For 2001, improved cloth and velour interior materials come standard in the GL and GLS trim. Side curtain airbags that offer head protection for front and rear passengers are introduced this year, and steering wheel controls for the audio and cruise systems are available on GLS/GLX trim models. Optional 17-inch wheels and a sport suspension can be had on GLX models and GLS models with the 1.8T or VR6 engine. The Wolfsburg Edition returns as a limited-edition model in early 2001 -- standard features include sport suspension, bolstered sport seats and 16-inch BBS wheels. All models get redesigned cupholders and a trunk entrapment release button. A wagon arrives in the spring of 2001.

  I have had my WB Jetta for a little over six monthes now. Its a blast to drive. I been in the shop for minor issues. (squeeks, rattles, dash bulbs). My only major problems was my brake lights were stuck on at 17,800 miles, only 3,000 after taking delivery and Ive had one window regulator replaced under extended warranty. No engine problems.

  I owned a 1992 MB 400E before this Jetta. I used to have a 1986 Jetta also. By buying this car I didnt lose the power/weight ration thanks to the high low-end torque. I enjoy the manual transmission something I missed in MB. There have been very few flaws with the car. I think I am going to keep it another 2 years until I can get the next gen Jetta or back to E-class again. I would recommend Jetta for those who want to have fun while driving even in a traffic jam.

  Bought a 2002 Jetta wagon in Oct 2001 and I love the car. I got the 2.0 liter 5-speed manual transmission and this car has no problems accelerating with one person. The cornering is excellent and the ride feels like a sports car. The interior looks and feels great (esp. at night). Small size makes parking easy. The wagon gives you almost as much cargo space as a small SUV with much better gas mileage.

  This 2001 just keeps geting better, averaging 46+mpg of diesel and loving every mile. THe best part is the dealer service department. relatively few problems, but my next car will definitely come from Harper. I also have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer that cost twice what this car did and they (Chevy) have convinced me to buy VW next time with their attitude.

  My Volkswagen Jetta Wagon is the best. I am a musician and haul lots of instruments and gear. I loaded all this up in several wagons for a test drive and there was no question. This car held more equipment, drives much better (its a blast to drive), is more comfortable for long drives, and the sound system is outstanding. The heated seats and sunroof add to the joy. I could not be happier with this car. Ive got 115,000 miles and never had a problem. I have only had to make oil changes and 3 tune-ups. Fahrvergnuegen! Danke Volkswagen!

  I just wanted to say that this is an amazing car! Theres more than enough power stock in this car, its a dream. Its got all the features I need and all the controls are very instinctual (unlike a few Japanese cars Ive driven...). Id have to give VW a lot of praise for this little wonder.

  Bought the Jetta new and drove it for 53,500 miles. Fun car to drive and comfortable. Only complaint is electrical problems (windshield wipers, door locks, CD player,dash lights) which were corrected by service department after several trips in. Most impressed with the safety of vehicle. My wife and daughter were t-boned by a car going in excess of 70 mph. All air bags deployed and the only injury from this twisted metal was my wife sufferd a broken arm. Doctors, police and insurance adjuster were all amazed, given the impact the Jetta received and the condition of the vehicle, that no one was not killed or more severly injured. The safety features were the #1 reason I bought the Jetta. Im glad that I did.

  I had no idea what I was buying when I got this car used but have been amazed at my luck. With little to no problems, my Jetta is my pride and joy. It is reasonably priced its an amazing car that looks as good as it feels. I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone.

  First time owner of VW product. Will continue to purchase more. I am very impressed with quality and performance. Wish they had glx vr6 for 03, but discontinued.
