Overview & Reviews
The big news is the arrival of the S60 2.4T AWD and its slick electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system. Additionally, all S60 models get Emergency Brake Assistance (EBA), enhanced traction control performance and improved throttle management, resulting in quicker response in everyday driving situations. Volvo's Dynamic Stability Traction Control (DSTC) system is now standard in T5 models and optional for the 2.4T AWD (starting in December 2001). Other model-specific changes include satellite controls on the steering wheel and rear cupholders for the base 2.4 model and a memory function for the power seats and mirrors in 2.4T and T5 models. The entire lineup gets revised rear headrests, ISO-FIX child restraint attachment points and an emergency trunk release handle.
- Long list of standard safety features, luxurious interior, powerful turbocharged engine in top-line T5 model, deceptively quick 2.4T powerplant, available all-wheel drive.
- Handling lacks true sport-sedan precision, expensive optional equipment, torque steer in the T5 model.

Im never buying a different car! - 2002 Volvo S60
By ikey - July 9 - 5:53 pmThe S60 has been a pleasure to drive. 247HP out of a turbo 2.3L I-5 is quite impressive and it is very reasonable with fuel. My mixed average is 25MPG, which is comparable to that of smaller cars. A lot of attention has been given to details and the build quality; it feels solid and is a quiet ride. The outside design is tasteful and simple and the interior is nicely laid out and ergonomic.

Great Deal - 2002 Volvo S60
By af - April 6 - 10:00 amFirst of all, the deal was great. 36 month lease, 1st month lease payment free, $2800. below MSRP, 0.34% interest rate! The car has been perfect for a rough New England winter. Only two minor problems. One was weird "service engine" messages from the message center which were untraceable and the other was an easily depleted battery with minimal radio use while engine off.

My Lemon - 2002 Volvo S60
By Carlh - February 23 - 9:10 amI bought the car at around 80K miles and the car checked out fine from my Volvo mechanic. After a snow storm, the bottom of the car was basically corroded and I needed to replace the entire exhaust system and several brackets. I was unable to find tires that would not rub against the interior wheel well, so it made this awful rubbing sound whenever I turned. The tire company insisted they sold me the manufacturer recommended tires. At 113K miles, the transmission gave out. Repair estimates are $5000-$7000. The car is basically junk now.

Fun Car with Class - 2002 Volvo S60
By Bob Keenan - January 22 - 2:00 amJust lost my 12 year old 5.0 L Mustang and was looking for a more "adult" car (safer with more room). But I did not want to totally lose that engine power that I had with the Mustang. I did a ton of research and narrowed my selection to the Lexus GS300, the W8 Volkswagon Passat, and the Volvo S60 T5. The Volvo just felt right. It looks good, its soooo comfortable, its safe. And when you floor it it almost feels like the ole Mustang.

First car - 2002 Volvo S60
By mostar94 - January 18 - 4:00 pmThis was my first car, and sadly had to be ruined by a rear ender :( Overall great car, great safety features, good performance. The only downside I can see is being somewhat pricey when I first bought it (2007), as well as a boring and somewhat small interior. Overall great car, you will be missed bud!

By criollo2mil - December 23 - 10:00 amFabulous interior feel. The car feels like a much more expensive car. Seats are the most comfortable in the business.

Bad Trani - 2002 Volvo S60
By horaciog - December 19 - 4:43 amThe car has been ok for the first 75k miles however, thing started to go wrong. This car will not last past 90K miles without having major work done on trani or front suspension.
