Overview & Reviews
Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

New Jetta TDI - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Pat - July 25 - 1:20 pmI have less than 1,000 miles on my Jetta TDI so far. I got 35 mpg on my first tank of gas. Everything seems to work.

This Car Delivers - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By GLI Guy - July 20 - 7:50 amI had been looking for a new car for awhile. I really wanted another VW (my 98 Beetle had been flawless), but they had no new offerings that appealed to me. Once I saw the Jetta GLI I was interested, but a test drive sealed the deal. The car is excellent, delivering performance and comfort in a relatively affordable package. It is an Audi with a VW price. In the 1+ year I have had it I have had only two issues, both dealing with the XM stereo. My friends comment about my "fancy" VW all the time and people comment on how sexy the car is. Ive never heard a VW called sexy. Its fuel economy has been good, I average 26 mpg between city and highway driving. I would recommend this car to anyone.

Dont Buy a VW - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By ihatevw - July 17 - 5:23 pmFrom the radio & power window buttons peeling off to the worst designed tire jack Ive seen, these cars are garbage. Volkswagen may make some sporty cars, but beyond the looks they are a big piece of crap. If youre looking for a reliable car keep looking but if youd like to drive a hunk of junk buy a VW. Never again will I waste money on a German car.

You Gotta Get it - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By David - June 28 - 5:06 pmI am 16 years old, and I love this car. Both of my parents drive high end German vehivles and in my opinion this beats both of them. I suggest this car to any one, the Value Edition really is a value, its a lot of car for the price. It comes much better equipped than the Golf but for practically for the same price. I love it and its fast.

TDI Heaven - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Jon Schade - June 17 - 5:53 pmThis car has been an interstate killer! This car will cruise I-95 all day long at 90mph+ with no strain. 50mpg typical... the faster you go, to a point, the better the fuel economy. I replaced OEM air filter with K&N from day one... slight notice in power. Will buy 2008 Jetta with the new motor for more horse power and torque.

Very Happy Owner - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By J. Avedikian - June 16 - 11:50 pmI was very suprised at how powerful the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta GLIs engine is a low rpms. I also have a 225 Audi TT and this sedan out performs it. The DSG transmission is amazing with lighting fast shits that no one in a manual could match. I am still not crazy about the tail lights, but everything else outweighs them. Im sure an aftermarket option will be available. I looked at the Audi A3 and felt the Jetta GLI was a better value since almost everything that was an add on in the A3 was standard or in Pacakage 2 of the Jetta. Ive owned two other Jettas and two GTIs and this GLI has everything Ive ever wanted in a VW.

My favorite car to date. - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Phillipk - June 13 - 7:40 amI have had mine for 6 months and have absolutely no complaints. It drives wonderfully and the winter package is especially great in Minnesota. I also looked at the Honda Accord and Volvo S40. One change Id recommend, add Bluetooth like the Jetta in Europe. The button is there, but it does nothing.

Pretty good - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
By Mike - June 13 - 4:26 amIve only owned Hondas and one Subaru (a WRX) before this car, and I wanted something different and cheaper. I got a really low lease on this car. This car is fine. Its anonymous, comfortable-just real easy to live with. Its different than Japanese cars, though. It makes weird noises, and some of the controls seem counterintuitive. Ive had absolutely no reliability problems so far, which is unexpected.
