How do I feel about spending 70K on a Vw - 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton
By Todd Nilsen - January 21 - 2:00 amI love the vehicle there is no question this car rides, performs and handles better than Bmw745Li and Mercedes-Benz S500 4matic hands down and therefore I just purchased one for 70k and you get a lot for your money. So go out and look at one if your in this price level it might be a Vw but this is a world class car and in my opinion the leader of the pack.

Luxury Unsurpassed - 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton
By luxurycollector - December 9 - 2:00 amI have seen websites list Phaeton competitors as the Infinity Q45 and other "luxury" vehicles (Lexus 400 series, etc).My advice, buy a W12, or at least go to your local VW dealer and test drive it.It will take you about 2 minutes to figure out that those "competitors" are not competitors of this machine at all. This vehicle is designed to compete with the S Class Mercedes and BMW 700, and it not only compares favorably to these, but blows them away (for specifics refer to comparison chart of the Phaeton/S Class Mercedes/700BMW in the Phaetons brochure/manual).

Phaeton phenominal - 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton
By Chris Crane - August 28 - 4:56 amIt is a pleasure to drive the Volkswagen Phaeton V8. Every aspect of driving becomes enjoyable. The gauges and controls are logical, easy to read, and instinctive. The car handles amazingly well in the snow. I have driven an Infiniti Q45, BMW 740i, and Lincolns, but nothing compares to this car. There cannot be a greater value than the (reduced price) Phaeton.

2005 Phaeton V8 - 2005 Volkswagen Phaeton
By Franklin2 - August 7 - 7:00 pmThe only small negative about the Volkswagen Phaeton V8 is the poor fuel mileage. For a 5,200 lb car, I espected this though. Otherwise, I think it is just about perfect. It has excellent fit and finish. It has the people comforts you expect in only the best cars which cost much more. its engine is very powerful and the car is very smooth and quite at high speeds.

A Luxurious Rocket Ship Needs No Cachet - 2005 Volkswagen Phaeton
By J - July 19 - 11:10 amHandling, comfort, and electronics are superlative. The discount more than off set the absence of brand recognition. This is a car that you can drive coast- to-coast, in any weather. It is so comfortable and offers so much control on highways or country roads, it makes travel pure pleasure. In short, if your ego can handle a brand with less status, this is one very fine automobile.

Outstanding Value - 2005 Volkswagen Phaeton
By RL - April 2 - 7:53 amThis car, with the outstanding deals being offered, represents great value. The quality of the interior materials is above average for the class. Yes, its heavy, but it rolls down the road in fine style and the structure feels bank vault strong. Ive been averaging 17-18 mpg in a mix of city and highway driving, not bad for a large car. Overall Im very impressed so far, and look forward to driving this car every chance I get. Those who dont consider this car because its has the VW emblem are making an error, there is nothing like a Phaeton for the price. Consider this; the Bentley Continental is built on the same platform and shares most of the Phaetons running gear!

What a bargain - 2005 Volkswagen Phaeton
By george bentham - March 5 - 3:36 pmThe Volkswagen Phaeton W12 is the best kept secret in luxury automobiles. it has features galore, impressive performance, and terrific handling. Some critics have said the steering is too soft. Having owned at least one of each German made car, I can say the handling can only be criticized by a professional driver or nitpicking journalist. It corners beautifully and the all wheel drive is a bonus. I can only be critical of the navigation system, it doesnt have any street names. Otherwise, the car surrounds you with luxury and performance. With factory rebates to dealers, the price is astounding for a car of this level. I shopped the Audi A8L, BMW 745, and Mercedes S500. This car is a notch above them for about the same price.

Phaeton WILL NOT DISSAPOINT!!!! - 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton
By Chris K. - February 11 - 5:20 amFinest car I have ever driven (LS400,Beemers, A8, Jags better look out). Certainly, no american and very few foreign cars come close to the personality, presence, drive and feel of a Pheaton. Very luxurious but also very rewarding to drive. Wants for nothing! World class confort. Pay the extra $1000 for premium radio system...WOW! All-wheel drive great for Massachusetts winters. A true highway crusier, very mellow at 95mph, very stable, no wind noise. Beautifully performing engine and ultra smooth shifting. This Volkswagen is the real deal. VW really needs to do a better job of promoting a true world class automobile. Drive it and youll want to buy it!
