Overview & Reviews
Volkswagen eliminates the GLX trim level for wagons -- this means that those who prefer the VR6 engine to the 1.8T engine will have to stick with the sedan. As a consolation, GLS wagons equipped with the 1.8T are eligible for a premium package, which bundles traditional GLX content like power seats, automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers, wood interior trim and a trip computer. Additionally, VW has made the 1.8T available on both the GL sedan and wagon. GLs now have power windows and mirrors, cruise control and a CD player, while the GLS gets a standard sunroof and alloy wheels. All Jettas are available with stability control (ESP), heated seats and the Monsoon sound system. Other changes include a ULEV rating for the 2.0-liter four-cylinder, redesigned cupholders and backlit buttons on the standard stereo head unit.
- Powerful 1.8T and VR6 engines, fuel-efficient TDI powerplant, fun to drive, comfortable ride, rich interior materials, loads of standard features, solid build quality.
- More expensive than most small sedans and wagons, tight rear-seat legroom.

excellent car to own - 2003 Volkswagen Jetta
By vwdude - January 24 - 8:23 amMy wife and I have loved this car from day one. I think sometimes this car gets a bad rap but I think the build quality is just fine. We have 16,000 miles on the car and not a single problem.

GLB - 2003 Volkswagen Jetta
By gary leblanc - January 21 - 2:00 amcramp in the back seat cramp in front seat to let backspace for back passenger. front bumper will break if you hit hard snow in winter...protection panel under motor falls apart in winter...this is a really bad design to reduce noise and protect components (compressor, belts)from snow. If you live where you have winter...be prepare to pay for broken plastic parts around bumper...car is to low. Window will fall from tracks...You will freeze driving to the dealer to get this fix.

Jetta GLS 1.8T: Great Car - 2003 Volkswagen Jetta
By Nick B. - January 16 - 10:00 amI have 8,000 miles on my GLS and the car continues to make me smile every time I drive it. No problems at all. The design, engine performace, and creature comforts are awesome. Rest assured, the cupholders have been moved away from the CD and are now in the center. I got the cold weather package, monsoon CD,triptronic, and ESP. This car is most happy on a twisty country road. It handles like a much more expensive (read:BMW, Audi) car.

2003 JETTA WAGON - 2003 Volkswagen Jetta
By Jim lynch - January 4 - 2:00 amI have had the car for over one year now and am generally pleased with the vehicle. I have had a problem with the clutch pedal losing pressure a few times and also the rear seat unlocking when in the folded up position. It is a very solid car with great handling on the road. It could use a little more zip than a 2.0 offers, but for a blend of economy and preformance, it is a great car.
