For 2001, improved cloth and velour interior materials come standard in the GL and GLS trim. Side curtain airbags that offer head protection for front and rear passengers are introduced this year, and steering wheel controls for the audio and cruise systems are available on GLS/GLX trim models. Optional 17-inch wheels and a sport suspension can be had on GLX models and GLS models with the 1.8T or VR6 engine. The Wolfsburg Edition returns as a limited-edition model in early 2001 -- standard features include sport suspension, bolstered sport seats and 16-inch BBS wheels. All models get redesigned cupholders and a trunk entrapment release button. A wagon arrives in the spring of 2001.

  I have had my Wolfs since Aug. 01 and I love every second behind the wheel. This is my third VW (90 Corrado G60, 95 Jetta), gotta love that German Engineering (No one does it better). The handling is excellent and the seats hug you in the turns. There are not enough good things that can be said about the 1.8T other than, "I wish it came in a 6cyl. Turbo."

  this vehicle is proof that German engineering is unrivaled! The overall comfort and convenience is excellent. As a long distance driver(Northern Cali to Phoenix), I could not have made a better decision. I find myself driving this car more than my new car(2004 CLK500). This is my 4th VW and I am happier with my current more than my others. All of the minor issues I have had are more than worth the price of ownership. Compared to other vehicles in the same price range, it excells in comfort, convenience, ride, quietness, features and especially, QUALITY MATERIALS! Thank you Volkswagen!

  I couldnt be happier with this car. Its absolutely gorgious and Ill be hanging on to it for a long time. When I do consider selling Ill be right back in line for a new Jetta!

  2001 Wolfsburg Edition - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta

  I bought my 2001 Wolfsburg Edition Jetta a year ago and I absolutely love it. The 1.8 Liter turbo provides plenty of power, the sports suspension is great, and the breaks are incredible. With a 1/4 inch stainless steel exhaust down pipe including the CAT and a wideband O2 sensor ($300 part alone!!!!! Most cars only have a $50 part). I don’t know any other car with those stock components. I have tunned my car putting in a strut bar and increasing the boost. It was a lot of trouble to do so, but well worth it. Now I have 200hp and can take on a VR6.

  I bought my 2001 VW Jetta 1.8T Wolfsberg edition used in 2003. Ive had it for a year now and I love it. Ive had a couple recall parts that Ive had to bring the car in for, but they were minor and I was not having any problems. My car is roomy, cute, and fun to drive! I love all of the little extras the manufactures put into making this vehicle. It has been a reliable, fantastic purchase. I would definitely buy this car again.

  I have read many of the negative comments about the Jetta. It looks like the most of the problems are in the initial build quality. I am the second owner of this car and it has over 70k miles and for the price(used) you can not beat what you get. It is tight rides well and is an absolute blast to drive. I owned the 850 GLT before this car and the repairs on a european car and the cars like the Jetta are not cheap. Maybe if the negative drivers would buy a ford focus or something like that they would not be so shocked by some of the repair bills. After all you are buying a BMW type car check out the repair bill on those...

  I had this VR6 for 4 years now. I reviewed other reviews from other clients who owned it. Im lucky... Most have problems and being put in shop often. My VR6 has been running excellent for me with average of 35 MPG. Low profile tires (51 PSI), performace K&N air filter, full synethic oil, prenium gas, increases gas mileage. Ive pushed my RPM over 7,000 so many times and never had a problem with it. Ive topped almost 175 MPH with a radar used from a friend. All STOCK! It is a very fast car. Ive raced BMW M5 and beat him, he was an idiot, he had auto and I had stick shift and I won 500 bucks. hee hee. Best car Ive owned except for my old Dodge V10 truck.

  I have taken this car on two long trips and it has been everything I wanted and more. Everything works superbly in the car from the Monsoon system, cd changer, seats and cupholders. It gets fabulous MPG in town and on the road. I consistently get between 27-30 in town and 34-37 on the road. When the cruise is engaged, it has no problem pulling an uphill grade like the Grapevine in CA fully loaded. I love this car!!!

  Tough to Beat! - 2001 Volkswagen Jetta

  I purchased “our” Jetta for my wife a little over a year ago. At first I was a little concerned about the sticker price (in comparison to other models in the same class) but the fuel economy was the kicker. After a little over a year I find myself running errands just so I have an excuse to drive it. The performance is outstanding and the mileage just can’t be beat. All I can say is… sharp, fun to drive, and well built! I am sold on VW!!

  I love my jetta!! this is one solid and reliable car! I will never go back to any domestic brands. they have great service. never had any problems. the engine is powerfull and fun. I deffintly recomend this car!
