This Year's Model Updates:

Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

  • Fun to Drive and Good Looking - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

This is a very nice and a beautiful looking car car. It is roomier than the previous generation Jetta. It is a good size car for family of four. Its trunk space is generous and it has plenty of room. I love driving this car. I have the 2.5L, 5-cylinder and I found it to have very good handling and to be very responsive.

  • Very disappointed, last VW ever for this guy. - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I like the style and performance of this vehicle when its running. However over the past 12 months Ive had to pay over $5,400 in repairs/maint. just to keep it running. On top of what was done under warranty before, the following has had to be replaced: flywheel, both front axles, another front axle (second time), camshaft, horn spring ($600), the timing belt and water pump also needed done at 100k miles to the tune of $1200. 117k total miles on car...Im selling it before something else fails and will never own another VW. These cars are fine under warranty...not worth paying off, may as well sell and buy another under warranty.

  • A Great All-around Sports Sedan - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Of all the cars I have ever owned, this is my favorite. I normally suffer from buyers regret - wondering whether I would have been happier with another car. I have never second guessed my decision to buy this car. The engine is fantastic - returning great gas mileage and managing to be responsive when given the gas. The handling is excellent. The interior is spacious, well thought-out and very upscale. The quality of the materials is top-notch. I have experienced no mechanical problems in seven months of ownership.

I have absolutely loved my experience with my Volkswagen Jetta TDI so far. It is fun to drive and handles very well. The fuel economy is wonderful. I do not have the engine broken in yet and I am already getting around 600+ miles to a tank. We are looking into getting a second one right now.

I jave an 06 Jetta 2.5 with PKG 2 and Nav. It has a peppy engine but gets so-so gas mileage. The auto transmission is not as smooth or refined as in my 02 Jetta. The Navigation works great, but the sound system is a step backward from the Monsoon system in past models. This car has a great ride, it is quiet and smooth. It has a very roomy trunk. The Vision V wheels are very good looking, much better than stock.

A great car all around. Drives great and very reliable. Comfortable on the inside; I like to haul things and there is plenty of room for that with the seats knocked down. The sound system is great. I am happy with engine and fuel economy but I only wish they would improve the engine to perform like the European models - more power for the same fuel economy. I would recommend it to anyone.

  • A Fun Car to Drive, - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Bought my TDI Brand new had to wait almost 4 months to get it. I have a manual transmission and the only problem I have had with the car is the clutch went out at 13,000 miles. Of course this is a wear item that is only covered for 12,000 miles. After doing some research found out that I was not the only one having this issue. Had to argue with the dealership but finally got them to replace it under warranty. Otherwise great car lots of fun to drive. Great MPG (41/49). The only other complaint is the air conditioning could be better. Does not do well unless car is going over 30 mph. I do get a lot of compliments on the car, almost as many as when were on the harley.

This is the second Jetta I have bought. It definately is way better than the original. My wife and I both try and justify why we ought to take it out. We are planning to by another or perhaps a GTI to replace our second vehicle when the lease runs out on our current Japanese van..

  • Continues to WOW - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I still am in love with my Jetta. I a bought it exactly a year ago and every day it continues to impress me and others. The more I drive the car the better the gas mileage gets. I currently average about 28 mpg in mixed driving. While those figures are not the best in class it is still really good. Highway driving I have gotten upwards of 34 mpg. The 5-speed manual transmission is still as smooth as the day I bought it and the clutch is as light as a feather (no joke). The power is not overwhelming but is not underwhelming, the torque, especially midrange is what truely is impressive. My friends continue to be wowed at the feature content of the car for the low base price. Keep it up VW!
