Overview & Reviews
The big news is the arrival of the S60 2.4T AWD and its slick electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system. Additionally, all S60 models get Emergency Brake Assistance (EBA), enhanced traction control performance and improved throttle management, resulting in quicker response in everyday driving situations. Volvo's Dynamic Stability Traction Control (DSTC) system is now standard in T5 models and optional for the 2.4T AWD (starting in December 2001). Other model-specific changes include satellite controls on the steering wheel and rear cupholders for the base 2.4 model and a memory function for the power seats and mirrors in 2.4T and T5 models. The entire lineup gets revised rear headrests, ISO-FIX child restraint attachment points and an emergency trunk release handle.
- Long list of standard safety features, luxurious interior, powerful turbocharged engine in top-line T5 model, deceptively quick 2.4T powerplant, available all-wheel drive.
- Handling lacks true sport-sedan precision, expensive optional equipment, torque steer in the T5 model.

Great Car - 2002 Volvo S60
By bkrueger - July 12 - 4:26 pmVolvo is a great automobile company. If you are considering an A4, C-Class, IS300, 3-Series, it is another great alternative. Good performance, turbo is a lot of fun on the highway. Gas mileage is usually aroung 25 city 30- 33 highway (Depends how you drive). Interior is small in the back but i dont care because im the driver and it is awesome in the front. Interior is also very nicely appointed. Sound system rocks. Good car all around i have an ECU upgrade so that makes the car even more fun to drive.

A Perfect Ten - 2002 Volvo S60
By jackpeace - May 15 - 3:26 amThis is our second Volvo. It is the best car for the money in this segment. Our prior Volvo, the V-70, had not a single problem in the 39 months we leased it. The main reason I am penning this review is that the first review here is positively glowing. But the writer gives the car a "5." He/she surely knows his/her cars, but not his/her math. A super review means the car should get at least an eight. So read the prior review, average it with my "10," and then go get the car!

9 mos retrospective - 2002 Volvo S60
By mikepghpa - May 14 - 10:00 amThis car is fun to drive, no doubt. It handles curves very well at good speed and the braking capacity is outstanding. It is very comfortable with probably the best leather seats in this class. Trunk room is surprising since it is square without tapering to more narrow dimensions. Fuel capacity is remarkable since the tank holds 21 gallons. At 9 mos, reliability is excellent. Only problem Ive experienced is a back seat squeak.

Looking for excuses to drive S-60 - 2002 Volvo S60
By whitney - February 17 - 10:00 amThis is truely an enjoyable driving experience. I considered the BMW, Acura and Infinity and went with the Volvo. The exterior design sold me. I have no regrets. The lease on this car was outstanding (0 interest). It is cheaper to lease and then buy at the end of the lease term.

High performance, style, and safety - 2002 Volvo S60
By lxl - December 29 - 6:30 amResearched and drove everything for 6 months. Able to buy 2001 S60 T5 in late December 2001 at great price. Love it. Great power, performance, comfort and style. First non-japanese car, but now a big volvo fan. Only 3000 miles now, but no problems. Feel very safe in this car.

S60 AWD - 2002 Volvo S60
By J L - September 8 - 10:00 amI bought my S60AWD 7 months ago with 10000 on it Ive put 8000 miles on it so far, and it has been perfect. I lowered it and it transformed the car into a handling fool. The ride is as good or better than before and it handles like a slot car. Comfortable, roomy in front. No complaints whatsoever. Could have a better (standard) stereo and speakers. I wish it had the optional Volvo radio as that is a wonderful piece J L

Awful in Snow - 2002 Volvo S60
By BarbB - July 12 - 8:40 pmI like the look and the comfort of the Volvo - love the leather heated seats - but it handles terribly in snow. I am petrified to drive it in winter - have slid through intersections, need to crawl on the highway, etc. I bought the AWD thinking it would be good in poor road conditions but quite the opposite is true. I needed a car quickly to replace my beloved Nissan Sentra that was totaled in a hail storm. I jumped on the used Volvo based mostly on a friends recommendation. Now I cant wait to get rid of it. Also, the AM radio never worked properly. And repairs cost an arm and a leg. Never again, Volvo.
