This Year's Model Updates:

Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

  • I Love My Jetta TDI - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I car shopped for five months looking at fuel economy and performance. I couldnt be happier with my choice. It has so much pep for a 4-cylinder and yet the gas mileage is unbelievable. I will have this car for a long time! I cant for see me owning anything other than a VW TDI!

This is my 2nd Diesel Jetta. If you are after mileage this is the way to go as long as you can keep up with the service costs. Count on a couple hundred every 5,000 and twice that for the 10,000 mile check-ups. As long as you keep diesel additives in it and use quality diesel there is no concern. Make friends with your service adviser and that car will last for at 200,000 miles not problem. 300,000 is attainable but be much more careful with the service. Once the kids start to get into their teens you do tend to outsize the vehicle. I will probably buy another diesel Jetta next time too.

  • A Must Have - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I have often kept the VW name in the back of my mind over the last few years leading up to my purchase, my only concern in buying was that the Jettas I had driven (friends cars) seem to have poor power and marginal interior comfort. Since these cars are mostly built in Mexico and South America, I was also concerned at the initial quality of the VW. I spent one month looking for used SUVs in the $15,000 range and never really considered buying a new car. I had stopped at a VW dealership looking for a slightly used SUV or sedan, but I couldnt keep my eyes from wondering over to the 2006 Jetta. I kept thinking "boy I wish I could afford one of those." To my complete suprise the cost was only $17,984.

The drivers door began to separate from the frame. The electronics in the door suffered from a short. Plastic parts on the interior break off on their own and are expensive to replace. My car may have been one of the first new Jettas, but some of these issues are unacceptable.

If it has not happen by now the headliner will come off the cd will stop working properly and you will hear a fan noise when the car is started. I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 and a 1988 Nissan Pathfinder and this never happen. I wonder what is coming next and I dont what to keep this car any longer. That is my last VW that I would own.

  • Awsome Fun! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

The Jetta GLI is a fantastic daily driver with excellent pick up, handling, and fuel economy. I have been getting 29 mpg in spirited city and highway driving. I can get upwards of 33 mpg strictly highway at speeds of 75-85 mph.

The new Volkswagen GLI is worlds ahead of the Jetta it is based on. The GLI should be considered a separate model like the GTI is, in my opinion. I have driven both the Jetta and own the GLI and they are both great cars. The GLI has a 200 horsepower engine with lots of torque that all but negates turbo lag. It provides instant speed at any speed or rpm level. Option package two with sport leather seats makes a real difference in comfort. The seats hold you in as you race through the turns. I am five months into my ownership experience and do not have one complaint or concern. The car is fast, fun, flirty and FAST. With the sport suspension and bigger tires, this car handles like a roadster. It is a dream come true!

  • 23,000 Fun Filled Miles! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I have owned my Jetta GLI for over a year and have become a die hard VW enthusiast! I have made a lot of modifications to my car, like adding a turboback exhaust, Revo chip, intake and 18" aftermarket rims. I loved the power and handling of this car from my first and only test drive! I have two young children and it works fine as a family sedan. The trunk is 16 cu. ft., which is enormous! I commute 375 miles/week and my GLI makes it much more bearable!

This is a great car. Never thought a VW would be so fun to drive. Its faster than the earlier version and it has a ton more room in the back seat. The leather is much nicer as is the location of all of the controls. Cant think of a thing about this car that I can complain about and I have 3,000 miles on it.

  • High Mileage Vehicle - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I purchased this car because I was laid off from my job and knew that I would have to commute much further to my next one. I have averaged 44.6 MPG on almost every tank so far. It is also a very comfortable car to drive. It accelerates well and brakes quick. The steering is very manuverable. I also feel safer in it than in my SUV because of all the airbags.
