This Year's Model Updates:

Last year's 2.4T model is now the 2.5T, with the same 208-horsepower engine as the AWD model. Bi-xenon headlights are a new option, while the sport package for the 2.5T includes speed-sensitive power steering.

Pros:
  • Superb comfort, wide variety of safety and luxury features, balanced ride and handling characteristics, available all-wheel drive.
Cons:
  • Handling lacks true sport sedan precision, expensive optional equipment, turbo lag and torque steer in the T5 model.

  • Practically Fun! - 2004 Volvo S60

Build quality is much better than the 01 model I had sold. The power feels great and the clutch is not as bad as I have read in the car magazines. The engine feels smooth to me up and the car is deceptively fast...was touching 100 while passing a row of trucks without realizing it. The ride in sport mode is also better than I expected. Had the opportunity to run with (blow by) a 330i with sport package...looking forward to the snow with all-season tires!

  • Not really a Volvo - 2004 Volvo S60

Volvo - safe, functional cars, right? Well, not really with the S60. Yes it is a fun car to drive, but is this any different than the S40? No, would suggest not spending extra for this car. Seems as if Volvo lost sight of what Volvo stands for. Sure has great handling on perfect road conditions. Get some bad weather though, and look out, big time problems. Finding out safety record is disappointing - another non-Volvo feature. Forget using back seat - this really should be a coupe, not a sedan.

  • So Far So good - 2004 Volvo S60

I bought this car for my wife after she looked at BMW 3 series and MB 230. Weve put about 5K miles on it so far with no problems at all to date. The only negative things I can say is the turning radius sucks and the suspension is a bit noisy on bumpy roads. Other than that no complaints. Didnt like the noisy 4 banger on the MB and it seemed smaller. The BMW was the most fun but with similar options would have been 5-8K more and everybody has one.

  • Ultimate Volvo Turn On - 2004 Volvo S60

Volvo epitomizes "safety" to me and most important feature in a car for me was simply a comfortable, safe, and affordable ride until I bought a used 2004 S60R that has completely rocked my world! What a beast! I love the way the car handles, drives, and looks. AWD and lightning fast acceleration and solid braking... man, I am in love!

  • Smooth Ride, but at what cost? - 2004 Volvo S60

This car is amazing. Definitely an eye turner. Great acceleration in top gear when pulling away from traffic or overtaking slower cars. I have a geartronic and I believe that it needs to be six gears and not five (Volvo corrects this with the latest models). The front seats are comfortable for taller people. Theres a lack of storage space for things but otherwise not bad. I noticed fuel economy got better after approx 15K miles. Can somebody please do something about the turning radius and the wheels?

  • Stay AWAY FORM THE AUTOMATIC - 2004 Volvo S60
    By -

After break in I realized just what a total joke the S60R GT/Automatic was. DO yourself a favor and really drive this car prior to buying it. You will find early upshits kill all the performance and just as lousy downshifts limit how much fun, acceleration and control you can experieince with this joke of an R car. The S60 T5 is faster by far as well as other cars in the Volvo line up. I wont even get into VOLVOS total reluctance to acknowledge a problem with the automatic...all they say is operating within specs....yea maybe if it were builf to compete witha Honda accord...heck the honda will beat it in a drag race..I kid you not

  • S60 step up - 2004 Volvo S60
    By -

I previously leased a Volvo S40 and with the lease coming up, my husband found a private owner of an S60 who needed to sell because of a change in circumstances. We test drove the car and what a step up from the S40. Dont get me wrong, I loved the S40 but my kids quickly outgrew the backseat. The S60 has so much more leg room I am sure I will be keeping it for a long time. The drive is beautiful with a tight steering wheel smaller than I am used to but feels like a race car!

  • Awesommmme!!! - 2004 Volvo S60

What a great car! I originally went looking for the C70 convertible, but when I saw this one on the showroom floor, I couldnt resist. Imagine: 4 doors to accommodate a family; 6 speed manual transmission; AWD, 300 HP, and great gas mileage to boot! I love this car.

  • love it - 2004 Volvo S60

  • Bimmer to R - and very impressed - 2004 Volvo S60
    By -

I traded my 540 in on a Volvo R and its hard explain my enthusiasm. Sure, a Bimmer is performance - and Volvo stands for safety - until you drive it. Total performance all the time. Going for groceries has never been a faster trip and what a sleeper. One of the faster 4 door sedans on the road and the "R" emblem seems to disappear at a red light to the unsuspecting teenie racer with the lawn mower exhaust next to you... Great car so far - hope its BMW reliable in the future... :))
