This Year's Model Updates:

The S60 gets a revised front fascia this year with new headlamps, grille and bumper. Color-keyed side moldings, lower rocker sills and bumpers are also new, along with LED taillamps. Other changes include new flat-blade windshield wipers, revised front seats, a new center console and an improved audio system. A trip computer is newly standard, and real wood replaces the fake stuff in the Premium Package. The Sport Package gets a new wheel design, and run-flat tires are a new option. The headlamp washers have been redesigned, and the interior air quality sensor is now a stand-alone option. The 2.5T gets new wheels and available rear park assist. A wood steering wheel is also available. The Four-C chassis from the S60R is now optional on all S60s. The T5 gets a bump in horsepower, up to 257, as well as larger disc brakes and new seat fabric. The T5 also receives speed-sensitive steering and a sport suspension as standard. Black mesh inlays replace the aluminum pieces in the Premium Package, except with the graphite interior color.

Pros:
  • Superb front-seat comfort, wide variety of safety and luxury features, balanced ride and handling characteristics, available all-wheel drive.

  • Volvo, not for old geezers anymore... - 2005 Volvo S60
    By -

My wife and I had considered Volvos several times over the years and I finally got tired of the lousy mileage in my truck and traded it in on a Black Sapphire, S60 2.5T with sport package, gorgeous beige leather interior and premium package (including cool wood steering wheel). I thought I would miss my truck but this car is such a pleasure to drive that I havent. Nicely refined, good acceleration and surprisingly good fuel economy. Theres a little too much body lean and the turning radius is a bit wide but other than that, I am extremely pleased. A GREAT alternative to the 3 series BMW, which are a dime a dozen in south Florida. I get lots of looks and compliments. Highly recommended!

  • Great Purchase - 2005 Volvo S60

I just got this car a few days ago and absolutely love it. Its a lot of fun to drive and feels much heavier than my 01 Honda Civic (which I also liked as well) on the road. Great transmission and excellent power. Jurys still out on gas mileage , but for the smooth ride, its worth it! Also very pleased with all of the safety features. Hope to have the car for a long time to come!

  • AWD - 2005 Volvo S60

Purchased the S60 in 2008 since it was one of the few sedans offering AWD which I need in the winter. I loved this car since my first drive and almost 2 years later, still am extremely happy. May be the best vehicle I have owned and Im 65 years old. I would seriously consider purchasing another S60 again. I received excellent service from the dealership. It came with an expended 100k miles, 6 yr warranty which has already paid dividends

  • Birthday gift - 2005 Volvo S60

My husband bought me the Volvo S 60 for my birthday. It looks incredible and is the most fun to drive. The interior is plush and it handles like a dream. I couldnt be happier.

  • The R-evolution! - 2005 Volvo S60

After looking at the Audi A4, Bmw 3 series and Saab 9-5 I decided to go with the Volvo S60R and man was I right! This car handles like a dream, has great power off the line and the seats are unbelievable. My relatives all own Audis & BMWs and were extremely impressed when I let them test drive my "R". I had the car ordered from Sweden and it only took 4 weeks to be delivered. I recommend purchasing the "sport body kit" as it lowers the ground clearence for less wind resistance and also for a real sporty look. Ive only owned the car 1 month and had 10 people comment on the style. Whats best is many other European cars will not know what this car can do so let them try, then gas it!

  • Stylish and Safe - 2005 Volvo S60

I have been longing for the S60 ever since it first came out. I jumped the gun and bought the S40 in 2000, and was not too happy with it. I did not stray from the Volvo family, in 2004 I traded in the S40 for the S60. So far I could not be happier. The look and style of the car is sporty yet classy. I do not have the turbo, yet it had definitely got a lot of pep to it. Not so quick out of the gate, but on highway, really nice ride. I am a fan and would reco. this car to others. Now, I have my eyes on the S80...the plan is to keep upgrading!

  • Tire Problems - 2005 Volvo S60
    By -

I purchased my 05 R certified with 25k miles and loved it until I had to replace all four high performance summer tires (it was covered by certification) then again 2k miles later (not covered by certification). Ugh! So buyer beware the sensitivity of the front suspension and tire wear. Other than that this is a great car - under the radar and superfast. Great performance with volvo safety - if only it was more reliable.

  • Fun in Sweden - 2005 Volvo S60

picked car up at the factory, drove in Sweden and Norway 850 miles in two weeks, fun car, easy to drive, built for the open road.

  • Great bang for the buck - 2005 Volvo S60
    By -

I compared the Volvo s60r to similar models from Audi, Saab, and BMW. The volvo provided more performance, luxry, and features for less! This car is extremely fun to drive and handles very well. There are not many of these cars on the road, heads turn when they see this Volvo coming... As far as annoyances, the glove box is of poor design and rattles, the dealerships offer no help. It is an admitted problem with the s60 series. As with most performance cars, it REQUIRES the 91 octane fuel, so be ware of that... The car now has about 4k miles on it, tire are already not gripping as well as they did the first day. Of course, I corner sharply at every opportunity!! Love the car...

  • Fun Car - 2005 Volvo S60

The car is extremely fun to drive. It has the most comfortable seats that Ive ridden in. Ive had a couple of little problems but nothing keeping me from recommending this car. The back seat is a little tight.
