This Year's Model Updates:

Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

  • Fantastic Auto - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

In May 2006 I bought a new 06 TDI Jetta with Pkg 1. We wanted Pkg 2, but it was not avaliable. We drove to Maine from Florida with just one fill up. I average 47 mpg. Our last two autos were a Cadillac DHS and a Toyota Avalon XLS. My wife and I enjoy this TDI better than the last two autos. We also own a 2002 Jetta GLS TDI. It is slightly smaller than the 2006 model. I love them both. I am looking forward to purchasing another TDI in 2007.

  • Loved my GTI 1.8T, Realy LOVE the GLI - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I looked at the Acura TSX the Mercedes-Benz C230 Sport, but I just fell more in love with the features and comfort and feel of the Jetta GLI. I got an 06 GLI w/package 2, sirius, the navigation system, rear airbag and spoiler. Previously, I had an 02 GTI and loved it so much I didnt want to sell it but I needed more room. I get more for less money with the Jetta than with the C-Class or the TSX. They had similar features, but felt not quite as put together as the GLI. On top of that in most of the reviews I have read the GLI was put on top. I must say I agree with that end result! I love this car, driving and the feel of the car on the road are great. I would say they could lessen the wind noise, but I normaly have the radio up too loud to hear it anyway :-)

  • Bad in the Snow - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

We love our Jetta, the only problem we have is its performance in the snow. We are not sure if its just the tires...but will look into different tires before winter hits.

  • Best Sports Sedan Value - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I have had this car for 3 years and 40,000 miles and it drives as good as the day I picked it up. I came from a Saab 9-3 and looked at buying a new one until I drove the GLI. I also considered the Acura TSX, Audi A4, BMW 328I and Infiniti G35. The GLI handled and performed as well or better and priced up to $10,000 less. If you are looking for a great handling, powerful sports sedan without having to say "Look at Me" this is the car for you. I dont look at this car as an overpriced Jetta but as a bargain BMW. I have been so happy with it that I bought the car after my lease ended. This car has incredible build quality and plenty of room in the cabin. You will not be sorry!

  • Im an Idiot - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I bought this car brand new, two weeks later when washing it I discovered what looked like the back window had been broken and replaced. Long story short, it had been broken during transport and nobody knew...? The best they would do is give me free maintenance for two years as compensation. Then while fixing the window, they broke a strut in the trunk. They just fixed that and now my heater is broken, no air and no heat. My speakers seem cracked, they found nothing. The car revved high and the light came on, they again found nothing. I have under 6,000 miles on this car. Im "farfromgroovin" right now!

  • Ultimate - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

The TDI is amazing, the mileage is awesome, and this little car is a torque monster for being a 1.9L. Aside from the window switch, radiator (As the stealer told me) and the radio buttons breaking, all under warranty. I would say this car is the way to go. I would highly recommend the VW TDI over ANY other vehicle. Just be sure to buy a warranty

  • Two month review - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

After a 1,000 mile break-in period in town, we took our Jetta on a 2,000 mile round trip from Florida to the high elevations of North Carolina. We were very impressed with the guts of this diesel engine on very steep terrain. It had no problems passing uphill! The biggest complaint we have are the front seats. They are very uncomfortable! One of the best features are the back seats that fold forward allowing for plenty of luggage and our 100 pound black labrador. We would, however, like the seats to fold flat. The cruise control is somewhat confusing as it is right next to the directional signal control. So far our average fuel economy has been 36 city and 42 highway. Overall we are very pleased.

  • TDI - Great Ride, Great Milage - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Wow what a fun car. It has plenty of power and plenty of range. I am getting about 500+ miles to a tank of diesel # 2 fuel with about a 13 gallon capacity. It starts right up, even on cold mornings. Also, it only needs oil changes every 10,000 miles after the break in period. This car is great.

  • Great Commuter Vehicle - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

The Jetta TDI is a great car for driving long distances in. I drive 60 miles one-way to work and the fuel mileage is great. The car has about 40,000 miles on it now and I have had no problems. The maintenance is a little pricey, but everything else has been outstanding.

  • Coming in Hard - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

This car is crazy. i take it off roading, racing, off jumps and still have not had one problem. I thought it would be my fun car to rip up but it is now a performance and luxury car. I dont know how VW can sell it so cheap. The turbo that I thought would be so so is a pretty good size for such a small car. If you are trying to choose between a BMW 3-Series, a Mercedes-Benz C-Class, an Audi, or this car, go with the VW.
