Overview & Reviews
For 2001, improved cloth and velour interior materials come standard in the GL and GLS trim. Side curtain airbags that offer head protection for front and rear passengers are introduced this year, and steering wheel controls for the audio and cruise systems are available on GLS/GLX trim models. Optional 17-inch wheels and a sport suspension can be had on GLX models and GLS models with the 1.8T or VR6 engine. The Wolfsburg Edition returns as a limited-edition model in early 2001 -- standard features include sport suspension, bolstered sport seats and 16-inch BBS wheels. All models get redesigned cupholders and a trunk entrapment release button. A wagon arrives in the spring of 2001.
- Solid build quality, rich interior materials, loads of features, available turbo and V6 engines.
- Cookie-cutter Euro-copy sheet metal, bigger standard-features list means bigger base price.

Love my Jetta!! - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta
By nobby - January 6 - 2:00 amCant say enough good things about my Jetta. Cool white, tinted windows, 17inch rims and still getting complements when i go out. After reading about all the major problems with other jettas makes my jetta look like a keeper. The only minor problem was the wood trim next to the radio fell off the first month. They replaced it and nothing since. Dont plan on buying another jetta soon because I plan on having this car forever.

Great Car! - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta
By TDILOVER - May 2 - 10:00 amThis car has not been in the shop for anything except for the regular maintenance intervals. I bought the car because I drive about 50,000 miles per year and wanted the good gas mileage/longevity that a diesel provides.

A small performance sedan value - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta
By Sheep - April 17 - 2:00 amExcellent performance when chipped. Also increases gas mileage if you use the greatly enhanced torque to your advantage. The styling is very Euro: conservative yet fresh. Everything works in the car well. Controls well placed. Driving position is excellent. Transmission is very smooth and very precise if upgrade the shifter, which I did. I bought the car with the intention of making it into a hardcore sporty sedan with a minimum investment and it has delivered in spades! Fit and finish is superb for a car in this class; the interior will shame any Asian or American car in this category.

Great Car! - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta
By Love My Jetta - April 9 - 10:00 amI have had the car for a few months and I adore it. Fun to drive, easy on gas, nice interior and love the Monsoon sound system. So, far I havent had any major issues with the car as other Jetta owners in this forum have experienced. So far so good!

Great Car - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta
By Jonathan Edge - April 6 - 10:00 amOnly probloem ive had is with the dealership and some reliability issues. Other then that this is the best car ive ever driven! I havent test drove that BMW yet but it beats out anything in its price range. The quality of materials and build quality stand up against anything out thier. Plus the innovative feature and the creature comforts that no one knows about or notices untill you own the car are fantastick.

165,000 miles strong - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta
By pendii - April 2 - 3:18 amMy husband and I got this car certified used in 2005. It had 60,000 miles on it at the time and was still in great shape. Its been 7 years and weve put an additional 100,000 miles on it. Its still going strong! Its a very comfortable car and very fun to drive. Sunroof and heated seats are great. The only thing you have to know before you buy a VW is they are more expensive to repair and maintain because they require special tools. Some mechanics have even refused to work on my car, saying they dont do VWs. The car is showing its age a bit now. It does eat oil in its latter years. As long as we keep oil full, the engines still great.
