  • NEVER AGAIN!!! - 2000 Volkswagen Passat

I will never again owned a VW car, I had to replace all four tires before 25,000 miles and Breaks when I mostly drive on the car on the highway. Now i need to replace the Secondary air pump and the combi valves. This car is more of a headach than anything else. I am currently looking to get another car.

  • Dont Buy this Car or from Dorschel VW!! - 2000 Volkswagen Passat

I have had nothing but problems w/ my 2000 V6 Passat. After a year of driving I had on and off Emission problems for a year...numerous O2 sensors replaced and finally the coil wire and a recall put an end to those. In total about 6 trips to the dealer for the repairs over a years time. This fall w/ 36K miles my timing belt and water pump fail resulting in a complete engine rebuild which took my dealer Dorschel VW of Rochester, NY 5 weeks to repair. Now 3 months later I have a coolant leak requiring the engine to be taken apart again to be diagnosed.

I couldnt be more disappointed in a car. Its been in the shop out of commission for a total of eight days in a two year period. In my previous ten years as a Nissan/Toyota owner, I was without a car a total of ZERO days! I regret my decision daily and am trying to sell as we speak.

  • VW Passat GLS V6 wagon (140K miles) - 2000 Volkswagen Passat

It is a great car for everyday use. I have mine for 6 years and I drove around 70K miles and it runs like a champ. These V6 engines are strong and hard to kill. The only thing I changed besides suspension, is timing ( which is normal every car, so is the oil), gaskets, thermostat, and water pump. Yes these are expensive parts, if you buy original like you should. I am a mechanic so every part I buy, I change it myself. This car is great for hauling cargo inside. So if youre looking for a first car and know something about how change little things and have budget limit to 5K, I suggest you get this car. Now it depends on a person, if youre planning on modifying like boosting, get a 1.8T, if not and want to have the car as a daily drive, get a V6. Why a V6 for a daily drive, because turbos are very expensive to replace, and you never what the car went through with previous owner.

  • Expensive Upkeep - 2000 Volkswagen Passat

First off, emissions workshop showed up during our warranty, but Volkswagen jerked us around, and we have paid at least $2,500 in three separate attempts to unsuccessfully repair the emissions issues. Now it also has ABS brake problems and both of the front windows dont work. The cup holders are jammed/broken, the rubber handles are peeling, both front turn signal lights broke off, the side-mirror control broke off. I swear integral parts to this car are made of brittle plastic. You are forced to pay a premium for synthetic oil and premium gasoline. I thought VWs were great cars but I was thinking of the VWs in the 80s. It does drive pretty well, but I am worried about making inspection AGAIN.

  • All around great car - 2000 Volkswagen Passat

I have owned this car for nearly three years and have been very happy with it thus far. I have never had a problem with the car and it drives like the way it did when I drove it off the lot. The interior is really comfortable, the engine is quiet and smooth, yet powerful, and it is a great car for children with car seats. The styling is still attractive and it is fun to drive. This is the only car that I have owned that I would buy again. Kudos to VW on making a great car at a competitive price.

I have driven this car for two years, gives a superb drive, lots of room and easy to handle. I have had continual problems with the radiator, engine leaks, ball joints, rotors, and overall engine problems. Gas mileage is poor. Car is just unreliable.

  • Excellent Car - 2000 Volkswagen Passat

We have owned our 2000 Passat Wagon with the 1.8T since new. Over the 6 years we have owned it, we have been very pleased. We had a minor problem with the aux. air pump and the MAF sensor, but VW replaced them for no charge. Also, the water pump became noisy about 1,000 miles ago and they replaced it also for no charge. Other than these minor problems, the car has been fantastic. I have recommended it to friends and relatives, and they have also had great success. So, dont listen to all these negative reviews. This is a roomy, comfortable, fuel efficient, fun car. Buy one!

  • Run for the hills - 2000 Volkswagen Passat
    By -

Ive only owned the car for a short time and already it has been in the shop twice. My old faithful of 12 years never left me carless and yet I have been without this new car for a total of 6 days. First time, the air injection pump went out. Not cheap! This time the booster and main cylinder in the brakes. Not cheap and a safety factor. Dont buy!
