This Year's Model Updates:

The S60 gets a revised front fascia this year with new headlamps, grille and bumper. Color-keyed side moldings, lower rocker sills and bumpers are also new, along with LED taillamps. Other changes include new flat-blade windshield wipers, revised front seats, a new center console and an improved audio system. A trip computer is newly standard, and real wood replaces the fake stuff in the Premium Package. The Sport Package gets a new wheel design, and run-flat tires are a new option. The headlamp washers have been redesigned, and the interior air quality sensor is now a stand-alone option. The 2.5T gets new wheels and available rear park assist. A wood steering wheel is also available. The Four-C chassis from the S60R is now optional on all S60s. The T5 gets a bump in horsepower, up to 257, as well as larger disc brakes and new seat fabric. The T5 also receives speed-sensitive steering and a sport suspension as standard. Black mesh inlays replace the aluminum pieces in the Premium Package, except with the graphite interior color.

Pros:
  • Superb front-seat comfort, wide variety of safety and luxury features, balanced ride and handling characteristics, available all-wheel drive.

After test driving the Mercedes Benz C230 Kompressor and the BMW 325i I was reluctant to test drive the Volvo S60. The exterior styling is on the conservative side but is very attractive to the eye with better fit and finish than its German Counterparts. With the premium package the interior definitely impresses though it does lack the small details of the Mercedes. That being said the safety features make you forget about the gizmos of the German cars. During the test drive I was impressed with the 2.5 L Turbo and the vehicles handling. So much that my wife said I was grinning ear-to-ear the whole time. I dont know what the Editors are talking about but this car is a blast to drive!

Ive had my Volvo for six months now and I enjoy every minute that I have driven. Its comfortable and very classy looking. It performs surprising well for a 5 cylinder auto. I got about 28 mpg on a trip from L.A. area to Phoenix area. It was a little more than I wanted to spend but I think its worth it. Also the navigation system is great.

We are very happy with the non turbo S60 California version Volvo. Sport seats, 17" tires, 5 sp auto, etc. Looks good, runs good, quick on take off, fits my 65" frame, built like a tank, good decision, and it is owned by Ford so we dont feel bad sending jobs off shore.

I just bought my volvo. I LOVE IT!!! The only problem I have is control. It gets a bit squirrely when you put the pedal to the metal.

A blast to drive--can handle sharp turns at high speeds, great acceleration at all speeds and very comfortable seats. Turns heads as well, people comment on it to me all the time and are shocked that its a Volvo. (got the Sports package with the wheels, rims and spoilers) Test drove the Audi S4, new Lexus GS300 and BMW 5 series before deciding on the S60R. Others were great cars, but the S60Rs combo of performance, looks, price and uniqueness won me over. Great car!

Having already been impressed for over three years with my S60 2.5T, I welcomed the opportunity to test drive the S60R. This was following test drives of comparable BMW, Mercedes and Cadillac models. Safety and the comfort for a 6 foot plus adult being a given, the power and handling of the "R" exceeded even my expectations. I have not had this much fun since my Corvette. The car hangs tough with my friends Porsches and MBs on our monthly country outings into the backroads of Wisconsin.

I have just bought my car and I greatly enjoy the feel of the car. I greatly enjoy the trust I have in my car and I experience an exuberance not felt with previous cars that I owned. The volvo is fantastic!

  • Love this car - 2005 Volvo S60

I love this car. It is fun to drive. It is a comfortable, good looking car. The inside is a little small but I really like the looks (inside and out), the performance, and reliability. The interior wood grain is really nice. I would buy this car again and out of all the cars that I have owned, this is the only car I can say that about.

  • Nice mix of sport and luxury - 2005 Volvo S60
    By -

I bought the 2.5T and splurged for the sport, luxury and comfort packages to get the 17" wheels and leather as well as other feature. The car looks great (metallic black and tan leather with wood appointments) accelerates quite well and is extremely comfortable for longer commutes. I was looking at the Infiniti G35, but I was able to negotiate a much better deal at Volvo and was surprised that the Volvo was only marginally slower with better looks and comfort. I was surprised to learn that you can use regular unleaded in the S60. The only sour point is the turning circle is on the poor side, especially noticeable when parking. Overall I love this car.
