Overview & Reviews
Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

My First VW Purchase - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By JettaTDILUVr - August 22 - 4:03 amThis is the first VW we have ever owned and I am very pleased with it. My family was in a terrible accident with our Avalon, which ended up saving their lives. To replace it, I decided to get a more economical vehicle, but was looking for one with the highest safety rating and comfort in its class. Thus, I went with the Jetta. Historically, we have been loyal Toyota owners (2 Corollas, 2 Camrys, 1 Avalon, and our current Land Cruiser). I am thrilled with the fuel economy - about 46-48 mpg in town and 50-51 on the highway. I have Pkg. 2, and added every possible option to distinguish it from other Jettas. Although it is only fourteen months old, Ive put over 22,000 miles on it with no repairs needed. Just like a Toyota.

Efficient and Fun - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Warren - August 11 - 10:30 amThis car is so much fun to drive, not to mention its getting ~43mpg over the first 5,500 miles (its not even broken in yet). It is fun to drive and the heated seats are great! The DSG automatic transmission is awesome! I also have the option to run up to a 5% blend of biodiesel (which I do). This is a great car with lots of room (Im 6 tall and dont have to put the seat all the way back).

German is not always quality - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Former Jetta Driver - August 8 - 2:00 amI bought this car brand new and after 5 years put 60000 miles on it. Service intervals cost an arm and leg. Quality is terrible. Car was cupping tires, the electrical in left door failed, lights burn out randomly, paint peeling of interior buttons and radio. Speakers stopped working. Do not buy VW, this is not the same German car it used to be years back. It is the biggest piece of junk. The dealer always makes excuses when there is a problem and blames it on wear and tear or customer fault. This car was terrible. It only had 57000 when I traded it in to get rid the junk.

New 2006 Jetta TDI - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By John B - July 29 - 3:56 amI bought this car to replace a 1999 Pathfinder. I bought it for the gas mileage and so far I am getting 30-32 City and 40-42 highway. I am very satisfied with almost all aspects of this car except the air conditioning. My wife has a 1999 Beetle and it cools far faster than the Jetta. I have only 2,600 miles and have taken it back to the dealer for the A/C. I was told there is no problem with the A/C, but it takes between 3 and 7 minutes for very cool air to come out. I find I have to put it on recirculate to get it cooled faster.

Excellent vehicle! Love the car. - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Shel - July 19 - 7:40 pmI was leery about the purchase. Never owned a foreign car. I average about 47 mpg on the highway and 41 in the city. I have no complaints about the car. I love it and the fuel mpg!!

I Love To Drive My V-Dub - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By KJ - July 7 - 2:56 amHave you ever owned a car that you cant wait to drive it again? This is the car! This is truly a drivers car. The fit and finish is first rate. Where do I start? Its the premium sound system with Sirius satellite and 6 disc MP3 player and the leather heated seats and the attractive interior night lighting and the power sunroof and the automatic climate controls and the automatic headlights and the rain sensing windshield wipers and the spacious trunk. This is a loaded vehicle. This is what a luxury car is supposed to be.

2006 VW Jetta - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Jetta owner - July 3 - 7:16 pmThe Jetta has good build quality. The interior is top notch. I was amazed at what all you get for the price. It has lots of airbags and all the other safety items. The engine is really smooth, maybe too smooth. I stalled out many many times when we first got it trying to start out with the five speed. The clutch has really no feel to it. Also, the engine could use more power.
