For 2004, all Jetta models get an updated look, optional telematics and a new and more powerful 1.9-liter TDI engine (GL and GLS models only). The 2.0-liter engine is now PZEV-rated, and the GLX trim is no longer available. Also note that you can no longer get the 1.8T engine in GL trim. Besides that, the GLI sedan sports new 17-inch alloy wheels and the Cold Weather Package items (heated seats and washer nozzles) as standard, while the GLS features a standard Monsoon stereo. The wagons get a revised instrument cluster late in the model year, and the sedans get new metallic trim rings around the gauges.

Got 53 MPG! - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By Steve & Vicki - August 7 - 10:00 amI bought my new Jetta Wagon in July 03, In August we drove from Indpls,IN to Ocean City MD and averaged 48+ MPG.Its a 5 speed stick and now Im averaging 52 MPG. very pleased with the car the sound system is excellent,(monsoon) Its a very efficient little vehicle. I recomend it highly the best Milage Ive achieved is 57 MPG. I look forward to many years of fun driving ahead!

Best Buy!! - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By avidfan4 - July 28 - 6:33 pmMy husband and I traded in a 1996 Honda Accord for this car and I cannot think of a single complaint. It has a very smooth ride, gets excellent gas millage, and ours has so many wonderful features. We havent had to any maintenance besides oil changes. Its braking system can handle the slippery winter roads like a pro. It handles extremely well, I would be completely comfortable racing this car in a NASCAR setting. VWs are worth the money you spend for them, I dont think I will be getting another car until my kids go to college...and I dont even have kids yet!

The power of this engine is incredible and hard to imagine until you are given whiplash upon entering the freeway. Buyers beware of extreme power when driving this car.

By Eben - June 30 - 2:00 amHaving owned a Suv and Subura wagon, its really fun to own a car that really "zips" around .The Jetta is very solid and well made. The Monsoon stereo and the lighted dash make you feel your driving a more expensive car.I added a Thule ski rack and go on many small New England roads with no problems. Great car!

Great Little Car - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By Bob Phillips - June 19 - 10:00 amI previously owned a 99 VW Jetta and heard that VW had made big improvements in the newest model. The VW Jetta is a little car with a big car ride. They added power locks, power windows, in dash cd player, cruise control and other features which make the VW Jetta a mini econo-luxury car. I have had no problems with either VW Jetta model. Oh, and the full size spare tire is a bonus, if you ever get a flat.

What a relief! - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By wyonative - April 1 - 10:00 amI purchased a 2004 Jetta after I was in an auto accident that totaled my other car. My other car was a 2002 Kia Spectra. Talk about night and day! I literally had problems with my Spectra from day one and after my accident, I found out the Spectra did not hold its value at all. I feel confident (and very safe) driving my Jetta. I look forward to my morning commute because I enjoy driving it so much. What a great car!

Best Wagon for the Money! - 2004 Volkswagen Jetta
By structoman - April 1 - 10:00 amCompared a Subaru Outback Wagon, an Audi A4 Quattro Wagon, a Volvo V70 Wagon, and a VW Jetta Wagon. I eliminated the Subaru because Japanese cars are just to plastic on the interior. I narrowed it down to the Audi, Volvo and VW and compared everything- from quality of components, performance, comfort and space and decided on the VW Jetta. The diesel engine has great torque and sips fuel. It is solidly built, good looking and was $10k less (paid $21k) than the Audi or Volvo. It is identical to the Audi A4 Quattro Avant Wagon, except that it is front-wheel drive and not all-wheel drive.

By cait - March 21 - 10:00 amI absolutely love my jetta. It might be a little mor expensive than some cars out there but it is well worth it. I havent had any trouble with it at all. One really neat thing about it is i can put my key in my door to lock it and it will close my windows and sunroof for me. It has the most comfortable car seats i have ever sat in.
