Overview & Reviews
Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

Jetta TDI - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By alex - May 22 - 2:30 amIf I try I get close to 850 miles per 15 gallon fill-up (yes, you can squeeze more than 14.7 gallons) in mostly highway driving. The interior is made of quality materials and all features are first-class for a car in this price range.

Great Gas Mileage - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By hezekiah - May 1 - 4:23 amI got 44 mpg on my first tank and did not drive like a granny. The car has good freeway power. The power from a stop seems sluggish until you learn how to drive it correctly. Its amazing how easy it is to smoke the tires from a roll in first gear.

Dont Buy the Navigation System - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By fherb - April 16 - 11:56 pmMy 2006 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5 is what I expected except for the navigation system. The navagation system is inferior to others on the market. As an $1800.00 option it doesnt offer much. It provides very little road detail (like road names). In most areas roads dont even appear on the screen. I have a GARMIN IQue 3600 (a $600.00 portable unit) that can run circles around the VW unit for reliability and accuracy. If your going to spend an additional $1800.00 on your new VW get $1200.00 worth of accessories and spend the other $600.00 on a GARMIN IQue 3600. VW did replace the system. The new one is no better than the old. Dealer says "thats as good as they get." Also, my cars engine is noisy when started. It sounds like it needs oil.

"Drivers Wanted" - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By derek - April 8 - 5:26 amThe GLI is a well-rounded vehicle with great responsiveness in power from the turbo engine. I have owned 6-cyl. engines with less reaction to the gas pedal. Yet, the German performance suspension is athletic and smooth when called to do so. My vehicle has the 17" alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot touring tires which works in concert with the vehicles performance and agility. The cabin is par with Audi and the exterior is sleek and attractive...just ask the 25 or so people who complemented the vehicle before I arrived home from the dealership. this car is a great value and fun to drive!

Amazing Car - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By CPB - March 30 - 2:33 amI have driven performance Audis since 1996 (S6 avant, S4, and a chipped allroad). This car compares favorably to all of them. The fit and finish is right up there with Audi at half the price. The gas mileage is awesome. This car handles well and has great performance once off the line. If you need more power, chip it for $500 and increase the HP to 133. I drove the Prius, it wasnt fun to drive and the mileage was not as good (see Autoweeks comparison). The Jetta TDI is comfortable, refined, fun to drive, looks good, is a bargan at $22,000 and gets 40+ MPG when you drive it normally. This is a great car on its own merits and you can feel good about helping the environment by driving it.

I love my Jetta! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By webwevr - March 25 - 7:38 amI have had my Jetta going on 6 years now. Have just over 60k on it. Regular maintenance has always been done (i.e. oil changes, tire rotations). I just replaced the battery a few weeks ago. My gas mileage has always been great with age. Most fuel efficient automobile Ive ever owned. I previously drove mostly Fords (Escape, Windstar, F250).
