This Year's Model Updates:

Two new trim levels join the Jetta lineup for 2006: the upscale 2.0T and the sporty GLI. Both feature a 200-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and both can be equipped with VW's trick DSG direct shift gearbox. All Jettas besides the Value Edition now feature standard alloy wheels, and torso-protecting rear-seat side airbags are newly optional.

  • A step up from the old Jetta IV - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Bought this 2006 Jetta as soon as I saw it on the lot. Traded in my 2000 GLS 2.0 Jetta for it. Im very impressed by the improvements in this design. HP is up, ride quality is improved, and the interior is more spacious and better designed than my 2000 model. I purchased the 2006 2.5 model with package #2 with XM radio...nice features, along with the cold weather package (heated seats, and mirrors)...everything was well thought out in design, and nothing looks like an "afterthought". I wanted the Jetta over the B6 redesigned Passat as Im not ready for a larger car than the Jetta, nor do I need one. Im waiting for the aftermarket to catch up to put new wheels on it, but thats it. A+

  • Excellent choice but watch out - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

I have owned my new Jetta 2.5 for about 3 months now. I am extremely please with it. I do prefer the old body style but I wont lose my self over that small detail. The car really is great to drive, the interior is impecable and I get looks of people always checking it out. WATCH out however. There has already been a TB put out about it. There is a fuel line insulator that needs to be replaced under the car. It makes it sound like you might have a hole in your exhaust, and my AC line came lose and sprayed the coolant everywhere under my hood. Everything has been replaced in a very timely manner so I must say I have had an excellent experience both with the car and the VW service department.

  • Great Commuter Car - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

I drive about 100 miles a day going back and forth to work and the TDI really gets incredible mileage saving me hundreds of dollars each month compared to my full size truck. It has great low end power and just enough top end to pass on the freeway. Interior is comfortable for long trips and your butt gets sore from sitting way before you need to refuel.

  • I love this car! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

We traded our 2003 TDI Jetta for the 2006 model at the end of last year, and we love it even more than our 03! Its much roomier and very comfortable on a trip. My daughter has much more room in the back than she did before as well. We get great gas mileage, and its actually quieter than the 2003 was.

  • Exellent Choice - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

For what is out there at that this price, this car is an excellent choice. I love the DSG direct shift gearbox. I found a couple of annoying things mostly related to what I think may be the computer (the clock runs slow, the airbag does not go off when passenger leaves the car, Satellite Radio deletes my pre-selected memory). Other than that, I love it. I wonder how the DSG works with a Turbo or a V6.

  • Great Car - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Solid ride. Great handling. Comfortable seats. Huge trunk. Head and shoulders above the 2005 TDI Jetta that I had. TDI rocks with all that low end torque. It drives fantastic quiet and secure (10 airbags). The DSG automatic transmission feels like a CVT, seemless. Drives comparable to a new Mercedes c300 (My father owns one)

  • Worst Car Ever! - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

This VW is the worst car we have ever owned. We had problems with the emissions lights and transmission after 500 miles! We got it bought back by VW and bought a Honda Accord. We are 20 year VW customers. We will now never buy a VW again. I would avoid this car like the dog poo its made of!

  • faulty headliners - 2006 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

We own this vehicle..I would not buy another..one month out of warranty with 20,000 miles on it the headliner started pulling off. Went to dealer, they stated they would order a new one. well 8 weeks later and now they wont return our calls. Stopped by and we were told they couldnt see were one was ever ordered. They should have been up front and stated sorry cant do anything about it. Honda does courtesy warranties on stuff like this. No more VW for us. We are in our 50s and our cars are very well taken care of. This is unacceptable. They have a problem with their headliners falling down..

I bought My Jetta TDI to handle my 100 mile communte. I now only fill up onece a week versus twice. It is a great car. It has plenty of power, and it is greatly improved over the old VW Dasher diesel that I had back in the 80s.
