This Year's Model Updates:

Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

The VW Jetta has a r responsive and refined engine with little turbo lag. I love the smooth shifting 6-speed DSG transmission. This car is very steady at high speeds. It has a high quality, quiet interior. I like how all of the buttons are illuminated. It has a very thoughtful design. Mine is white with Pkg. 1 and 2.

This car is so much fun to drive. I originally wanted an A3, but found the suspension too stiff. I test drove the Passat and the GLI as well, and this one was just right. I love the interior styling. The car handles super nice in curves and when merging into traffic. I love the pick up. My 6 year old calls it the Silverbullet. I had issues with catalytic convertor, rear armrest and satellite radio. Dealership took care of it promptly. This is the best car Ive ever had so far.

Ivery had it 10 years and had very few problems, too bad it was hit from behind

  • I Love my Jetta! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I have driven everything from cars to vans to SUVs to big Hemi trucks. By far this is the most fun, smooth driving, easy to park, economical vehicle I have ever driven. There is pllenty of leg room for passengers that are with me. The trunk is huge. Everything is right at your fingertips. My Jetta came with Sirius radio, which is very nice on long trips. It has plenty of get up and go too. Its gas mileage is great. What can I say....I Love My Jetta!

I have had this car now for about a week and already have 1,600 miles on it! I could not be happier with the car, the gas mileage could be a little better, but that might have something to do with the way I drive the car.

Car had problems from day one. Engine noise etc. Cheap made switches. This was my forth VW and last. Worst customer service in the industry. $89 oil change is ubsurd for a VW.

Weve had a Prius for about 18 months, and needed a second car. I wanted a bit more inside the car - leather, etc. - but Id become addicted to 50 mpg. I hadnt thought about diesel but after I drove the TDI and read about the mileage I was hooked. I easily get 55 mpg with freeway driving - Ive gone through three tanks of gas so far and have gotten no worse than 46 mpg with combined driving. The car is much tighter and more solid feeling than anything Ive driven before. It took a few days to find a comfortable driving position but with the electric seats and telescoping wheel I finally came up with a nice combination. My wifes Prius is a fine car, but I havent driven it since I got my Jetta.

I love this car. My only problem was the dealership service. I had no other problems. I was concerned that it may be a "chick" type of car, NOT the GLI. It puts a smile on my face and it keeps up with your higher end cars. Id almost consider the car a sleeper because most get blown away by the speed and ride quality. My wife claims the ride is too stiff. I just told her that is great and that she doesnt have to drive it. :)

  • Blown Away by MPG - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Every time (like today) I read about the "highest MPG cars", I look for a diesel. Previous to this VW, I had a 1998 Lexus ES300, which I loved, totaled in an accident. This, purchased at boyfriends urging, after his purchase of Beetle Diesel, has been a pleasant surprise. HUGE trunk, fabulous MPG (I was disappointed recently with 41 MPG, after using A/C all the time (live in Phx.). I drive the surface streets, not the highway, usually, and theres no bigger thrill than coming to work and seeing average MPG 56+, which happens all the time. This helps to offset 0-12 when you have to stop. Also had to sit in traffic on freeway recently for 2 hours and got lowered MPG, which was normal.
