Overview & Reviews
Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

Never Again - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By verucasalt - February 3 - 10:46 amI will never again buy a Jetta. I was warned about how many electrical problems they have, I bought one anyway and now Im selling it, less than a year later. I love my VW, but she loves the shop and constant weekly (no joke) repairs. Research wisely before buying one.

Brochure Fraus on Package #2 ! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By mislead and unhappy - January 28 - 11:50 amI bought a 2006 TDI Jetta package 2. Quoted in the 2006 brochure Under pkg#2 is listed "12 way power-adjustable front SEATS with 3-position memory." I did NOT get a power passenger seat. I have called VW of America to try to get some answers on why I dont have a powered passenger seat but have gotten nowhere. VW of America thinks I should have a "12 way power-adjustable drivers seat with 3-position memory". This isnt what the published brochure states. Also I dont have a self dimming day/night mirror either. I was told by VW customer care, this was part of package #1. According to the brochure, Package #1 includes package #2. I will never buy another VW!

Long Road Trip - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Loyal A Miller - January 27 - 4:46 amIn July we took a trip out to Ft. Collins, CO, then onto the Black Hills, SD, then on to The Devils Tower, over to Yellowstone, the grand Tetons, to Salt Lake City, down to the Grand Canyon and to El Paso, back to New Orleans, and then home to Daytona FL. What a car! We had always had a large car Lincoln Town Car or Cadillac . This little 100 horse power car never fails to impress. It had all the speed and comfort that you would need. In 21 days of driving we covered 7,100 miles and averaged over 38 miles to the gallon with speeds of over 90 miles per hour on the open highway. When I drive around 75 mph my mileage was over 40 mpg. I would recommend this car.

Best Bang for the Buck - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Todd Earnest - January 20 - 8:33 pmThis is my second Volkswagen Jetta TDI. I dive a ton and the uncompareable fuel mileage is nice on the wallet. I visit the gas station about half of the time as I would be doing if I had a gasoline engine.

Great for the Money - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Joe - January 17 - 2:33 pmFor the money, the 2006 Jetta Value Edition is a great car. I bought my 2006 Jetta slightly used and knew that I had made the right choice. As I look through the ratings of other cars I just laugh. GM is really funny. None of its vehicles should get a 5 or higher except for the Vett. VW makes good cars because they are drivers cars. This is the second VW for me and they keep getting better. For me the 2.5 has plenty of power because I have never had a very powerful car so it hard to compare to, unlike the editors that drive a $100,000 car with 800 horsepower. Of course the Jetta isnt powerful, but compared to other vehicles in its class it is good. My wife has a Saturn ION. Yeah, I cant wait to get rid of that car. Cheap plastic.

06 Jetta TDI - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By ScottysTDI2006 - January 13 - 9:40 amHi. I recently purchased a 2006 VW Jetta TDI. I am reallly happpy with my decision to go VW. I traded from 2003 Acura TL-S , I have to say that I dont even notice the diffrence in power and but I REALLY notice in the 43-45 mpg of the Jetta! Also I learned that it even can use BIO-Deisel, and help the enviorment, but this fuel is not widely avaiable where I live.

Isnt necessarily aging gracefully.... - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By nrlucas - January 13 - 4:04 amI bought this car 1 1/2 years old in 2008 with 10,000 miles to replace my totaled 2004 Mercedes-Benz E320. I was over the cost of Mercedes maintenance and the Benz-Chrysler era reliability issues, however almost 5 years later this car has proven equally reliable, and because I cant find a good VW mechanic Im still stuck with dealer servicing. I have paid every penny for maintenance of what I paid for my Mercedes...only in a car that cost slightly less than half of what the E320 cost brand new. Its very comfortable, drives nice but there are too many odd failures that have happened to me over the years including having to replace the suspension and fuel pump at 55,000 miles

looks nice but think twice - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By dizzle - January 8 - 10:00 am3 months after i bought the car the power steering went out and i almost got into an accident. The headliner started to fall down about 6 months later. Then the cd player quit working, they replaced it under warrenty. Also the paint started chipping on the door buttons and radio. The warrenty is over now and still falling apart. Most expensive piece of crap I ever bought. Now the drivers door stopped locking with the buttons. My last VW!!
