  • I love my passat! - 2000 Volkswagen Passat

I love my car. Have no doubts about this car, this is an Audi A4 with VW badging. All repair parts are completely interchangeable with an A4 of the same year. Passats are built in Germany so you know they are built correctly, not like the Jettas which are built in Mexico. You cannot go wrong with this car. Note for the consumer though, look for the 2.8L V6. The VW turbos have been known to need replacement after 100k km.

This is a great road car. I look for excuses to drive it on long trips. Seems like the faster you go the better the feel. A strong performer that doesnt need to downshift to climb some fairly steep hills. A car that goes this well really should stop well -- and this one does. The brakes have a really good feel to them. The ride is taunt and doesnt smooth all the bumps, but get real - this is a sports sedan. What you lose in smooth ride is more than compensated for by the handling.

Test drove Maxima, Accord and other used cars. Passat was best overall- most comfortable, safety features, good performance, excellent engineering. I have 45,000 miles on it and it still drives like new. Very quiet on the highway and smooth around town.

Excellent car, Im now a VW owner for life. Only problem was a bad mass airflow sensor, which is pretty common on these cars, good thing i got a warantee. the new sensor is almost $400! Would reccomend this car to anyone, the ride is as good as any audi ive been in, exceptionally smooth and quiet.

Just turn 4 years and 60,000 miles on the car. Still love the time I spend in it. It is just a kick to drive.

  • Where are the cup holders? - 2000 Volkswagen Passat

Im 45, Ive owned cars, lots of them. This is, by far, my favorite car. Its so much fun to drive, I know Im going to get in trouble. Havent yet, but Im going to. Ive found myself racing V8s (Ive got the 2.8 liter 6, 5 speed) and hanging with them until the end. This car is A BLAST. Not your first thought for a "mid-life crisis" vehicle, but a very good vehicle for it! Two thumbs, way up!!

  • 45000 miles and still turbos like new - 2000 Volkswagen Passat

At 45,000 miles I have had zero problems with the car. The car came with zero defects. I have the car serviced per VW spec (cost is not unreasonable). The fit and finish is superb (inside and out). Looks great and drives great. The engine is smooth, powerful and economical. The ride is awesome. The five speed transmission is a blast (would be 20% more fun if it had a six speed).

  • Couldnt Be Happier - 2000 Volkswagen Passat

No wonder Consumer Reports has picked this as the best car in its class for several years running. Quick as a Maxima, rated safer than a Volvo, quiet as a Camry, handles almost as well as a BMW and rides better. This is my first VW. I have owned Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, GM, Ford, and Chrysler. This car is the best.

I am amazed how much car VW offers for the money! The fit/finish and driving experience are worthy of a car twice as expensive and reliability has been first-rate. On top of that I get excellent mileage (32mpg in mixed driving) and comfort. I previously owned an A4 1.8TQ, but definitely feel the Passat is the better deal.

  • JUST TRY AND TAKE THIS CAR AWAY FROM ME! - 2000 Volkswagen Passat
    By -

I bought my 2000 VW Passat Turbo 5spd. in July of that same year--Satin Silver wth custom red (yes, RED) leather interior and upgraded GLX wheels. My other car was a BMW Z3, and others have included other BMWs, Hondas, Toyotas, etc. After one year of ownership, I decided that I liked the car so much that I installed Koni fully adjustable sport suspension, and wider, Toyo sport Proxes S-1 tires. My car is now comfortable, yet very tight, and handles like a dream. So much so that I replaced the Z3 with a Jeep, since I prefer the sport car feel of the Passat. I am getting 40 mpg on the highway, and about 26 mpg combined.
