This Year's Model Updates:

Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

  • Excellent performance and value! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

I just drove my new Jetta GLI from Atlanta, GA to Pittsburgh, PA and back. Going through the mountains in Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia I figured I would get 26 to 27 mpg. I got 30.7 on the way there and 31.8 on the way back. I was very impressed with the handling and acceleration up and down the mountains. On the road and when I did stopped for gas I got plenty of looks and a few people that just had to asked what kind of VW is that?! This is an awesome car and I recommed it to anyone who wants great looks, performance, fuel economy, and comfort in a sport sedan.

  • Jetta Junk - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I take very good care of my autos. Service is done as specified by the manufacturer, always using the best quality parts available. This Jetta is the worst car that I have ever owned. I have bought 17 new cars in the last 20 years for my family. I have owned Nissans, Fords, GMs, Mazdas, Dodges, Toyotas and Mercedes. Any of these autos are hands down better autos than a VW Jetta. Maintenece on this Jetta is the worst I have ever seen. I have a 2004 Corvette that costs far less to maintain than this piece of junk. Do not even use VW and Mercedes in the same sentence. VW is not even close in any aspect to a Mercedes. Do not buy a 2006 Jetta 2.5.

  • One nice 4 door rocket - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

This car gets great preformance, has lots of room, has good handling for a front wheel drive vehicle, and gets good fuel economy

  • A Great Vehicle To Own - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

We love taking our Jetta on trips. Im so excited at the distance we can go without having to stop for gas. The only quirk I have is the passenger seat is not as comfortable as I would like it to be. Overall though, I love the vehicle and the ride and the safety is great for a someone with children.

  • Brings the fun back +45 MPG! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

The 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI gets my highest rating. It is super fun to drive, comfortable, roomy, the sound system is great...all this plus it gets 45 MPG. Now how could you beat that? The six-speed auto transmission drives like a sports car instead of a sedan. All this in a $25,000 package. I have nothing but praise for my Jetta!

  • Totally Suprised! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

I traded in my Nissan 350Z for a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta GLI. Its coming closer to winter now, and I didnt feel like driving the Z in the snow again. I got a great deal on my trade, new car, financing, and a great dealership. I thought that I would be content with the GLI vs. the Z, but boy was I suprised. I actually have MORE fun driving the GLI than the Z. Its smoother, more comfortable, better handling, and gets way better gas mileage. All of that with a trunk and back seats too!

  • Solid Automobile - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Owned a Saab 9-3 and test drove a Honda Accord. This car falls between the two. The Saab was more sporty, the Honda was more roomy and people oriented. The quality of materials is better than both. Its handling is very good and it is very fun to drive. The diesel engine pulls well, it is even a bit sporty once you are already going (ie. passing is a breeze). As refined as the engine is, there is still some noise and vibration that tends to bring out any possible piece of vibrating plastic in the cabin. This is a great car! It is a real pleasure to drive. I cant comment on the sound system, I tend to play kids CDs or listen to talk radio.

  • Great Gas Mileage - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

No doubt the 2006 Volkswagen TDI will get over 40 miles per gallon on the highway even at speeds over 75. We have noticed that in town driving you have to be careful. Its so fun to drive you want to push the turbo. The worst mileage we had was 31 in the city but average just city no highway we get 35. Im tall and this Jetta is so much more comfortable than our 1998 Jetta. If you buy a 2006 model make sure you opt for the rubber mats. We went to Florida and having those were important the the truck has a mat also.

  • New TDI first day - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

First day - and finding this Special edition TDI is a really great surprise. After 8 yrs. & 200,000 miles of great Audi A4 1.8T quattro driving, I get all the features and gas mileage with only giving up 4 wheel drive and xenon lights. Really happy with quiet ride, handling and performance computer on the dash. Of course gas mileage at 45-48 mpg on the first day on a 225 mi. trip is a real treat. Looking forward to another great experience with a German car for a really great price. Waiting for the A4 diesels in 2008 is still not firm and of course more $. Really pleased day one.

  • Dont Do It - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

I bought my Jetta in August. In November, I had an A/C issue, fixed w/warranty. In July I had a brake problem - needed brand new rear pads and rotors due to some horrible manufacturing issue. Not covered under warranty since I was past 12,000 mi. August 2007 (one year later) I find paint chipping from the rear passenger window frame. Very unhappy w/this purchase.
