD bretheren, its awesome. That goes for 4WD mid-size trucks too (at 16mpg). Good looks, solid build, dependable - what more do you want?

This is our first truck. We shopped around for a year, and checked out every brand. We knew what we wanted, but no one seemed to have it on their lot. We ordered it and it was built just for my wife. We got the 4.8L V8, with manual transmission, and the 4x4 Z71 package. It is the truck of our dreams, and weve had no problems except the stereo overheating from time to time.

  • Clunks and Knocks - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The tranmission clunks and the engine knocks but hey GM says thats normal. Im joining the class action lawsuit against GM for building these pieces of junk and then screwing their customers by telling us "its normal" and refusing to remedy the problems. They must think we all are a bunch of morons. Cherolet: "Like a Knock" "See the USA in your Clukrolet".
